ok so i heard this set on soundcloud for ages and loved it on a daily basis, and have actually just seen tommy47 now n he's actually totally freakin hot as well as bein a musical genius, there's a feeling and an atmosphere he creates i've never heard anywhere else what a star x x x

It doesn't take years to perfect and I used cdj's for years... and even now with my midi controller I have to beatmatch a lot of the time because sync isn't always accurate. It's mechanical. It's a skill no doubt, but what's creative about it? Once you learn it that's it... it's mathematics. It's either right or wrong. It's not like track selection, set progression, and creative mixing and how you mix. If it honestly took you years to perfect then I feel for you.

I don't really agree. Playing lossless files like FLAC or WAV is naturally preferable, but you're kidding yourself if you think there is such a drastic difference. It's a placebo effect. I've had a wav encoded into 320kbps and listened to both for a couple track on headphones and couldn't tell the difference and neither could friends. On a proper rig it's obviously a bit different, but it's minor. A track that's 320kbps with a good mixdown is better than a track on vinyl with average mastering.

But you're right about a degression of sound quality being a byproduct of technological progress. I think the economics of music consumption has a lot to do with it. Not easy having a catalogue of wav on a harddrive. Piracy has a lot to do with it too. It's sloppy to play rips and shit like that but if they're genuine 320 bitrate tracks, it's really not bad. I'd be very intrigued if you were able to discern between wav and mp3 with such ease where one is perfect and one is "awful".
