Your idea basically is cool, but the way you desing your flow is really inefficient, a lot of your media is being wasted because of that, water flows in the least effort route posible so in order to force water to flow through all of your media you need to redesign your flow path, your actual setup only uses your sponge and the top layer of your big rings, lower big rings and the small rings don't get any flow, to fix this is easy though, you need to make middle plastic big enough so water can only pass through a small gap in the bottom this forces water through all of the big rings, and if you move the water output as low as possible then smaller rings will have some flow in them, if you do these changes your filter will double or triple it's efficiency, good luck :)

yup bro submersible pump/sinkable pump. i use 13wats with output 700Litters per hour. the pump i use is good for 10g to 35g aquarium tank.
