I am participating in this challenge and we are striving to go through March buying nothing except dairy products, medical needs, pet needs, and if needed whatever it takes to run the household like trash bags, toilet paper, cleaners and so on. Since I made a boo boo on Dec. 31 getting in my last minute order of fresh produce and ended up with doubles and triples of carrots, onions, celery, various lettuces and other greens, radishes, cabbages and so on....we are basing most of our meals at this time around getting the more delicate produce used up first along with whatever meat and other sides that are in our freezer or pantry. we've had salads, we've had roasted veggies, we've had stir fry veggies, we've had boiled or baked veggies, we've had raw veggies and we're adding veggies to places we normally wouldn't. Haven't discovered anything new, but at least we're eating it up. We're saving the vegetable and fruit scraps for the neighbors and my in laws farm birds and critters...we get eggs in return, so we're happy with that. IF we happen not to get all of our leftovers used up or frozen in time, we're feeding those to the wild critters around here...and there are a lot as there is a wildlife sancturary about a mile up the road....so I'm sure all these little foxes, skunks, raccoons, bobcats, deer, oppossums, the feral houscats, and whatever else is out there is enjoying some good stuff too. Gotta take care of Mama earth and her inhabitants as well as ourselves.
Fabulous!!!!
I'll give you my cheat recipe for apple butter bbq'd pork 😁 I use my home canned apple butter and add it to our favorite bbq sauce. Ive tried all kinds of different recipes for bbq sauce and have never liked any. Our favorite is Sweet Baby Rays. Add as much apple butter to your liking and voila...The best pork chops, roast, pulled pork or ribs 😉
Oh that's a great idea!!! Thanks for that!!!!
hi Lynn - I've found that I really like the Ball book for pulled pork. Its just sweet enough and not too vinegary. Plus you can prep a couple roasts for meal size. This is my go to recipe when there's a sale on pork shoulder or butt roasts.
Honestly part of the problem was the roast itself. It was extremely fatty 😞
The blueberry muffins and pizza crust look perfect! The beef stew looks yummy too. I also have a container of greens that I wasn’t crazy about (mixed with water) that I need to use up and add to smoothies.
This one has stevia in it 🤢 we hate stevia! I don't know how I missed that!
@@BucketListHomestead The brand that I bought has stevia in it too (Bloom berry flavor).
I love your shirt too! I canned some beef stew in August as well. I almost opened a jar tonight and decided we better eat what’s in the fridge first. Now I really wish I had eaten it! It will be on the plan for tomorrow! I felt like my first week was about using up leftovers too. I was kind of disappointed. I’m anxious for when I get well to get started back at creating new foods. You make me want to get started right now! Keep up the good work! 😁
I hope u feel better soon!!!
Love your shirt Lynn !❤❤😊
Thank u
Haha Sparky, mine is called Johnny 5.
Thanks for sharing your hearth and home with us. Just wanted to share that when I make pulled pork, I just make it plain, so it's a blank pallet and then everyone can sauce it or top it with whatever they like. Typically they like Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce, but you so could put some apple butter right on your sandwich if you wished. Thanks again - I'm a new subscriber and I'm loving what I've seen so far!
Thank you! And welcome!
Awesome lineup of recipes.
Thank you 😊
First week went pretty good for us. Like you we had holiday leftovers (remakes) but I did try a new recipe. I have several bags of lentils that need to be used up this month so I tried lentil taco "meat" I didn't care for the texture much. So the leftovers I blended up like refried beans and added some actual hamburger, seasoned it back up as taco meat and served it as a toppings on potato nachos. That was better and more palatable texturally. I would serve that again and just might as I I now have more leftover taco "meat" lol
I’ve seen people use lentils to stretch ground beef! You did it without even trying!😊 great job trying something new!
That's a great way to stretch meat too!
Hi, I think the missing mustard in the pulled pork would have made it more savoury. That would have turned it into more of a bbq type sauce/flavour. The sriracha will have made it more savoury too and cut through the sweetness. Otherwise everything looked great 😊
Yes I will leave the honey out next time. Unfortunately we don't like sriracha but I'm gonna keep trying
I agree. The siracha definitely cuts through the vinegar and sweetness. The mustard would make a difference too.
Lovely recipes....Muffins coming in the morning! Thanks...ever put any other fruit in them?
Oh yes! I've down strawberries too. And chocolate chips 😊
I am here from Jessicas channel...she said to check you out....great video...love your channel and joined
Welcome!!
The leftover prime rib and potato bake looked good. I need to make pizza dough. And those hamburger buns look delicious!
Something that I use on pork butt that I can (to be used as pulled pork) is a packet of McCormick ONE Sheet Pan Bourbon Pork seasoning. I haven't used it in the crockpot, but I imagine it would be good. I use it as a rub and cook it in the oven (cut up) for 20 -30 minutes and then can it. I mix it with store-bought bbq sauce when I get ready to serve it. I haven't gotten adventurous enough to make my own bbq sauce 😊 You could rub it and cook in the crock pot. It's also good on pork chops.
I have lots of canned BBQ sauce but I was trying to use up apple butter. But I'm going to mix apple butter with my own BBQ sauce next time!
New to your channel and I’m really enjoying it... 😊
Welcome!! And thank you!!!
Loved this video! Great ideas! New subscriber now too btw!
Thanks for subbing!
I have found our recipe for hamburger buns that we like because my husband actually loves the spongey store bought ones so I had to search to find ones that turned out like a healthier store bought one 😂 we like to do Philly cheesesteak with any leftover steak but that looked yummy. Super great meals. I am trying to use up things in the pantry so I made a chocolate almond coconut granola which came out tasty and different then my normal cinnamon one. Going to make some sort of treat today like brownies or a cake and hopefully some banana bread later in the week with bananas if I can find them in the freezer…. If not pumpkin because I have tons of it.
Oh yes, I have lots of pumpkin lol 😆
Hi Lynn I made beef stew a few days ago and I also made some mini blueberry muffins lol Great minds think alike!
Yep!!! 🤣
Lynn sorry your disappointed in your pulled pork. I have good recipes I use with pulled pork. One is the BBQ ribs recipe I got from my sister and the other is a sloppy joe recipe I got from a lady my oldest daughter worked with. Either one is really good. Can't wait to see the nexted pulled pork you try. I have to say your measuring out the pizza sauce ingredients and i want to follow you around with a container to catch it and measure it LOL But I guess we all have that recipe we make so much we don't measure any more LOL Thanks. Blessings and prayers
So the pizza sauce is about a table spoon each of basil and oregano. A pinch of salt and half a table spoon of honey.
Gosh that leftover prime rib and potato’s looked really good! Did you blanch the potatoes before freezing them?
I have to watch my video where I made them because I honestly can't remember 🤣🤣😂😂 and it was really good!!!
Yes I did lol
@@BucketListHomestead can you link it I’d love to make those!
@@mandiesplace ua-cam.com/video/LPQ-ShCgh0Y/v-deo.htmlsi=igtfJfh3iw3oDWdk
We love them. I've been making them for a few years now
What did it taste like without the reserved sauce on it?
Ok. Honestly the roast itself was just too fatty.
@@BucketListHomestead ok. Well I’m sure you will tweek it until it’s perfect!!
