    The best thing I learned in a long long time. I have been buying the little round discs. There aren't very many in a package. They are just too pricey. This is awesome. Thank you.

    What an incredibly helpful tutorial. I didn't discover creative grids rulers until I had a lot of slippery ones. Just can't afford to replace them. I'm ordering this tape today. Thanks so very much for sharing!

    WOW! Thank you so much! Cutting long strips can be aggravating and mistakes expensive. I just ordered a roll of the non-slip tape and can't wait to see how it works! Based on all the reviews and comments, you've recommended an amazing product. Thanks, again!

    Those are nice suggestions and I will remember it when I begin working with the strips I have and make sure the material is cut correctly because the material is expensive now and I don't want to lose much of it. Thanks for all the information you gave us and I will use it to make my work come out perfectly.

    Hello, This is Daniel Cutright from SlipDoctors. Thank you for your video promoting our products. I want to clarify that you are discussing our Anti-Slip High Traction safety tape. The barefoot friendly tape is unlikely to work well in regard to keeping the fabric secured while you cut. Thank you again!

    • @scrapinmaniac
      @scrapinmaniac  4 роки тому +1

      It works well for my purpose since it give me the grip I need. I mainly need to keep the ruler secure not the fabric. I also use a 5 pound weight if I want a long ruler to not slip. I have the product on all my cutting rulers and started putting them on my quilting rulers and they help me keep the rulers in place while free motion quilting my quilts.

    I ordered the tape from the slip doctors and it works great. Be aware that less may be more. I used a 6" piece for my 24" ruler. Can we say 'overkill' 😋. Thanks again.

    Thank you so much for this info! My sister spent $49.95 for that 6" ruler at the quilt show in Paducah, Kentucky last week. I told her that there was only a sand paper texture on the ruler.

      😂😆🤣 that sounds like my brother who gets bamboozled everywhere he goes LoL.. Let me tell you, some of these sewing tools can get very expensive and there's a bunch of at home hacks/tricks that you can use to simplify your sewing experience without going out and buying these expensive tools.

    You are right and a wonderful idea THANK YOU. I ordered the tape great stuff you can use it in bath tubs on steps .............I did see recently a youtuber selling the suction handle but I use a 5 lb dumbbell and even two on my long 36 inch ruler and am very confident that the ruler is not going to move, I get them in the athletic department at Marshalls.

  • @scottydog6539
    @scottydog6539 Рік тому

    Amazon has those ruler homers too. You can also use are the exercise dumbbells to hold your rulers as you cut

    This is EXACTLY what i was having trouble with. Someone recommended placing a heavy object on the far side of my Omnigrid 24.5 inch ruler, and that worked; however, the only object I had was a heavy pewter vase. I have to adjust my hold to get around the vase. I love this video! I have also ordered Creative Grids rulers. While expensive, their markings are easier to see than the Omnigrid ones, which drive me crazy. Now I need to find a better mat. Mine is also Omnigrid, and I have the same trouble viewing the markings easily. I'll put this tape on my my rulers, and also try and find the mini grippers for fussy cut squares, which I have not been able to find with any kind of grip. Fabric is so expensive and I've been kicking myself for my apparent inability to use rulers to cut exactly. It's comforting to know that I'm not alone. I just ordered my tape from Slip Doctors. Thanks SO much for this video!!!!

    Love this. I am not a quilter but i do lots of free cutting for my bags and other craft items i am making and i always have a slip problem and love this. I got some of those grippers at my local goodwill shop and i got it for about 2 dollars on half off day so keep your eyes open for them there as well. I am going to get some of that tape. i am on a budget and i am a thrift shopper so anything that i can get for cheaper but still good quality i do lots of thrift shopping. i have gotten most of my fabrics there as well and notions and purse handles, and so much more since i am a newbie. just because something is new does not mean better quality that is why i love these videos and helpful hints to make my sewing a little less expensive but still provide good quality. Thanks for the great video. The prices they have on some of these web sites is just highway robbery lol. I understand there are people who have money to spend and that is amazing but not all of us can afford this stuff at those prices.

    Can you see markings on rulers thru tape? Does it hurt fabric because it is so rough?

    • @scrapinmaniac
      @scrapinmaniac  Рік тому

      I can see the markings and I have not seen issues with hurting my fabric.

  • @kathleenmayhorne3183

    I use clear double sided sticky tape, it's a lot cheaper, it collects lint and eventually doesn't stick anymore, so I can easily take it off, and put a new piece on it. I can also use it to cut accurate epp papers (a little lint stops the paper tearing) without marking first, just cut around the template shape with scissors. I also mark my ruler if I need multiples. If it is in the way, It is not expensive to put on a new bit. All the best.

    TY TY for the tape info. wish you were close I'm not sure what I will do with 60ft., , but I just invested in the tape. I have used true grip plastic discs as well as the dots of sandpaper ( I hated that & ended up throwing out two of my first rulers, what an expense that was) $5 for the true grips only has enough for a couple of rulers and you cannot see through it after a while. TY again.

    • @scrapinmaniac

      Yeah its a lot of tape but worth it. You can also put this stuff on outside steps to prevent falls. Thank you for watching!

    Hi I live in uk what do you call the grips you use the big white and blue one . Can you tell me what there used for please looked uk sites for grips but nothing come up found tape thank you

    • @Dragon-nn6fr
      @Dragon-nn6fr 5 років тому

      Hi Kathleen, You have probably already found the answer by now but in the UK those 'grippers' are known as Suction Handles or Suction Grips, or Suction Cups - often described as being used for lifting, glass or glazing. You can find them at all the main DIY places like Homebase, Screwfix and B&Q; smaller ironmongers, plumbing supply shops - or at the usual on-line sources.

    Donna Jordan's 5 lb barbell works too. Or 1 lb if hand issues... Love the tape idea. And I won't get those expensive rulers at full price, only when they are either half off or what ever. Ebay sometimes sells them with a very minor defect but other than that, your ideas are execellent

    Thank you so much for your wonderful ideas. I just have a couple of questions. Is the strip really clear so that it does not hinder your view of the numbers and lines on the ruler? And, second; did you try the tip that was given to you about using shelf liner between your fabric and the ruler. How did that work out? Thanks again.

    • @scrapinmaniac
      @scrapinmaniac  6 років тому

      The strip is clear enough to see but I mainly put a thin strip on the edge of the rulers. I have not tried shelf liner, but I imagine that it should work. Thank you for watching!

    cut out some shelve liner lay it between your fabric and ruler it will not slip

    • @scrapinmaniac

      Do you cut the shelve liner along with the fabric?

      No all you need is small piece put in middle of 5 in ruler a little bigger for larger rulers or several pieces you do not cut it with your fabric

    I sew but now do some quilting. Why do mfcs rip quilters with some, not all of their products.....I have to be very mission critical for any of those products at those prices. Some things you have to get, some others, my thought is " necessity is the mother of invention.....lol.
