states are pretty cool, but there are no functionality to re-order the captured states in the list.. also it's too easy to mis-click on the update icon instead of apply.. you can't even rename them. UX-wise this seems like a rushed job.

Even though I'm still bummed that we're 2.4 in, and Serif has YET to consider adding AutoTrace which is a staple of vector apps.
Heck, Inkscape has it since when dinosaurs roamed the earth.

Always happy to get new added items. Not exactly clear where these items will help me photo editing. I see it more for publisher and designer. Waiting for some new photo tools to come and improvements on current tools.

For me, the child layer shortcut and lock insertion point feature is the most welcome. Overall, I feel Affinity is really showing its age and, while I appreciate the overall amazing effort put into this program and giving us a quality alternative to PS, I really hope that they pick up their game with AI inclusion come version 3. Thanks again.
Oh good, now I can export vector shapes as a DXF for another software I use
Since I installed this latest update, when I export a document (that was an SVG) to PNG, it now appears with very little brightness, so I can't work... Is this happening to anyone else?
Sounds like it might be related to the 32-bit HDR PNG support? Double-check the export options and see if there's an 8-bit option perhaps?
well, in fact, it would be great and also logical, at least to me, if the whole align panel remembered the settings, so you would only have to press apply next time if you wanted the same procedure as last time. Just saying "transform again", which has been a user request for ages now!

Still no automatic masking like in lightroom or photoshop. Its very disappinting that affinity photo still not got this basic and useful feature in 2024
If you're referring to "Select Subject" in PS, I agree. It's such a killer feature. I just did some product photography that required a pure white background. I needed to isolate the background to adjust it to pure white. PS took 5 mins per picture to do. AP was easily half an hour per pic. 7 photos later and that time difference was enormous.

After the update, Photo has bugs in embedded objects and mockups don't work as they should... Fix this, please

what about the white balace? was it fixed? we are waiting 3 years for such a minor fix but with such big impacts on professionals....
What's the problem with WB ?
It works only for raw files in develop persona but not in photo persona and with non-raw files in develop persona.
When I hold the space bar the curser turns into a hand and the whole document moves.
For this new shortcut to work, you need to start clicking & dragging before you hold the spacebar. I hope that helps!

Every time they do an update to Affinity Designer, I get hopeful that they will do a raster to vector conversion -- like they have in virtually every other vector design program. People have been requesting that Affinity add this feature for YEARS. Yet they refuse to do so. Without this feature, Affinity Designer is not ready for prime time.
I’d pay $100 just to be able to use Photoshop plugins so I can have more text effect options

Thank you, Ally, for another wonderful video... but can you tell me how your circle layer has a black background on the thumbnail, whereas mine has a checkered background whether I choose 'transparent background' in the document drop-down menu... perhaps you have a video explaining transparency, etc?
For some reason CTRL PERIOD is not working on my PC. After selecting and rotating the form, hitting the PERIOD key changes the selection box, like in the video. But CTRL PERIOD does not lock it.
I found out that there wasn't a pre-defined shortcut to the SELECT - SET SELECTION BOX option in the menu. I defined CTRL . as the new shortcut in the preferences to solve the issue.

Can't seem to create any new, or open any older files since the update. Completely messed my work up at the moment. How doe I downgrade?
you just uninstall the current program and reinstall it from your original and choose which updates to have. There is usually an option to keep your preferences but backup those just in case.
review new changes for ipad version perhaps?
Id really like sculpt mode on pencil or brush to work better, has either the problem of not carrying on adjusting (add new curve) or change the shape in a way that does not go to what I want depending where you adjust from the square nodes. It is very frustrating and takes quite some time to do minor tinkering when it decides to do this.
Can you produce a video showing how to import luts to affinity photo 2 please?
I purchased Ivan Weiss luts but cannot import to affinity.

Yep. AI fanboy. Affinity is stating that they're including AI but it'll mostly focus on things like offline AI. There's the Inpainting Tool but its kind of hit or miss compared to what you can do on phones. They're not including any always-online AI generators. Clip Studio had a limited time AI generator, people didn't like it and they took it off.
Nice and usefull improvements, but unfortunately there is still no vectorization tool
you need to add an option to remove the background quickly
How about throw some more useful filters like the engraving and rasterize tools
What we need is true vector brushes!
You should be able to select two key objects for alignment instead of always depending on the one in the far left.

Version 1 is good enough. Version 2 is more about edit as Photoshop
I don't understand why the developers of this program are procrastinating in downloading an update that supports languages that write from right to left?

Affinity still has a long way to catch up with photoshop. I bought affinity back in 2020 (all 3 products) but still it's not user friendly yet like PS

Now worth another $70 to most people. I have version 2.1.1. The latest version I can find is 2.2.1 and I can't even upgrade to that one without paying again.
If you've bought version 2, every update that starts with 2. (2.1, 2.2, 2.3 etc.) is free for you to download. When I open an Affinity app, it automatically notifies me that there is a new version. All I have to do is click okay to agree to download and install. It's possible that you somehow turned off automatic updates, in which case you might need to log into your Affinity account and download them manually.
@@vvelesI bought version 2.1.1 when they had a promotion. Even though I bought through the Affinity website maybe there is a difference, or maybe the "free upgrade" is just a scam.

I honestly hate Affinity Photo 2 so much. I knew how to use the first version just fine. I knew Photoshop and it was easy to adapt. It was necessary for me to pay for Affinity Photo 2, a bit of a pain but no big deal, especially if it's an upgrade. Nope, they changed so much about it and it's incredibly unintuitive. Looks like it might finally be time to pirate Photoshop again, because I'm not giving Adobe another penny. Although, tbh, I have my regrets about giving Serif money too.
Yep, I had high hopes for Affinity but it's an absolute joke and is not a software suite to replace p/shop , Illustrator and InDesign for my print work yet, no where near it. Wasted my money on a bunch of junk software.
It all depends on what your needs are. Not necessary to spit on it

I agree with Kellog89, if you like Adobe, stick with Adobe. The Affinity teams does great work.
Until you give me clipping paths in Photo and lossless image resizing like Photoshop, this app continues tone a joke and is not worth integration into my workflow for print media.
