I'm so honoured that a work of literature from my country is being studied abroad. I grew up not far from Canterbury and know Thomas a Becket shrine. What a wonderful thing the internet is. Great lecture by the way.
Pedagogy is well done and is marked by the quotations that provides more idea about Geoffrey Chaucer. Your language inspires me to speak in the sense that grammer is correct as well as the confidence that you have. Because i also want to become a teacher in my life and am doing my last year PG. I can recall some of the important points for my compehension exam which is going to be conducted tomorrow. Thanks a lot. Keep it up.
@4:39. It should be : As John Dryden, the great poet of 18th-century England, said of the Canterbury Tales, “Tis sufficient to say … here's God's plenty.”
This is SHOVON from Bangladesh. I'm a student of English Literature. My master's exam is knocking at the door. And we have a subject which is "Chaucer". The prologue to the Canterbury Tales is a topic of this subject. I have been watching some videos about this topic. I've watched this whole video and I'm saying it's the best explanation described in this video. Thank you MaM.. Salute Mam...

"Wife" shouldn't be pronounced like you do in this video. You can check it with English and American teachers teachings the same. It is something most of our teachers mispronounce.

Here is God's plenty is the quote by John Dryden on the characterization of Canterbury tales
Witty and pretty
Good but need story told by the pilgrims
Excellent lecture 👏👏
this is 1340 not 1343 ..
To note:
Dryden said "Here's god's plenty " in Preface to his Fables.
Not Milton
Simple note give me
I was required to memorize the first 10 lines as a freshman in High School - 1963 - still pretty much remember them...I'm 72 now...
Great❤️
there were 30 pilgrims
Totally 31 including Chaucer and Hairry Bailley.
