Love this video. Watching how you take your time to get the consistency right made my day. A lot of people think following an exact recipe will work. But they don’t think of the extra juices from the apple or carrot. I put my grated fruit and veg into a dish towel and wring it out. It pushes a lot of the juices out and helps preserve the treats longer. I make these and sell them to bring extra money in and I’ve made so many different flavors. Love that yours are still sort of soft in the middle. I bought a bag of treats the other day that were rock hard. Every horse spat them out. 😒

thanks so much for the video I really enjoyed it and just so you know if you have a blender or something you can grind the oats and then you have oat flour instead of normal flour.

(No Hate But) if you don’t have the time and money to get a horse please don’t, it’s cruel to the Horse. You can always make the treats and give them to a friend to give the there horse. (No hate)

Teresa Goebel, thanks! I have 4 horses and all of them are rescues and one of them came from a horrible condition just like the one I described. And it would break my heart if something like that happend to one more horse

I have the same recipe, but I just put a little salt and a couple of teaspoons of vegetable oil because that helps the sticky and I used a melon scooper to make the balls, or you can even use an ice cream scooper

you could use honey instead of molasses, molasses contains a lot of sugar. And do not use flour, it expands!! I do really like the idea tho

    1. Preheat the oven to 420*F
    2. Grate your fruit
    3. Mix and remove juices
    4. Add about 2 cups of oats and mix
    5. Add some Alfalfa and or grain and mix
    6. Add 1 and 1/4 cup molasses and mix
    7. Add about 2T of flour
    8. Roll into balls and place on a tray
    9. Turn oven down to 395*F
    10. Cook until nice and brown; about 20 minutes
    11. Cool and serve!

    (100th comment YAAY!!!!)
I have another suggestion for some much easier horse treats that you may want to try. All of the horses that I gave them too really loved it. You grate and apple, carrot and celery into a bowl. You scoop it into small circle mould (Or any other shape. I like using hearts personally). Sometimes i also put some fresh grass in there if the horses are picky. You keep the moulds in a tray and place them in a fridge until it hardens. Then you can leave them out for a bit (so that the horses don't get a really cold treat)and them serve them to the horses.
