Lille is the BEST! Defeated Sanity doesn't sound like the rest, their Jazzy sound sets them apart and are unique in my book!
I don't know enough to tell which parts are jazz but they make quirky time signatures sound smooth like no other band in their genre. Effortless transitions.
Caught Defeated Sanity on their 2022 Aussie tour, it was the 2nd ever show I went to. Good stuff.

These guys are great! Brutal and technical AF! How they use those jazz-infused parts with their brand of slam breakdowns is genius. You can definitely hear their influence on other bands. Lille Gruber is definitely the standout performer on anything he plays on!

saw Defeated Sanity at the Death Feast 2007 with Wolfgang and i think Lille also played for Mucopus at that festival! awesome that he mentioned Death Feast, nowadays its a lot smaller but still the most brutal festival in europe and defeated sanity the most brutal band from germany by far! :)
I saw them at a tiny ass bar in the middle of nowhere a few years ago and it was fucking awesome

Terrible Certainty is really good, it's different than Flag of Hate, Endless Pain, and Pleasure to Kill, but still is just as good. Coma of Souls is better than Extreme Agression . I am surprised that it's not more people's favorite Kreator album.

Lille saying "Corpsegrinder to me is Monstrosity" just proves why they are the best bdm in the world, the guy just has a taste and perspective that's so deeply rooted in the essence of how this shit was and how it evolved. I always say in order to be a good dm listener, you gotta be a good dm musician first, it's just a musicians' genre. It sure ain't no MGLA lol. You need to learn and experience how that stuff is pulled in the studio and live to be able to really appreciate the nuances and get to the bottom of it. It's a difficult music to listen to, and it's even more difficult to even attempt playing it so the truth is only revealed to those who work the hardest and know the ropes.

I mean, there's no telling how much more they would have improved if they would have continued on from "Servile Insurrection." They only put 3 (I count the 1st release as a full length) quality albums out and that was it. And I know that it was due to the carpal tunnel syndrome.. Shame.
