@@RonanThomas-cy8st He's probably talking about 00:50 because that melody was played at times where Simba would think of his Father, also, that "Father, don't leave me!" night sky scene.
@@ericoftheotherworld1525 You hit the nail on the head. If you slow down the track just right, it almost sounds like that scene too. I like to think that this was the first soundtrack I ever heard when I was a kid. I was really young when I played this game, and the first level was the one I spent the most time on. The fact I still come back after all the kinds of music I've listened to says a lot about how much talent and care went into it.
The nostalgia from hearing this brings back memories. I spent more time listening to this particular track of the entire ost than I did actually attempting to finish the game.
Couldn't have said it better played this on sega genesis with my grandpa teaching me the controls may he rest in peace damn this song nostalgia embodiment 😔

@@MarMaxGaming Hi, chiptune composer here! To answer your question, the reason that the Genesis / MD version is superior to the SNES / SFC version is because the Genesis OST was composed by a professional composer named Matt Furniss, whereas the SNES OST was composed by several at the time inexperienced composers. The resulting OST on the SNES is very rushed sounding and pretty amateur whereas Matt‘s work is more refined and professional quality.
@@UhrwerkKlockwerx that’s all fine, and I hear why somebody could prefer Genesis over the snes but when listening to both sound tracks, there are some I’d prefer on snes than genesis. There’s the voice “hum” which genesis didn’t have, and some songs from genesis have a really high whistling note that some might find more annoying than what the snes had. My point was it still comes down to taste at the end of the day, like it really isn’t that cut and dry at all.
@@MarMaxGaming The SNES used a lot of off key MIDI samples, it's very hard for me to listen to especially with years of experience under my belt. I understand some of your concerns with the Genesis, I can clear them up here. There's no "hum" in this track because the Genesis only has one sample channel. If the 32x add-on was used, that could possibly provide the extra channel needed to add that in. It all comes down to _hardware limitations._ You must keep in mind what we are working with here. The SNES uses 8 sample channels and a single square channel (mainly for white noise for SFX) and was very easy to make music for. The Genesis/SMD required more time and skill because it's *not sample based,* it has 6 channels of 4-op FM and it only has one sample channel and four square channels (the SN7). If the sample channel was used, it used the FM6 channel and left only 5 channels for FM. This meant you had to be more creative when writing music for it. Additionally, there's no 'annoying high pitch whistle' that I can hear anywhere. I also have very sensitive hearing, so that further confuses me. If there was something annoying like that in the tracks I would've known about it ages ago. If you're using an emulator, it could be bad FM emulation, since it IS pretty difficult to get right.

It's great to hear these tubes again I fidn that the mega drive and SNES had great gaming music. It's weird because certain music sounded better on each console that the other and some games were better on one or the other. Alien 3 I found was miles better on the SNES than the mega drive but Lion King and Aladdin were better on Mega Drive
Fr Ik Super Nintendo version is nice but sega has more upbeat beat toons and our screen has better resolution but Super Nintendo is is mushed up Best Lion King Is FOR SEGA GENESIS
This track always made me want to cry with how sad it sounds.
Seriously, it is not sad at all. It sounds better than the super Nintendo version I think.

Every other level: WHAT THE FFFFFFUUU
Simba's exile was pretty easy lol so was Simba's destiny
cocolover123 simbas exile is only easy if you move quickly
Level 2 was hard as f*** ..... The monkeys and the stupid ostrich 😡😡😡😡😡
Simba just had to say he couldn't wait to be king😒

God, this song still slaps and takes me back. ❤️genesis
The memories !
One of the best movie based games ever, but one of the hardest along with Toy Story.
Can't explain.....just need this right now.....
Neighbor came over with this game one evening so we could try it. Remember dad coming to watch because this track was so beautiful 😊.
So nostalgic!!!!
Recuerdo que jugaba esto en una computadora donde tenia muchos juegos de SEGA y este venia incluido.
Dios que recuerdos :")

This version is way better than the snes one.

This was one of the final Genesis games to have its be done by Matt Furniss.

The NES version might be more impressive in how it can recreate sounds with just the 8 bit tech, but this is far more catchy. That bassline yo
