I've experienced females only getting excommunicated, there was a guy who continued serving in his office while the pastors knew about the "sin". The lady on the other hand was excommunicated during the people. She was stripped off her duties,so you can only imagine how she felt afterwards.
We were an Amish family and decided to leave the church and join a Mennonite church. The Bishop of the Amish church did not want to excommunicate us so he didn't. The church said he must excommunicate us or be removed from office of Bishop. Now the Bishop sent the Deacon to inform us that if we don't return to the Amish church in the next 4 weeks we will be excommunicated and shunned. There is not 1 sin that they informed us we committed but this will be done anyway. What are your thoughts? We have left the Amish church @ 11 Months ago and are members already at the Mennonite church for 7 weeks now. After all this time now they show up and want to start shunning and excommunicating us. I am just curious what your thought are on this. We Love all the people at the old Church and have no problems getting along with them to this day. We have even had phone calls from 5 members of the Amish church to tell us they love us and will always still be friends regardless what the church decides on shunning excommunicating etc. Enough blabber for now.
Hi Norman. im so sorry that you're going through this. I just need to understand, you old church wants to excommunicate you while you are no longer serving under their church? How will it then work when you are submitted under a new church? I just want to understand before giving my thoughts
1 verse that comes to mind is judge not lest ye be judged and another verse is let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Really we all fall short of the glory of God so that's why Jesus paid our sin debt on the cross. It seems we get twisted up In Scriptures and trying to do this right and that right and striving for perfection that we often times forget the simple fact the jesus paid our sin debt so excommunicated or not if you asked God to forgive you he did .not that we should go out and keep sinning because he will forgive us but as humans we have a sin nature and struggle with it

Interesting controversial topic 🤔 church discipline is good out of love thou, but it's old thing, practice.
So you believe the “new thing” is to have no church discipline at all in churches?
