I took my wife-to-be to Ma Padoes, in 1972. She hailed from just t’other side of Brummagem, but she couldn’t understand a word that anyone said! She said it was like being in a foreign country; and she meant it! 😂

Found this by accident, thanks Tim for the guided tour and history lesson, brings back some fond memories of sinking a pint of original with the ham cobs and raw onions back in the 70’s and 80’s. You are absolutely right about Syd he was an absolute gentleman and very courteous, and the stove in the bar was very welcome in the winter months too. This pub was frequented by many of my work colleagues both at lunchtime and when extended on the side for evening meals. I will have to pay it a visit when we are allowed hopefully in the not too distant future.

Amazing place. Having worked in a brewery before, the Old Swan Brewery prompts recalls of however little I knew of beer making. The pub and the lounge are great too. I like particularly the full peddle organ and the fireplace. So England, so British. Thank you for uploading. If I ever have a chance to visit England I shall drop in for a pint or two over meal.

Many happy memories of a lunchtime drink at Ma Pardoes when I worked in Great Bridge and later in Tipton in the late 1980's. Good to see that it is still unchanged and very original. I live in Cheshire but hope to come back one day. The Black Country has some of the best pubs and beer in the country.👍

My mate from west brom used to drink in here in around 77, cuz it was the cheapest pint for miles!!
I popped in about 2002, lovely boozer. I live abroad now, but hopefully i will be in brum in march 2024.
Is it on a bus route from either west brom or brum?
