What 4x4 vehicles do Mountain Rescue use | Toyota Hilux

- The team uses a Toyota Hilux 4x4 as our primary response vehicle, which is backed up by a Land Rover Defender 110. The Hilux has all the off-road capabilities the team requires to assist in any of our Mountain Rescue call-outs. The Hilux has decent control, High, Low gear ratio and you can select either 2 wheels or 4 wheel drive. The Toyota, as well as the Land Rover, is also fitted with a snorkel for those wet, flooded roads.
With most capable 4x4 off-road vehicles, Mobile one has fitted BF Goodrich All-Terrain Tyres, which helps with traction in muddy or snowy conditions. The cab can take five adults, it's fitted with two digital radios and a police banded radio. There is an aftermarket roof rack which carries additional equipment and is ideal to stow the team members rucksacks.
As you can see from the video there is a lot of rescue equipment the team requires to respond to a varied number of callouts. The rear has been specially adapted to a design to help the team efficiently store all of the equipment. The four main compartments carry all of the medical kit, crag and rope gear, stretcher and casualty bag.
The Conversion of the Base Toyota Hilux to a Mountain Rescue Vehicle was thoughtfully designed by APB of Peterborough and the team's logistics manager, Matt.

Outstanding, love the meticulous planning you put into that. It shows how meticulous you are in all you do. Thank you
Thank you Andy. We enjoy sharing theses videos. They do take a few hours to put together, thankfully we’ve the help from many of our team members.
Is there any videos you like us to share?
As you say "not quite the old Defender" let's hope one day we can see the new Defender in the rescue sector rivalling the typical Japanese 4x4 you have. Great work done by dedicated people for little more than a thank you. I salute you.
Thanks Tim.
cant beat the hilux for your work and the unstopperble reliability. well done for all your efforts..
Thanks Nell
Great Video, well done!
Glad you liked it!
Great film. Loving the snazzy vehicle. Astonishing how much kit you can get on it 😊
Hi Jonathan, thanks for the message. Yes lots of kit coving all the land based stuff we do.
Shows me where all the public donated money goes and how the highly trained un-paid volunteers may need it to help save lives. Extremely informative, good but concise.
Thanks Andrew

Can we see the van next time?
Hi, yes. If by "Van" you mean our all wheel drive Ford Tansit called Mobile 2 then that is in the schedule but not shot yet. It won't be live on UA-cam for a few months yet as we have already shot a fair bit of footage which is in the editing phase and is planned to go out first.
@@buxtonmountainrescue1102 that is exactly what I ment. No problem I understand a lot of time goes into these amazing videos.
