We explored a remote lake that almost killed us to get to, but in the end it was all worth it... Follow Joey on Instagram: @troutbandit Subscribe for more!
Northern Scavenger this particular spot was off of one of the only points in the lake and has some deadfall reaching out into 'deep' water (8-10'). Small deep pothole lakes are pretty uniform around so you can generally stay put in a spot with a good spread of all depths and eventually something will make its way around
Great video, looks like you had an incredible day. I fish with sticks as well, im curious about your bells & if they are noisy on windy days? Where can I buy the style of bells you are using?
I don't recall these ever being a problem in the wind, and these are readily available in most shops around here, don't believe they have any branding. I dont like the big cowbell style bells.
very nice brook, Thanks for sharing/releasing the beasting.. thanks for keeping location a secret too. plenty of great lakes to fish for anyone willing to do some research.. first time watching one of your videos, subbed.
cheezus g we definitely bushwhacked our way in, found a slightly easier way out haha Any branch that's green and flexible will work, spruce, cedar, alder all work great
I know they let go all their fish, but this is backwards thinking for stocked brookie lakes if people are keeping fish. If you're going to keep fish from stocked lakes please keep the big ones and let the small ones go. Brook trout are naturally fast growing and short lived and in stocked lakes don't breed sucessfully, the only way to maintain a population of big fish is to maintain the population of small fish so they can get big.
Awesome video! Can you ask your camera man what kinda gear he uses, specifically for audio? Looks like you have a lav mic clipped on...wondering if it's waterproof or is he worries about that....
cdnfishinvids thanks man. Right now we're running a Canon T6i for our main footage and we sometimes run go pros for our secondary footage. Alot of the time I'll just pop my cell phone out as it's quick and easy with pretty good quality. As for the mic. It is a lav mic and we just run audio recording software on one of our phones then sync the audio in editing. Lots of work doing it that way but efficient lol
Appreciate the reply, looks like lav mic is the way to go, just have it running all the time and worry about syncing it up later? How do you go about finding music?
Yup exactly. It can be pretty tedious to sync up, but definitely worth it. And for the music, I didn't want to worry about infringement or have someone elses video contain the same audio track, so I programmed all that music myself. But there is a lot of stock music out there available to you, just might take a bit to find what you're looking for. Good luck man!
@The Wooded Beardsman. Hey man i recognize you. You fish Manitoulin for bows in the spring at Sheguiandah, right? This lake Joey is fishing is not far from my house. We fish it in the spring every year. I'll tell you where it is when i see you this April/May.
Big girl made the video! I would like to add some Drone footage to your videos but you have to take me fishing ! Great video! I also use the same set up but with a orange ribbon.
I've seen the remnants of sticks left in the ice that I guess people were using for this style of fishing. Good to see it in action. Nice fish! I see from your answer to another dude's question that you program your own music. I do that also. What software do you like using? I'm a big Reason fan.
Bud that fish is like 2 lbs not 5😂. And u don’t put ur hands in the gills of any fish big or small in less ur keeping it. That fish is dead. All of them u need to know how to take care of trout bud
The largest fish was in the 4-4.5 lbs range, not 5. I agree it wasnt the best handling (excitement got the best of me), but she spent most of the time in water staying wet and kicked off strong, no blood. I've seen trout recaptured over a year later that were handled far worse, so certainly not a death sentence.
@@fishingontario9868 it's definitely dead now, thats for sure. Hatchery reared brookies in excess of 20" are almost always in their last year (usually less) of life. And I guarentee that lake didnt get fished again for as long as that fish could have possibly survived, so I think so I can sleep peacefully at night knowing your opinion. 😉
Awesome...what lake...
Great brookie
sweet that you put her back
Good vid!
Enjoyed the video. What do you look for when choosing a hole for winter brook trout?
Northern Scavenger thanks! Are you referring to choosing a lake, or choosing an area of the lake to fish?
Outcast Angling choosing an area of a lake

Nice big Brookies!
what a beauty of a brookie.
Great fishing action. Good job on the filming.
Thank you very much. Now if we could only find time to get out and make more videos!
What an awesome video!! Need to make more!

Well done, some nice fish
CL Outside thanks for watching!
Dandy trout, well done. We used to catch some big ones like that here on Avalon Peninsula of Newfoundland years ago but not any more.
Man what an incredible fish! Congrats on that.
very nice brook, Thanks for sharing/releasing the beasting..
thanks for keeping location a secret too. plenty of great lakes to fish for anyone willing to do some research..
first time watching one of your videos, subbed.
Thanks! Trophy brook trout only exist in places with minimal angling pressure around here, since catch and release is a foreign concept to most LOL
What was the yellow spot on the second big fish? I’ve seen it before and have always wondered what it was.
I wish I had an answer for ya! I too have seen it many times. I'm guessing it's a 'birth mark' of sorts
Haven't tried ice fishing yet but sposed to go next wkend. How is that twig and line n spool actually set up?
Great video man ! Now im pumped for winter brookies!!
this the lake we talked about when we met up??
Great job out there boys!!
Adam Craig Outdoors nah man, this lake is up north more. A good drive to reach lol
That trail in doesn't look like a trail at all. What kind of stick catches more fish?
cheezus g we definitely bushwhacked our way in, found a slightly easier way out haha

I think 21" x 13.5 and probly 4.5. Great fish.
Good footage too, keep it up Joey.
Just A Beaver Pond probably a very good guess! Thanks for kind words, hopefully the next video has a genuine 5+
Beauty brookies!
and a release on the big girl!! that's how to do it guys.

@@forfrigsakes3330 you are right, I agree 100% . On this day we kept 1 medium (18.5") fish.
@@outcastangling6382 Awesome, I got a 21" female the other day, it's walleye this weekend for a local derby. 18.5 are great size
Nice Brooke’s !!

Chris Makowka a remote stocked brook trout lake in northern Ontario. Thousands to choose from

FYI, the stew was delicious people!!
Outcast Angling atta boy grouse it up
When are you taking me and Jeremy out?
Don't plan on ever showing that lake to anyone, lol. Somewhere else...sure!
I see.

Myles Joly well, thats gotta happen!
Myles I want to go on that fishing trip also. Joey's video, my photos and your eyes in the sky. That would make for an excellent video!
😳🤭. This is epic.

Sorry for the late reply! I usually just use a generic DAW program and run a midi keyboard with virtual instruments. - cameraman rob
Saw that whopper brook trout, quick release, subscribed.

Outcast Angling ok bud that fish is most likely dead and not 4.5lbs but ok😂

Is that a native
I suspect that there is reproduction in that lake, but the big fish were most likely stocked as 6-8" yearlings.
Outcast Angling here in Newfoundland it’s all natives but it’s really rewarding when you get a monster
other fish was much bigger..... right
ThePdsharpe
...huh?
I clearly corrected myself in the video.
It was a joke posted it before you corrected yourself.
Awesome vid man! Check out my trout fishing video I catch a nice brown trout with my son and wife in southern Indiana USA
Up zone 15 way or wa, love the vid man gotta enjoy backwoods trecking for those lakes
Nope nowhere near fmz 15 but thx for the kind words! It's undoubtedly my favourite type of fishing
