The little bits of "gravel" that are kicked into the audience from the stage are actually soft little rubber pieces. Felt like a shredded tire. Not harmful at all. None of us in the front row minded...it just made the show more immersive!
I just saw it - from the front row - and I think it’s one of the best new musicals I’ve seen in many years, if not THE best.
The score, the cast, the set…I cried and I never cry. I was choking back sobs sitting next to strangers on either side of me. I also laughed. “It was better than Cats!” 😅
Wonderful show, and I hope it runs and runs and gets made into a movie.
I acrually loved the rubber gravel--I was in the second row and was hit with a good deal of it, but I loved how immersive it made the show feel. Also, there is a warning label on the first two rows which lets buyers know ahead of time in case they don't want to purchase tickets there.
I thoroughly enjoy your commentary. I don’t live within driving distance of nyc, so I appreciate your thoughtful and thorough coverage of what’s new on Broadway. Especially with so many shows opening! I discovered your channel while planning a marathon weekend of shows when we made a trip in February. I look forward to another trip in February next year hopefully during the discounts of “Broadway week.” I will enjoy your videos vicariously for now, and use them later to decide what to see!
Joshua Boone as Dally delivered one of the best acting performances ive seen on Broadway, especially during "Little Brother". Despite the fact they butchered his death. However, the rest of the show felt flat.
So many of the songs are characters standing, sitting, or kneeling in place in songs that lack any sort of real emotion.
Further, can they at least TRY to draw more parallels between the greasers and socs? I mean Cherry sings to us about how Bob was good even though no one knew....SHOW US. Cherry's got home issues? SHOW US. Johnny got abused and jumped? SHOW US. Darrel lost his entire future? SHOW US. The show is terrible at making us feel any attachment to these characters.
Skye was the worst actor ive seen on Broadway. He made me want to laugh during sad scenes.
I can't believe they cancelled and the way it ended .They always cancel the good ones, queen of the south, reign, and the last kingdom, and leave stupid one on forever
thanks for this review...had the show on my list to see when i am in town in a few weeks........so the big question is....DO YOU THINK IT WILL RUN AFTER THE TONY NOMINATIONS ARE ANNOUNCED.....if it does not score many??????
If it does well in nominations but no wins, not a prolonged run. At best through the holidays. If minimal nominations, it’ll close by Labor Day.
So speaks the sage of Broadway himself.
@@michaelcoluccio2097 lol I’ll readily admit that I’ve been wrong before. MJ and & Juliet have run far longer than I anticipated. I’ll say that I hope I’m wrong in this case.
I enjoyed the rumble sequences, but that was pretty much the extent of it for me, sadly. West Side Story lite. Not for me.
