To Ostrovsky about his criticism: When Turkey took northern Cyprus in 1974, the US literally chose to ignore the situation and the sanctions imposed on Turkey turned out to be laughable. While just 18% of the population were Turkish Cypriots, the US government had also largely supported the Greek military dictatorship that supposedly provoked Turkey to start the war. The US government did so to 'protect' Greece from the rise of communism back then...
Food for thought for you and everyone else who keeps saying that the US government stands for 'justice' and 'democracy'; too much hypocrisy...
Same thing they do it now with Ukraine, using them as their Trojan horse, hate people on internet making fun of Russia but US is the real demon in this whole situation, it's laughable how stupid and naive people in the West are.

April 2024😊
I’m from UK and even I have to say Russia’s troops are some of the coolest looking I’ve seen big em up for that 👌
Cool or not, I dunno, but what's for sure is that they carried out one of the most peaceful annexations in history and that's something.
Remigijus Naucas I cant agree it’s put Ukraine into civil war which had losses for both sides and now has left both sides to deal with the damage and having to deal with rouge militias who need to be controlled
@@snowtfl5617 Eastern Ukraine, absolutely, but not Crimea, Crimea was infiltrated and "disarmed" before Kiev even knew what was happening, clean operation.
Remigijus Naucas oh Yh Crimea was secured efficiently the only reason for that was cause a large number of the population was agreeing with it but no doubt Russian forces did it professionally
Not sure why you'd say that. Imo they look like the generic knock-off brand of French or American soldiers
Ukraine managed to neglect Crimea after the USSR collapse and turn it into the poorest oblast in Ukraine, they had 23 years to fix it and failed.
In that period, they had two referendums in 1991 and 1994 for autonomy and semiautonomy, respectively. Both referendums were landslide victories in favour of distancing Crimea from Ukraine.

Majority of crimeans want to be part of Russia
USA: Well every country even ukraine has its right to keep their integrity, so the separatists movement is illegal
Kosovo does not want to be part of Serbia, serbia does not wanna ruin its country integrity
USA: Well you can't force people their separatists movement is totally fine
Hypocrisy at its most
You can’t bring those two examples together cause they have way too many differences. The biggest one that in Kosovo 90% of population was Albanians when at the same time in Crimea it was only 60% of Russians. And that number is that big only because Russia had military formations in Crimea. Second thing that Kosovo actually got independence and it remain that independence until our days. They didn’t join Albania although they really wanted to. There was no war or homicide between Ukraine and Crimea and even in terms of Kosovo it was a whole year of conflict before NATO decided to involve themself in a conflict . Also it’s 20 yers gap between those two examples and the world has been changed since that time. So there’s no hypocrisy it’s just different situations. By the way Ukraine do not recognize Kosovo.
@@pavlosirotkin4771 "Crimea it was only 60% of Russians" - Павел, внимательнее изучите перепись СССР 1989 года: 67% русских, 26% украинцев.

"Since this is a Tartar majority area, the results of the referendum is questionable. Hey, what country is this in?", as asked by Simon. "Russia!!", responded by the Tartars. - Quoted
So, even the Tartars supports the referendum. And the number of defectors are clearly showing signs that the Ukrainian government is failing them at all fronts.
If you people still QUESTION the legitimacy of the referendum, go to Crimea yourself and ask the local population. I've been there personally and the mood is extremely joyous among the people.
I don't think the Tatars would be out partying after 99% of them boycotted the referendum or weren't allowed to vote. Most Muslims don't drink, either. Those people were probably ethnic Russians.
redjujufish
Please provide proof of evidence that those were not Tartars. 85% turnout rate is very high when there's only 65%+ ethnic Russian speakers, that means that around 20% of Tartars or Ukrainians has been voting in favor of Russia integration.
I've expected that people like you who are mostly Americans will not submit to the fact that people there are overwhelmingly in favor of Russia, so as I've mentioned earlier, go there yourself and have a look. The best way to evaluate a situation is by going there yourself.
You can continue to argue with me with you biased and empty opinions but that will never ever change the fact on the ground.

“Special back the truck out of the yard operation” 😂😂
Well done Crimeans... With an almost unanimous vote, nobody can deny your right to join Russia..
The people have certainly spoken their minds...
cmon!! 80% turned out to vote and 97% voted for russia? While many people were clearly against the referendum and either boycotted or voted against... This is so dodgy...
Nearly 1.6 million people voted in favor of joining Russia in a place that has roughly 2 million people... That is an overwhelming majority...!! clearly...
the whole things dodgy, using a key moment when Ukraine is in complete political turmoil to trigger a referendum thats obviously not approved or recognised by Ukraine's parliament in an area thats largely pro russian whilst at the same time mounting troops in Crimea and eastern Ukraine. Its quite obviously a land grab...
Mgooboo Mckenzi
Are you referring to the moment when the Ukraine government was toppled by protestors...??? the same protestors that are being accused of snipping hundreds of people..?? look around... everyone in Ukraine want to join Russia.. and that's not all...

After Crimea, The Tiny ‘Republic of Trans-Dniester Says: ‘Annex Us Next’ - bloomberg
And their are more, look it up
MrWizardofozzz First off the whole of Ukraine does not want to be Russian, i mean you seriously can't believe that... And just because eastern Ukraine is largely pro Russian doesn't legitimise anything!
In almost every country there is a population in a region that is largely in favour of another country. Theres parts of switzerland that want to join Germany, parts of Brazil that want to join Argentina, theres even parts of England that want to be part of Pakistan! What Argentina, Germany and pakistan cannot do is send there troops into that region, host a referendum just within that region that many people boycott and the government of the country declare invalid.
Ukraine is in a political mess, it doesn't have a properly functional government or leader and Russia exploited this key moment to grab land, its pretty obvious whats going on here. Yes it is ex soviet land with largely pro-Russian population. But that doesn't legitimise whats going on.
You seem to believe the moral crusade nonsense that russia is spouting that there going into crimea and eastern ukraine to "protect there people". Russia has it's agenda like any other country and is expanding it's territory for its own imperialistic reasons!! Russia like the USA is an imperialistic country that craves more power. I disagree with aggressive imperialism because all it does is sow the seeds for later conflicts.

Interesting history.
The Crimean Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic[a] was an Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic of the Russian SFSR (1921-45) and the Ukrainian SSR (1991-92) located on the Crimean Peninsula. The political unit was succeeded by the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
Republic
A republic is a form of government in which "supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives". In republics, the country is considered a "public matter", not the private concern or property of the rulers. The primary positions of power within a republic are attained through democracy or a mix of democracy with oligarchy or autocracy rather than being unalterably occupied by any given family lineage or group. With modern republicanism, it has become the opposing form of government to a monarchy and therefore a modern republic has no monarch as head of state. As of 2017, 159 of the world's 206 sovereign states use the word "republic" as part of their official names. Not all of these are republics in the sense of having elected governments, nor is the word "republic" used in the names of all states with elected governments.Wikipedia

Given Russia had to invade to hold onto small parts of a country that has been it's historical closest ally, is growing slowly for a developed economy, much less an undeveloped one (which it is), is the eleventh biggest economy in the world and falling rapidly, it's population is falling rapidly and it's contribution to scientific output fell to 1% of the worlds last year it is pretty clear that by any measurable fashion it's a dying medium strength power, unable to catch up with the strong and being outstripped by the up and coming.
Putin may impress a certain type with his statesmanship but the numbers don't lie in regards to the actual Russian position.
Tomas Keenan He's not confusing anything. All this Ukrainian crisis was US project, states did the same shit they do over and over again : Egypt, Livia, Syria and so on. Putin is just defending his interest. There would be NATO base in Crimea by now with rockets pointed u know where. Thats why Obama is so mad. What we see now is agony of the US, when Russia and China will stop using dollars (they are working on this right now) US economy will collapse. And Obama can't do shit about it...
Tomas Keenan, you're certainly confusing something. The Ukraine has NEVER been Russia's ally in all the 25 years of its existence since 1991. This burlesque political entity is anti-Russian in it's core, anti-Russian nationalism being its state ideology irrelevant of the specific president. The title of the 2nd Ukrainian president's (Kuchma) book - "The Ukraine is not Russia!" - may well serve as the national motto of this pathetic effigy of the state. This was the ony thing that unified otherwise linguisitically, ethnically and historically heterogenous people living in what's now called "the Ukraine".
Given the armed gangs on the streets, I think it was very brave of the Ukrainian guy to be filmed. I also found the military more talkative than they are normally.
If you knew who that guy turned out to be you wouldn't be surprised. He was among the first who got a Russian passport, and then was the one who cooperated with Russian authorities and got the whole gang of wanna be terrorist "resistance group" arrested. Including "producer" Sentsov, known as "political prisoner", later pardoned and exchanged into Ukraine. They did a series of explosions of improvised explosive devices at the "Memorial of the Eternal Flame" and the monument to Lenin in Simferopol on the night of May 8-9, 2014, as well as arson of the offices of the public organization "Russian Community of Crimea" - the office was on the first floor of the residential building. No one was hurt but they got jail time.
This guy was released in about a year or so since he was cooperating, he went into Ukraine and pretended to be Sentsov's best buddy, claiming he was tortured by FSB etc. Poroshenko even gave him an award and apartment in Kiev 🤣 Later Sentsov called him out on the cooperation and being prosecution witness at the trial 😂... So, yeah "brave" indeed 😂🤣😂
