Street tacos are originally from Mexico city they are defined in Texas by beef, chicken, pork and lingua (cool tongue). They are usually 3inch flour tortillas. They usually come in 3 count paper boats. Cilantro, lime juice and either spicy or mild Pico di gio. Reddish is interesting

I still don't understand the difference between street tacos and plain old tacos. Is it soft shell vs hard shell?

It's the ingredients and how they are made. Regular tacos are made with seasoned ground meat, tomato, lettuce and cheese. Street tacos are usually made with seasoned chopped steak or chicken on corn tortillas topped with cilantro & chopped radish or onion.
