Knit Frog Hack

  • The fabulous frog pattern by ‎‪@clairegarland8398‬ has a few things I don't love to do: weaving in lots of ends in a small area & i-cords! So after some tweaking, I've figured out a way to reduce the ends I need to sew in AND avoided i-cording!
First I knit the arm/leg flat. So if it says K1, k2tog, and I'm on a purl side, I'll do it in purl instead.
Second, I used one long thread at the end of the first toe to sew closed the toes AND the leg seam. This entire process takes me about 10 min per leg, and I only have to weave in two ends.
What do you think? Will you try this out? Will it cut down on your frustration with weaving in too many ends?

This is great, thank you! I have been procrastinating on finishing the feet on a frog and toad pair for a couple of months now because I really don’t like the weaving in - can’t wait to finish them now!

I have been bothered by so many loose ends when knitting the toes and was trying to figure out a way to avoid it. Your method is perfect and used it today to knit the frog toes with i-cord legs and arms. Thank you, it came out very nice.

Glad it was helpful! I hate weaving in those ends - they make the hand so bulky!

I'll give this a go, thank you!
Have you any secret on how to make these guys stand up? I tried looping the wire in the feet to make a bigger footprint but nothing is working.😮

I recommend some wire, but you will need to put the wire through the whole thing, like a pose-able doll.

If you use a soft wire instead of a pipe cleaner, it should fit in the arm to make it pose-able!

Do you have a video where you don't speed through the toes? Lol I'm a newbie and would love to see this done in slow motion😊

Just slow the video down..... She doesn't skip anything just does it sped up .... Tap on the screen and somewhere you'll see the settings gear symbol..... It'll pop up a list, tap playback speed..... You'll want to click one of the decimals that start with (0.) Example.... 0.25..... that's quarters speed will slow it down enough to see bettwr
