the whole things dodgy, using a key moment when Ukraine is in complete political turmoil to trigger a referendum thats obviously not approved or recognised by Ukraine's parliament in an area thats largely pro russian whilst at the same time mounting troops in Crimea and eastern Ukraine. Its quite obviously a land grab...

MrWizardofozzz First off the whole of Ukraine does not want to be Russian, i mean you seriously can't believe that... And just because eastern Ukraine is largely pro Russian doesn't legitimise anything! In almost every country there is a population in a region that is largely in favour of another country. Theres parts of switzerland that want to join Germany, parts of Brazil that want to join Argentina, theres even parts of England that want to be part of Pakistan! What Argentina, Germany and pakistan cannot do is send there troops into that region, host a referendum just within that region that many people boycott and the government of the country declare invalid. Ukraine is in a political mess, it doesn't have a properly functional government or leader and Russia exploited this key moment to grab land, its pretty obvious whats going on here. Yes it is ex soviet land with largely pro-Russian population. But that doesn't legitimise whats going on. You seem to believe the moral crusade nonsense that russia is spouting that there going into crimea and eastern ukraine to "protect there people". Russia has it's agenda like any other country and is expanding it's territory for its own imperialistic reasons!! Russia like the USA is an imperialistic country that craves more power. I disagree with aggressive imperialism because all it does is sow the seeds for later conflicts.

If I were Crimean (even though I hate Putin and his borderline-fascist regime), siding with a Ukrainian regime that itself embraced it’s links to Nazi germany would be unconscionable. Sevastopol was a hell of a fight and I can’t imagine Crimeans forgetting it anytime soon.
That looks eerily similar to the lady from all those other pro-Russian rallies. She was also a soldiers mother, anti-Maidan protestor, Kiev resident, Odessa resident, Kharkov resident. Now a Sevastopol resident with flaming red hair.
Given the armed gangs on the streets, I think it was very brave of the Ukrainian guy to be filmed. I also found the military more talkative than they are normally.
If you knew who that guy turned out to be you wouldn't be surprised. He was among the first who got a Russian passport, and then was the one who cooperated with Russian authorities and got the whole gang of wanna be terrorist "resistance group" arrested. Including "producer" Sentsov, known as "political prisoner", later pardoned and exchanged into Ukraine. They did a series of explosions of improvised explosive devices at the "Memorial of the Eternal Flame" and the monument to Lenin in Simferopol on the night of May 8-9, 2014, as well as arson of the offices of the public organization "Russian Community of Crimea" - the office was on the first floor of the residential building. No one was hurt but they got jail time. This guy was released in about a year or so since he was cooperating, he went into Ukraine and pretended to be Sentsov's best buddy, claiming he was tortured by FSB etc. Poroshenko even gave him an award and apartment in Kiev 🤣 Later Sentsov called him out on the cooperation and being prosecution witness at the trial 😂... So, yeah "brave" indeed 😂🤣😂
Let this be a lesson to all aspiring Nuclear weapon wielding Nations around the world: Do not give up your Nuclear weapons no matter what carrots or treaties are dangled in front of your faces. In 1994 the United States, United Kingdom, and The Russian Federation signed the Budapest Memorandum guaranteeing to respect and protect the sovereignty of Ukraine in return for them giving up the third largest stockpile of nuclear weapons in the world...we can see how that turned out. I'll bet they wish they had those weapons now. Russians have no honor, and the current US President has no backbone. Our Dangerous world just became a little more dangerous. I bet if you put armed forces on the corners of streets in any town around the world you will sway a vote. I'm also sure the authorities "lost" a bunch of the opposition votes. But it doesn't matter. It was an illegal invasion and vote in the first place.
Russians can keep 25k troops on the territory of Crimea. Now, i've seen hundreds of people like you, debated with all of them, and i know, with 99% accuracy, that your answer will be "Why are they occupying bases? They don't have the right to do that", if you'd recall a little bit in late February, a couple of Ukrainian military leaders sworn loyalty to Crimea (Russian side), meaning if Russian troops got the authority from these leaders, and Yanukovich himself, to enter those bases, it is in no way a violation of international law. This is a *complete* check-mate for Putin over the west, Yanukovich (The Russian-friendly guy) is *still* acting president of Ukraine, so the question of "Who will supply Crimea?/How will Russia supply Crimea?" is quite an ignorant one. Don't give me the "A legitimate parliament vote overthrew him" www.liveleak.com/view?i=90c_1395058419 This is as legitimate and democratic as every move the USA makes. *For the love of whatever deity you believe in*, stop spreading fallacy to small-minded people, it has huge impact on them.
It is true. The Ukrainian army have been given orders to use live ammo for self defense in the case of another raid. They say that the "West has crossed the line". Well, guess what? Russian forces killed a Ukrainian soldier in the middle of a truce that was to expire on the 21st.

One of the greatest problems in Ukraine, and indeed in all republics of the former Soviet Union is language. I was in Ukraine twice ('95, '96) Crimea was pretty much a world class resort. And it's language: I had two children insult me because I said 'excuse me' in Ukrainian. A friend of mine, who is a Mexican national, got snapped at by a ship's steward because he had mistaken a tour schedule as being written in Russian "That is not Russian, that's Ukrainian!" We walked away and my friend wondered aloud if perhaps they "throw him over the board." Ukrainian young were/are very nationalistic. It was one of my favorite countries to tour and I wanted to live in Kiev. I hope they stop in their tracks before another war goes down.

Well done Crimeans... With an almost unanimous vote, nobody can deny your right to join Russia..
The people have certainly spoken their minds...
cmon!! 80% turned out to vote and 97% voted for russia? While many people were clearly against the referendum and either boycotted or voted against... This is so dodgy...
Nearly 1.6 million people voted in favor of joining Russia in a place that has roughly 2 million people... That is an overwhelming majority...!! clearly...
the whole things dodgy, using a key moment when Ukraine is in complete political turmoil to trigger a referendum thats obviously not approved or recognised by Ukraine's parliament in an area thats largely pro russian whilst at the same time mounting troops in Crimea and eastern Ukraine. Its quite obviously a land grab...

And their are more, look it up
MrWizardofozzz First off the whole of Ukraine does not want to be Russian, i mean you seriously can't believe that...
The West "Respect people's wills."
Crimeans vote to join Russia.
The West "No you can't do that. We're not accepting your wills."
