- We install a Victron solar system on this Airstream Globetrotter with Flexible solar panels from Merlin . We generally are skeptical of flexible panels, but we're cautiously optimistic.

Basic question; how long and what year is this Airstream?
Great looking install. Do you have a video on the compartment lights you install for WOW factor?
Maybe back a few years ago I think we did one. Maybe it was last spring, it’s been a blur :-) .
Okay you seem to know what you’re talking about👍 I have 2x 200 amp 12 volt lithium batteries in my pop top caravan. I want to mount solar panels on the roof. Weight is important as I have push it up. would you use 4wd type or domestic. Should I run the panels in series or parallel, and what specs should take priority when buying the mppt. The system will ultimately run into a 3000watt inverter. Thanks
I’ve been hearing good things about the CIGS style flexible panels, or these Merlins. If you can get even numbers I’d do series pairs. So 2s2p, giving you a mix of both.
A 100/50 solar charger would be fine.
How are the SOK batteries connected with the battleborn batteries?
Ran the 2/0 cable from the tongue box to the main battery location. Fused 200a both ends.
Too much talking can you please show the work!!!
Sorry, we had a lot to say on this one.
Aahhh, Sota is short for Minnesota!!
I honestly thought you might’ve been sone kind of Latino!!
I’m unaware of the Latino connection, but yes it is short for Minnesota. Around here it’s a common abbreviation.
I’m from Los Angeles, Sota is a common Latino last name here.
Another great install video. Thank you!
CIGS Yuma flexible panels from BougeRV are at a similar price point to these Merlin panels yet outperform in shaded and overall durability.
Outperform Merlin?
Shawn, Curious what the pros/cons of the fan relay configured through the Multiplus vs a Temperature trigger using a Ruuvi tag to the Cerbo Relay to activate the cooling fan? I guess I was not aware of the option to do this using the Multiplus. Another great video. Can you share a link to the fancy lug crimper
I’m believer in the simplest solutions and that do the job well. Using the k1 relay seems simplistic and does the job well. 95% of the time if that bay is hot, it’s because the inverter is running or charging.
Using the cerbo or some other external sensor has its merits. I think an advantage there is it would run if the solar chargers were producing the most heat. But again, if the inverter gets used at all and that fan kicks on, so will this one.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
As for the crimper, link is below. It took 8 weeks to arrive. No tracking, just showed up one day.
