Great content brother thank you!
Hello from Northern Ireland I love the podcasts, I love growing microgreens for my family and friends, I’m setting up a 6 try rack ( starting small ) goin to start selling soon. Thanks for all the info keep up the good work ✌️🌱
That is awesome!! Congratulations on getting started- it is an amazing journey & so fulfilling to grow nutritious food for others. Best of luck- I look forward to hearing about your progress!
May i ask what you typically charge a restaurant per 1020 tray of microgreens?
We don't charge by the tray. We sell harvested micros to restaurants in the 4oz/8oz increments. Pricing is determined based on many factors including our costs.
Is that the price you would sell it to a grocery store for ? 2.50/oz ? I would imagine it’s way less what they pay..
The pricing on this would be direct to consumer (farmers market, home delivery, etc) Wholesale pricing to a grocer or distributor would be less as they also would need to make a profit.
From what I read right now I think the problem for corn allergy is not with the glucose syrup (at least in Europe, we have guidelines for it having to be filtered) but the starch in corn. Sadly our PLA is actually made out of that I think.. I hope I can find one made out of HFCS
@ittybittymicrofarm ok, I wonder why that allergic reaction would happen with the PLA packages.. All that I find is that maybe straws that are heated might cause reactions, but the PLA should be safe. Do you have more you can say about these experiences? Much love ❤
Excellent thoughts although I'm not certain how the allergy is triggered or which part of the PLA would cause it... I will definitely touch base with the customer that said she's allergic to see if she is able to explain it better. We see her regularly at the markets still.
Where do you get your racks
We've sourced racks from Lowes, Menards, Amazon, & Sam's Club... they're pretty universal! Usually we try to order from Amazon as their price is usually better but sometimes we were in a pinch and just needed to get one quick! (Great problem to have! lol) Here's the one we've gotten on Amazon: amzn.to/4bccT2O
Wow, this is really helpful. I really do appreciate that.
what are your seeding ratio for each microgreens you featured to get those amazing ounces at harvest ?
All our seeding rates are in our videos, they're almost always the same- occasionally a new seed lot will require an adjustment, but 90% of the time, they're very consistent with what we teach in our the How To Grow series. The Sunflowers are different as we've switched to the Tiny Seeded Sunflower from Greener Harvest Seeds- We only need to use 3oz of seed per tray and get 24oz yields! You can get them Here: greenerharvestseeds.com/products/tiny-seeded-organic-black-oil-sunflower-seeds?ref=coaching&variant=45918615863595

Hi! Guessing on the language but gathering the basics: It looks like you'd need at least 2 of these lights per shelf in order to get enough light for consistent growing. 🌱
For reference, per shelf:
We use 1 of these: amzn.to/3hlcf8l
Or
2 of these: amzn.to/3S6JgHp
