To my eyes the best team game in the last two years. They all made plays today that gave me chills. Every single kid was at their best. So happy for them. (and also happy for me)
Just another day in the life of a Great Coach.... He is the Essential Positive Coach... First Q the team is down big and he takes a time out and boom as if he lit the fuse on the cannon!!!! Just watch them Goooooooooooooo!!! Happy New Year!!!!!🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀
Paige naturally has more of a Lebron/Magic mindset more so than a Bird/Jordan/Kobe/Caitlin mindset in terms of being offensively aggressive. That's fine if she has players who are better natural scorers than her (i.e. like Magic had Kareem early on), but like Lebron she happens to also be the most talented scorer on her team. So she needs to adopt that other mindset for the betterment for her team. Even though it may feel uncomfortable because she's a natural faciliator, she needs to start aggressive (as she said). If she does they will continue to have big victories against good teams like Marquette. If not, these games will be closer or they may get upset.
There is a great article in the Athletic that says Paige needs to play more like Caitlin Clark (taking more shots) in order for UConn to succeed. She's the best and most clutch shooter on the team.
Paige is a all around player no doubt,I wonder if Azzi had her surgery yet I expected to see her on the side bench like Paige use to be when she was injured, this got to be killing her to watch fr home why couldn't we get them to play at the same time ,cuz 17 gms together is ridiclious
From what I understand, Azzi had her surgery and she's resting back home in suburban DC. Geno said in a presser that she will meet up w/ the team when they play Georgetown in DC on Sunday, Jan. 7.
"player of the game ...no, never Paige". I get it, but it's amazing how great Paige is on both ends and she gets no credit. She was far and away the best player on the floor and no even talks about her. Not so with Clark, Brink, Watkins, etc and it hurts Paige on a national level. I know Geno is working on getting every other player confidence and he doesn't need to that with Paige and doesn't want to elevate her to the point where teammates just watch her. I get it, but teams fearing Paige is big advantage for UConn and there isnt enough recognition of her greatness to maximize that. Coming off an injury and 584 days without a game, she's under the radar and that's not best first UConn. She's the best player in the NCAA and everyone needs to be reminded, intimidation is huge trump card, and they's not playing it.
@@Robertjames525 you're the narrow minded one, and can't read. I never said Geno doesn't know it, I SAID he doesn't SAY it, maybe you can think hard and try to understand the difference. The entire point is about SM and the advantage a player's rep can be. Mike Tyson's opponents lost before they ever got in the ring. There's a national narrative that Paige is still getting back into it and there's an implicit belief that she may not be the same player....that's false and does nothing for UConn. You want them having to spend time game planning for her, fearing her, it optimizes her gravity and she's great enough to take full advantage of the extra attention. Geno's approach is completely oriented to uplifting the others, which is fine tactically. Strategically, he's not maximizing the ultra rare opportunity of having the best player in the country, on the floor and especially off. Think harder.
Hmmmm... seems to me, Bueckers doesn't need to be talked about in order to be intimidating; she plays, and she intimidates with her play. I don't know that talking about her would make her more intimidating. If you think she is the best player in the NCAA, I am willing to bet every team in the NCAA knows she is really, really, really good; Marquette tried to establish a defense focused on Paige Bueckers, and for 6 minutes, it worked. But, we both know that defense was trash - THAT'S intimidating. Other teams see her box score, and they know they are going to be in the grinder when they play UConn and Bueckers. That's intimidation.
@@cbrend22 Actually Paige is still finding her way, she has not peaked for this year. once she decides to be that aggressive person like caitlyn clark you will then see her game elevate more and then you will see the best player in the country.
@@warreng7138 Nika seriously strained one of her ankles her freshman year during the NCAA tournament Once that happens to an ankle, it's a bigger risk for it to happen again. I'm sure the braces are worn to help prevent another ankle sprain.
There are several vids with players reacting/responding about playing for Coach A. Those videos say a lot about what we don't see, hear, feel. Judgmental? Nearly 40 years. 11 championships. Probably the most WNBA players. Come on now.. the players are there, and is there any change between the first 7 games, and now??? If the players hated playing for UConn's coach, they wouldn't go there, and they wouldn't be playing, would they??? But, they're there...
It’s literally his job to be judgmental 😊 I don’t see smug in him, but I do see 11 championships in the last 28 years. If anyone would have the right to be smug, I guess it would have to be him.
If my kid was great, I’d be flat stupid to send her elsewhere. I’ve seen so many players on other teams that are no better as seniors than they were as freshmen. WNBA teams (if that’s a goal) know that a good UConn grad knows how to play the game. Great players gravitate to UConn because they want to be greater. They want to be optimized.

"...at their best." I hope not... it's a long way til March; much to early to be "at their best."
I still say geno is the best coach ever in the country and in any sport 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉Excellent game UConn girls 👧 happy new year 🎊🎆🎈
AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!
He brought a whole sport to another level and I am not sure people want to acknowledge that due to his gender.

Geno and his coaches are the best in the country! And that’s it ! Look what they have done with what they have injuries etc. UConn is strong !
Great game Huskies and super interview Coach! Happy New Year.
Won despite down 0-10 early. Super win ladies.🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀
Paige is playing the 4 spot which is not her natural position, so yes she has to learn how to get her spots.
Well the first ten points of the game, I had thought that Marquette was going to murder us, but then we woke up.
Low turnovers, good ball movement on offense, smart shooting choices. Made it look easy.. which is hard to do!

You’re to narrow minded, geno knows and respects what he has in paige!
I see what your point is but there's no way Paige is flying under any radar. everybody in the country knows who she is and what her game is.

Why does Niki Muhl wear ankle weights? I am 75nyears old and I have never seen another college or Pro player wear them in a game?
They're not weights. They're ankle supports.
