Rev. Dr. Don Wagner recently retired as national program director of Friends of Sabeel-North America. Prior to that he was a professor of Middle East studies at North Park University, where he was also the director of its Center for Middle Eastern Studies. During the 1980s he was the national director of the Palestine Human Rights Campaign. An ordained Presbyterian minister, Rev. Wagner has served churches in New Jersey and Evanston, IL. He is the author or co-author of five books dealing with Palestinian human rights, Christian Zionism, a theological critique of Zionism and a history of Christianity in Palestine-Israel. These include Anxious for Armageddon: A Call to Partnership for Middle Eastern and Western Christians (1995) , Zionism and the Quest for Justice in the Holy Land (2014) and Dying in the Land of Promise: Palestine and Palestinian Christianity from Pentecost to 2000 (2003).
The history and theology of Christian Zionism is a central topic of the book he is currently writing.

Why should anyone go after dispensationalism, when we got clear Bible verses?
Just read Deuteronomy 28 and 30 chapters. Also, Ezekiel 36 and 37 chapters. These chapters clearly explain the restoration of Jews after their punishment of world wide exile.
In the N.T, Jesus himself spoke about the rule of Gentile nations of Jerusalem and it will come to an end. Means, Jerusalem has to come back to Jewish rule, once Gentile rule is over. That happened in 1967 war.
Romans 9 to 11 chapters clearly mentions restoration of Israel once the number of Gentile elects are completed. Once that happens Jesus comes back and thereafter no more proclamation of Gospel. Instead the whole world will accept Jewish form of worship.
See Ezekiel 40 to 47 chapters and Zechariah 14.
We see the end times Jerusalem Temple in Ezekiel 37:21-28, Ezekiel chapters 40 to 44,
2 Thess chapter 2:4, Revelation 11:1-2.
Many Christians falsely think that no more physical Temple will be built, instead each N.T believer is God's Temple. Certainly each believer is the Temple of God. That is right. But it doesn't end there.
My earnest appeal to Christians is please leave aside false teachers. Go after clear Bible verses. That is enough.
It is God Almighty who scattered Jews all over the world. It is same God Almighty who foretold about their restoration. Which is happening right before our eyes!
So whom should we support? Israel or Palestine?
My answer is none of them. We Christians must stand with God Almighty and His decision. Nothing more, nothing less!

Thank you, Rev Don Wagner, for your speech. There is a lot in it that is worthy of comment but I want to address one important point: the relationship between Christianity and Judaism. You say that in our struggle we have a problem because we are always afraid to criticize zionism. In reality the problem is we are afraid to criticize Judaism. You mention Judeo-Christianity but this is an oxymoron. True Christian theology is this: By His sacrifice on the Cross Jesus fulfilled and completed the old covenant such that Judaism became irrelevant and meaningless. Especially after the AD 70 destruction of Jerusalem, as prophesied by Jesus, there is no more temple, no more animal sacrifices, no more genealogical priestly records, no more dietary laws, and no more “chosenness.” In short, there is no more Jewish religion. Salvation is now open to everybody upon faith in Jesus as the incarnate Christ and the Jews, like everybody else, have to accept Him as the Messiah and become Christian. To believe anything else would be a heresy. You said that evangelical zionism (the so-called “Christian zionism”) should be regarded as a heresy. Indeed. It is similar to the heresy confronted by the Disciples in the first century because it is a heresy of judaizing Christianity. More than rejecting a Jewish state, in Palestine or anywhere, Christians must reject any attempt to consider Judaism as a viable “religion.” Most people are afraid to even consider this idea because of the zionist political intimidation of the “anti-Semitic” accusation. But it is precisely this standpoint that has to be taken to confront both the zionist settler-colony itself and the heretical “evangelical zionists.”
