For the animated short, i noticed the same thing.. the way Lumine and Dain were shown here maybe foreshadowing that they eventually parted ways at one point, and also why Lumine never mentioned it to him about meeting the Sinner. Maybe they were just fulfilling a mission together and never really became "friends".
