The story I heard was at the Twitch office, they contacted by Forbes that they were on the list. They asked around the office who wanted it, and some random dude took it. Not merit based at all, just randomly chosen from hyped up companies.

Fun fact: I nannied a baby from 3 months to 9 months then he showed up 20 yrs later on the list. I take all the credit bc I read to him and played Tracie Chapman everyday
When I was younger I thought it was the real deal, but once I actually read it I saw that they don't try to hide the blatant nepotism. "Stepped down to prioritize their role as a shareholder" is something I've seen more than once.
I was on the list. I didn't even apply, but a journalist I was in contact with as a source for other things offered to nominate me. I got on on the strength of that. I never had to pay anything, but in order to attend the "summit" they had for the hundreds of others who made the list that year, I think there was a registration fee. I had scarcely even heard of it before I got on it and I just assumed my reporter friend was trying to be nice to me.
My dad is a super straight-laced guy and we don’t share the same sense of humor for the most part, but I send him all your videos and he likes them lol Keep up the “good work”. Love your channel!!
Best part of the video is the ending sketch during the credits. It's okay to not be successful at 30, in fact, if you are successful before thirty, chances are you cut some corners somewhere to get there.

I’m on that list. Was nominated by an old colleague. I will say that one of the positives was that generated donations for the charity I worked for at the time. Went to one of the summits though and it did seem like a marketing ploy rather than anything useful for those attending. Hopefully I’m not on a fast track to prison!
A surprisingly uplifting ending - I do think social media and the internet puts a lot of pressure on young people to succeed, be celebrated and get rich. Sometimes just having a good time, being a good person and having a good life is more than enough

I have a digital marketing agency and it's really sad that most people don't realize that 99% of everything you see on the internet is for profit. Blogs, newsletters, pretty much everything has a for profit agenda
As someone who was recently awarded "Top 37 year old by 37 different, INDEPENDENTLY OWNED AND OPERATED, beef jerky companies" (most notably, Slim Jim) I can confirm that the whole process felt (much like the jerky tasted) less than savory.
Not saying it’s a scam but there sure are plenty of scammers that end up on this list. It’s like Truly’s Bling Life but with a “respectable” publication’s name to make it legitimate. At least I know who’s gonna end up in a scandal.
There’s definitely an ego factor that pressured or drive some of those top 30 under 30 winners into criminal activities because they cannot accept failure. The list is a danger to have as it not only strive you to be the best at a very young age, but also limited their ability to experience failure and learn from it. Most of the people in the top 100 riches list are all over 50, even 60-90 years old for a reason.
Yea probably only one in a billion people actually succeed in business in their 20s, e,g., Jobs, Gates, Dell, Zuck, and it’s not without extreme luck and unfair resources around them. To expect anyone to achieve those standards in their 20s is beyond unrealistic.

When I was 29, I could stay up all night and drink all day and eat whenever I wanted. At 30, I fall asleep by 7:30, I can barely finish a light beer, and a late dinner is 4:45 AT THE MOST.

haven't watched the whole video but it surely is for some people - i used to work for a guy some time ago, and he paid around 60000 dollars for the photo and feature and his name was indeed on the list (EDUCATION section). it's quite a joke.

haven't watched the whole video but it surely is for some people - i used to work for a guy some time ago, and he paid around 60000 dollars for the photo and feature and his name was indeed on the list (EDUCATION section). it's quite a joke.
