I’ve always been this way. When I stand next to my father people say I look exactly like him. When I stand next to my mother people say I look exactly like her. My sisters each favor one parent in appearance however.
What a treat to see Sid and Django perform together! Django clearly inherited his parents' talent - terrific performance! And a terrific script: An older Bashir, having to deal with another 'young, brash, naive idealist,' and finding it hard-going... I love it XD I also loved the little ending twist! (I won't mention spoilers in the comments, but my reaction was, "Ha! Of COURSE he did." It was perfect.) Add in the skillful social commentary, and this was a thoroughly beautiful piece. Funny, charming, surprisingly moving. Thank you Sid, Django, and Emma! Bravo to all of you, and everyone else who made this happen!
Probability leap!?! That’s an awesome concept. Very Douglas Adams. I’m surprised he didn’t materialise in the form of a couch. Nice work Sid, Django and everyone involved.
To be continued... I chuckled at the end. Django's performance is captivating, you must be proud of him. There should be another Bashir & Giel episode.
This fan fic readings are sooo great. The issues they are dealing with, and the perfomances. Great of Django to drop by and play some Star Trek with his dad! Thank you both, for bringing joy during this difficult times in the world.
I’m not good with words so I won’t say much other than the fact that this made me cry like hell. Stories like this are what Star Trek is all about. Brilliant 🖤
This was so so so good! Emma's writing is the best exemple of what this fandom is capable of! After years of enjoying her fics, I'm thrilled that everyone else can see how talented she is. Even if you haven't read her stories, you'll adopt Giel (her Original Character) in a second, that's her talent. Django did such a great job and it's obvious that father and son had a lot of fun acting together! I really hope we'll see another episode soon! Thank you everyone who made this possible!!! That was brilliant!
As you have read a number of Emma's fics I was wondering if you knew if this is part of a larger series? I couldn't see any other information on the writer to look at her previous fics.
@@emmacroxford3207 Yes! There's a whole saga with Giel. Her fics read like novels! I'll be the first in line to buy her book if she ever decides to write one. You can find the 1st part here: archiveofourown.org/works/14461320/chapters/33408387
oh YES! This is stunning. THIS is the zoom play we've been waiting for, I KNEW we could get fan writing like this, it's mesmerizing, I keep rewatching. And how talented is Django WOW He is absolutely magnetic, I can't keep my eyes off him.
I already have a deep respect for Alexander Siddig for his acting. I watched him grew into a great actor in DS9. In movies & TV, in have a newfound respect for his acting roles. With his podcast, he has my devotion and loyalty for holding us down in the mist of the lockdown. Thank you, Alexander Siddig. 😌😏
Thank you so much for keeping DS9 alive!!! Your show has been a staple in my life since the moment it premiered. Through good times and bad, (which there were a lot), DS9 had always been a constant and comforting friend. I re-watched it over 300 times. Yes, I'm a little DS9 nutty. For some reason it always helps me find my zen. Love you and all you are doing.
I really enjoyed this... But I have to admit I didn't know or remembered that Siddig and Nana had a kid or even a relationship during DS9. This was a pleasant surprise! Django looks like Alexander/Bashir went thru an aging regression.
As others have said, Django has Nana's eyes. Nana was pregnant with Django when she acted as surrogate to Keiko and Miles' baby on the show ( classic quote from Kira to Bashir "This is still all your fault" when she was struggling during pregnancy)
@@jacquidicks2466 re: surrogacy - Thanks for the reminder, I had forgotten all that. I have been involved with the audiobooks written since then about the O'Brien's dying to remember the surrogacy.
@@jacquidicks2466 I liked the audiobooks read by some of the original actors from the various series of Star Trek. A lot of them are on UA-cam, if you want to have a listen. Perform a search for "audiobooks". I am currently enjoying one co-written by Armin Shimmerman (Quark) that he reads to you, also. There are even some out there read by Leonard Nimoy (Spock), William Shatner (Kirk), ---- (Montgomery Scott) and George Takei (Sulu). I even heard of some read by DS9 actors (Kiera Norise, Odo, etc.) Sorry i don't remember the actors names so i put their characters names in parenthesis! Look for them , and if you can - Download them! ..they bring back lots of memories!
Keep the kid around! Yes he talks to much and is a bit too optimistic but the profits know exactly what you need. Great read throughly enjoyed. Thanks to you both.
I would love to see a DS9 series a couple of generations after Sisko and co. I would imagine someone turning up through the wormhole, as if in a cryo ship. This person is brought back to life as such and is brought onboard DS9. He ends up becoming the Emissary, but he knows nothing of the future. Have a Major Ciara character help him acclimatize . He is forced to join the Federation as they are his closest link to earth. Have the Bajorans demand he stays with them even though he knows nothing of their culture or religion. He could become a pawn between Star Fleet and Bajor. Then tell his story as he struggles to manage his life in the future. Show then efforts made to control him and direct him. I would love to see this done with a modern day guy or gal thrown into the future.
Wonderful story, hope there's more to come! Sid, you and Nana, make beautiful kids together! Handsome lad!!! Very talented like his parents! Much love to you all!!!
Very good story! Very well done as well! Hope you had fun! I remember talking to Andy Robinson at a FedCon years ago, and we were talking about being a actor, since my dad was one, always proud of being a man of classic theater (can you say so in AE?) I said it was hard for my dad since he was more the artist than a career person. Andy said to me he could perfectly understand, and that he always believed the most difficult thing being in the acting business was to fill the periods without an engagement with something worth while. You two have just proven how it can be done! I hope you do have engagements to come and I hope that one or the other newcomer will learn from your example! And congratulations to the author, too, for she wrote such an intriguing and entertaining and even political piece! Success to all of you!
i thought this one would be trash. i've put off watching for three years. i was WRONG. 11/8/24 the "farrage riots" have just been stamped out in the UK and i feel like Sisko made me save this one for the day i really needed it. thank you.
I've never seen someone that looks so distinctly like both of their parents
Its mad isn't it??
Seriously!! He's got his mother's eyes and forehead, but his mouth and coloring is all Dad! This was awesome!
I had the exact same thought!
Its freaky how you see features from both pop out depending on the angle you see his face from

"Just something I overheard while uh... treating a patient"
Taking inspiration from our good friend Garak
Indeed.

when I tell you I teared up when Bashir told him he couldn't stay and he just answered "why?"

"You could have rematerialzied in the void of space! " - "but ... I didn't though" the best line XD
I love how anyone that served under Sisko is probably either cursing his name or still waiting for his boot to kick them in the pants.
"and he JUST DOESN'T shut up!" best line ever
anyway, intriguing start! Hope there's more. And Django has his father's talent, no doubt!
For the first time, it really felt like having Julian back. I wanted to cry. Emma, you're a star!
Django has great instinctive timing as an actor. Watched it live and he really nailed it. Great script and excellent performances.

Loved the twist on Bashir's first conversation with Major Kira
Hey now, if they ever did a DS9 reboot, Django could play Bashir
pray for sequels, not reboots!
But Django obviously needs to join the cast if ever a sequel was made! Bravo!

Giel ; so innocent , trusting , hopeful, fool hardy. I hope he doesn't get crushed.
Sounds like he used an Infinate Improability Generator. Sounds like he used a cup of REALLY hot tea when creating the generator.
That's where my mind went when Giel says he did a "probability leap"! Nice crossover.
Wow Django looks so much like his old man 😄
He's got his mom's eyes though.
@@stevenjlovelace he sure has!

I put it on anytime I can't sleep. Or need company during breakfest. Or whenever. No show can be rewatched as endlessly as DS9 XD

Amazing political and social commentary here. And, "Why" is the perfect question.

Has Doctor Bashir been hanging out with Tom Paris? Because I don't think 24th century comms would normally ring that.
You can choose a ringtone now, don't see why not in the future. And as a Bond fan, I'm sure he's heard a phone on some Holonovel or another.
