When I maidened my Dart 250g I was a bit surprised that the battery was at 11.6 volts when I stopped flying, and charged it up. On the second flight, I could not believe how long it flew. When on a 3s 1100MAH LiPo battery, I managed a solid 35 minutes of fast flying action.
Only bought this in Oct and today was the maiden...Chucked using autolaunch and was impressed with the way it glided gently to the grass...something not right...Second launch a lot more successful...helps if you flick the activate throttle switch on ...unexpectedly it did what it was suppose to do..climbed circled ....gain needs tweaking but landed with that stupid grin when you see autolaunch in action....thanks for your input and answering my stupid questions.
I struggled really hard coming from quads to wings and set up my wings wrong finally found out my ele. Stab was moving in the wrong direction fixed it and has been absolutely fantastic and amazing the dart 250 g is my favorite flys amazing as well as the drift or ar mini wings
Great Sporty Looking Plane. I would need FPV with this as I would lose sight of it soon after launching it. Looking forward to the “Kopilot” setup. Cheers.
Nice review and test flight! I agree this plane needs a bit more power. It seems that's a fairly small motor and prop for the size of the plane but a larger one may have put them over the 250g goal. See you in the Air!
Thank you once again for sharing your test piloting experience. It sure is a big help for me deciding what I put into my builds. After watching this, I'm glad I picked up the kit version so I can give it some more power. I ordered a 1507 2500kv 2-6s motor I was planning on using. Do you think a 1806 2400kv would be too much? Also, do you think a 20amp esc would be able to handle whichever choose?
ha ha Very nice. Got mine in the mail the other day. Have it together now, going to use my radio link 2AT10 transmitter with its R12DS receiver and see how that goes. I see 2 cables for the ailerons but it has a third cable the same have to find what that is for. I call it the Baby ZOHD ha ha .. Happy Flying
How do you have the "go pro" mounted to your hat? I absolutely hate the one I have. it adds so much weight and is a pain to put in and take out. I love the way yours is just sitting there.
I'd be interested if you put a current sensor on 2 & 3 S props. I was thinking of getting this & going 2S with 18650 but a bit concerned it may draw too much current.
The old dart kit offers better value and looks to be far stronger. I've put my little dart through hell and only had to glue it back together once in what was a 100kph+ crash. Flies awesome with a cheap omnibus f4 FC running inav and gets ridiculous flight times with a 4s1p 18650 pack.
Hay Andrew hope your doing well mate, I know you did this review 1 year ago but I've just got around to buying one, I was planning on using 2s 18650, does it have enough power on 2s for a good takeoff?
Hi Andrew, I have a small area behind my house in the UK surrounded by cliff and tall trees so no room for mistakes. I'm after a small and slow model so my question is if you think this Dart will fly quite slow and tight? Many thanks in advance. Also looking forward to seeing how good the copilot is.
@@AndrewNewton Thanks, Really appreciate the reply. I’m about to purchase the Dart. In your opinion, which version is better? The 2S or 3S (with 3 blade prop)
@@Trust.theWord Don't run the 2-blader on 3s at WOT (or full RTH current) for more than a half a minute! We have 3 burnt motors to dispute the wisdom of doing that. Oddly no dead ESCs though. 😜😊
Hi Andrew, just a couple of quick questions: - I've heard some negative stuff about its stall characteristics and was wondering how it glides / cruises. - It looks pretty nippy and I was wondering if it would be pushing the boundaries of a standard 4-6 football pitch reserve as if it needs a much bigger area I might as well just head further out with a full size model. After that crash though you've proved my doubts about durability, would love to see if it can slope too, maybe not with those swept forward wings. Thanks.
@@AndrewNewton well the description of course on banggood leaves a lot to be desired. It doesn't say if kopilot lite comes with PNP. And incorrect answers on questions hehheh. Thanks
So i went with the matek F411-WSE fc why limit this lil ripper when one does not have too still trying to keep it lightweight almost got all the electronics setup still waiting a few bits in the post do you know whom may have a good preset inav dump
Great review. you've a pretty place to fly but kinda wet.. Do you recommend the Mobius C2.. I've been trying to find a Gopro Sessions but used is the only available way to get them now.
@@ScowlerJase Hi, my interest is more in the fact that I can put this plane in a small backpack, assemble on the field, fly slow proximity FPV and don't fear lots of crashes. So, 2S + very low weight (circa 180 g)
Yep looks easy enough for me to build, and I love the way it fly's. I will definately look into this one...cheers!

Very nice, ihave the larger 635 dart and really like it, and it glides far better than i expected

Could handle a motor that is 7g heavier.
@@AndrewNewton , sounds like a plan ;-)
I wonder if you could hack the plywood model to fly indoors with a few tinywhoop parts?

3rd cable will be ESC for throttle control I guess.

Just a tripod bolt through the brim, and a little wedge tp tilt it up.

I'd be interested if you put a current sensor on 2 & 3 S props. I was thinking of getting this & going 2S with 18650 but a bit concerned it may draw too much current.
Current draw at Max throttle:
3x5x3 prop 3S - 7A
5x5 prop 2S - 8A
5x5 prop 3S - 11A

Hi Andrew, when you say 60/60 on the throws, is that the weight on elevator and ailerons, reducing from 100 to 60? Cheers
Yes, normal elevon mix is 50/50 but this needs maybe 70 elevator and 30 aileron mix.

Just got my Dart XL running nice.
Next project is this sub 250g.
Wondering if you checked the amp usage at full throttle?

Yes thats what I use for the Dart 250, the drift and talon 250. Need to give a good throw to avoid the dip.

Not this plane, too fast
Thanks Andrew! Does the ZOHD Dart fly better in high wind than the ZOHD Drift?
Neither of them are designed for windy conditions but the little dart would handle it better

It is quite fast, not for tight areas. Doesn't drop a wing in a stall as far as I can see, just parachutes down
hi andy could you tell me were the cg on the zohd dart 250g thanks love the vids
Thanks Kevin, on the dots for me
Nice plane but to fast for me at the moment. And expensive but not overly might be one for the future quick for the size.😁👍🇬🇧
Nice glide, curious about the wing loading of it!
Wing Cube Loading is about 10 (Wing area 8.4 dm sq)
@@AndrewNewton that explains why its so fast
Does the PNP version come with GPS stabilizer fc?

Can I use a 2s 7.4v 2000mah lipo battery on this dart I have a lot of them
Yes, they fit in the space
Wow. I thought the new regs were about to totally destroy the hobby but look what's happened. The most exciting new arrival since the tricopter.
Yes this is clever design and marketing
How does this compare with the nano skyhunter?
Similar performance but the Dart250 is lighter

my bad still outstanding job sir well done cant wait till mine arrives
What would be a non-FPV version?
One without a camera 😆😆😆
Would be very interested to see a review in 2S, with a small battery (around 450mah) and small camera. That would be my aim personally
How about a Strix 2S pack - 3200mah as used in the Nano Goblin ( that gets an hour of flight time! )
