He is a bit of big head. His genius is he knows what people like. Well he used too anyway. He can take the bits ( lyrics or melody or guitar riff and write a song with these elements in. That’s why in the old days he used to get accused of a lot of plagiarism. But he’s not actually copied any songs he’s just taking the feel of the tune. Clever really. If you don’t get what I mean are try to explain it. When footballs fans sing songs there all different for different teams but the basic tune of them are same. Some are old songs. Some are just melodies. Some are hymns. But you are familiar to them so you sort of know it already and you will be familiar with the song already

@@RoadmanRob8 you’re right, I think of Maroon 5 as a prime example. Their first album was a great indie sound then they sold out. As for going in the opposite direction I can’t think of any. Either a band stays underground and true to one genre or they completely do a 180 from underground to pop. I’m thinking of Stone temple pilots as they went from grunge into some different styles starting with purple. But as grunge was already more underground I’m not sure how you would pin that. Can you think of any bands that went from pop to indie?

There was so much uncharted frontier musically back then, they were basically tripping over awesome chord progressions and riffs that have never been heard commercially before. Nowadays we got slim pickins and if you do find something that you think is original some asshole will still try and sue you, claiming they own the harmonic minor scale or some crazy shit like that.

@@TheJamie6666 as a 71 year old Rock Fan who grew up with the Kinks, Who, Pink Floyd etc, I can honestly say I did NOT compere him to John Lennon. I merely used the era of John Lennon as the point at which I lost a bit of interest in music. Then along came Noel, not Oasis, but Noel.
I agree that he is a fine songwriter. And he has an engaging personality, as well. He has written a number of very good songs that will definitely stand the test of time, regardless of simplicity or complexity. Cast No Shadow, Live Forever, Stand by Me... brilliant stuff. He has learned a great deal from Lennon. I think of Hide Your Love Away or It's Only Love... I honestly feel, however, that had Liam not been the singer, we would not know either of them today. The dynamic between the two is charming and pretty special. Sometimes, I wonder if Noel may have crafted some of these songs while visualizing how they would sound with his brother's delivery. Noel's vocal skill seems to have developed nicely along the way, but some of the songs are better served with Liam's voice. In my opinion.
Noel's great, Oasis were great most the time, but he's biggest mistake is comparing himself to the Beatles. And this comes from q huge huge fan of both, it's just facts speak in favour of the Beatles. Fab four are unreachable, they were ridiculously popular when they first hit the scene, had 3 major songwriters(Oasis really just got one that made a difference = Noel), managed to keep the circus going for 7 years since their first smash hit, and along the way they improved and reshaped our vision of the capabilites pop/rock music. Yet they never went out of fashion, and the music still touches generations worldwide in a scale that is hard to comprehend for an average person. Oasis are great in their own way, they didn't have to be The Beatles 2.0. Still one of the best if not the best melodic rock band emerging from the 90's and damn listenable and sing-alongable.
Can't believe he doesn't like The Doors... or the Monkees. I mean, I know they were a made for TV group, but the Monkees had great songs too. Just May be the One, Pleasant Valley Sunday, Steppin' Stone? C'mon, man.
Randy scouse git is a belter, one even the mighty Beatles would be proud of making. Yeah shame he hates the doors, he might have hated the way Morrison carried on, but no one can deny their catolog of music was brilliant

The Doors are a band I love, but I needed to listen to a few times before I fell in love, perhaps someone took him aside and said "You really should give them a few more listens" then he gets it. I like them so much that I have visited Jims grave at the Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris, early spring is the best time to visit.

How much Oasis have you listened to if you're pulling out Wonderwall as a single example, a lot of Oasis' material is high gain. Definitely maybe is mostly a wall of noise (but in a good way) but D'YKWIM is not a wall of sound, and it's very catchy. But you like what you like and everyone has different tastes🙂
