Now I’m no top player or anything, but were I to give my review on this tournament, I’d say that it’s far superior to normal competitive smash and it should be the way we always play the game. Also yes, I would love to see a Warioware tournament

I am a filthy casual in smash playing with items and wacky stages and this video made my day. There is so much potential for fun interactions in these stages.
Honestly, I'd love to see a smash tournament where the best players in the world, play their worst characters.

or better yet your enemy picks your character for you which will make it easier to manage and people will probably pick the character they are most comfortable fighting against

Something I found out when playing on these stages, specifically portalfield, with a friend: portals use port priority. This gives player one a huge advantage on portalfield, because you can lock the other player in the hole until they are a high enough percentage to die. It doesn't really matter on the other stages though.

Not only did Jacob make Portal 3 before Valve did, but now Valve can’t make a Portal 3 without it being as good as what Jacob made
Really love the idea of making a competitive scene that bases the game around problem-solving as much as pure technical skill. Side tournaments with changing rulesets and stages are a great way to keep things fresh

This is actually pretty great idea for future side events if not full tournaments if you can get more stages, (minus insta kill ones) like a pit icarus stage that’s actualy legal and portals would also be nice.
I honestly think Alpha should set up casual tornies and competitions before all major competitions. These are fun and hype as hell to watch

Hahahahaha, I tried to make stages for my school’s tournament, I really like game design, I made a few crazy ones, and one final destination type thing with our school mascot in the background, the only thing I added was levers off the side for decoration, but they reset the jump when hit. And I spent a long time on the stage, I had playtesters, and in the tournament after one round, one kid stood up and yelled “Hey, don’t play any of ****’s stages, they’re awful!” And everyone agreed, and it was so fucking dream crushing, and now seeing top players having fun with portals, I feel a little better that those nerds can’t have fun
Pain, suffering, need for content. These were the perfect ingredients needed to make the perfect smash portal stages. Yeah, but then he let professional smash players destroy their careers for content.
