- Using my Bothers Nissan Primastar van with no insulation , no solar or any kind of power as a weekend camper to meet up with friends for a birthday week in Arundel.
Sooooooo Cold.
Glad to say we are back on the road and looking forward to new winter adventure.
I started this lifestyle because of my 20 year broken relationship.
Ive started to put my life back together and build for a future. I have turned my original van into a badass camper van that is lifted with all the toys. Over the years ive converted a Standard V6 long wheel base van to now, living fulltime in a jacked up van with Siri and Alexa as my companions and driving off-grid into the country and living life and moving forward .

🙋♀️ Been there done that - never again ! I went to a festival (Straw Bear, in Whittlesea) in January once and I was SO VERY cold just like you ☹☹ can't stand it, so that's why I stick to warmer times Spring to late Autumn. (I'm a weekend warrior only). Mother is the necessity of invention - toothbrush stirrer 😮 but don't you have a penknife on your keyring? I've never been without one and I use it practically every other day 👍💯 some good tips on here about keeping warm - hat/socks etc. And yes the bed actually makes you cold if it does not breath 😏 not good.
I get frightened watching you with that water boil thing, very dangerous as it's very easy to knock it over - best to get a kettle and put it on your cooker plate, just take care ... ...
Some people actually choose to be open air travellers, but by golly they must be freezing when the temperatire drops like we have had recently, about -3 at night Brrr ... yes you are actually lucky to have a bed, pee bottle, coffee making and breakfast - luxury living 😀😀. Hope the van gets sorted soon 👍💯💯
It is kind of strange that living with the bare minimals, realising that some have a much harder and rough life.
Here in the Netherlands, politicians are speaking about it. Everyone should be able to rent a house, buy food and something to sleep on. Maybe everybody should realise that they have a tv, a bed and all sorts of luxury to life in. Maybe everyone should be in that position for a day, so 24 hours, that they haven't got all of this. I bet most people stop complaining about their position they are in. That they will appreciate things they have every day more. I bet that people wouldn't waste their food, electric toys and that stuff, and they would try to fix more of the last in stead of something new.
These sort of experiences you have had the past few days, makes people very humble I guess...

That's what I call, basic van camping & it's definitely character building. Have you got enough gas canisters, they're currently on offer at HomeBargains 4x for £4.99. Bargain.
I'm toying with hitting the road soon & just for the adventure, I fancy a UK coastline tour over a few months or so. Just stop as & when I like, chat with the locals as I go etc.
£5 for 4 that’s a good deal, if you do the coastline you will have a great time and there’s nothing better than having a good old chin wag with the locals, if you gel with them they give you great tips where to stay and have a trouble free time. 👍👍👍👍

I've just retired & so have the time to do & go as I desire.
Just looking for a camper, then I'm off on my travels, winter or not.
Bought an Inverter Generater so I'll never be without power & heating.

When Keira and I were made homeless. We were lucky to be put in a b and b . I think about homeless people all the time. And having her with me helps us not be on the streets
Good video Bud, use a few biker camping tips to keep warm such as bed socs or ordinary socs, heat the water out of one of the bottles pour it back in and wrap it in a T-Shirt etc as hot water bottle. cover head when sleeping. Cardboard from Lidl etc or free newspaper for window cover.

Hi mate, glad to see you happy! I'm full time in my van LDV Maxus.. But I've still got my LWB Toyota hiace camper as a back up. I've had the hiace for 5 years and it's just so reliable !! But eventually I needed a van I could stand up in so the Maxus is all I could afford. But having a back van is such peace of mind. Keep safe 👍
Im in a similar spot right now, couple of sleeps in the cargo section of my crew cab sportive. Well done for just getting it done (minus the diesel heater!).. oh and wincing at sucking fingers with raw bacon on 🤣🤣
