I'm so glad you did this! Thank you very much! I saw the suggestion from the last video and I thought it was a great idea, but I can only imagine how much research and work this involved. I am always on the hunt for a good dupe, because sometimes you can find the same quality in less expensive items that just don't have the big name brand attached.

You definitely have to let your hair dry about 70-80% first for the dryer. The reason it fries people’s hair most of the time is because they start too wet and have to do it for longer. Definitely a heat protectant too!

Kindles pretty much last forever and aside from the light and speed, most kindles haven't changed all that much. Batteries are also super easy to change in the older versions. So if you really are on a budget, don't be scared to get older versions. I used my last one for 10 years! You can get some for $25.

@Girl I think the US might be one of the few if not the only that supports library books on Kindle. I do know that some UK people will get library cards to US libraries so they can borrow and partake in borrowing books. A lot of libraries will allow non-locals to pay for a yearly membership (such as the Brooklyn library). Good to know that Kobo allows you to. Totally agree that people have to take into account the price of content as much as the device itself when thinking of buying e-readers

Honestly, reading on a tablet is very different from reading on an ereader. If you're on a budget it would be better to buy a refurbished Kindle Basic, or wait for them to be discounted (they're always discounted on Prime Day and Black Friday, plus a few random days throughout the year).
Same price as a full-price Kindle Fire but the reading experience is much better!

    • @tart8596

So glad to see this comment; you can’t really compare a tablet with an e-reader as they serve different purposes. I used to read on my phone but noticed my eyes straining a lot so I got an e-reader for e-ink rather than LCD and have noticed a huge difference. I bought the paperwhite 11th gen half off on prime day. If considering a tablet rather than e-reader for reading, might as well just stick to using the kindle app or Libby on a smartphone

Honestly, it took me years to switch from actual used books to a kindle. Because of phones and computers I already spent enough time looking at screens and my eyes hurt. But for travel, and later for minimalism, I am very glad I made the change. BUT the only reason I could manage was the “paper white” screen. I’m so grateful for it. About the revlon dryer - use some leave in conditioner / heat protection - and either blowdry or airdry the Hair to around 75% dry before using the revlon with the parting…
That Way you dont have to blowdry your Hair with the tool, its more like you shape the Hair while drying it fully…
Bonus tip - if you need to refresh your Hair after it has been in a bun, you Can use it to straiten out kinks and ‘swoop’ the ends to give a blowout feel…
And for an even more ‘blowout’ look, use crocodile clips to Roll up each section and clip it to cool Down - and let it Down when everything is cool :)

one big advantage of the tablet over the kindle is that there’s color on the tablet, which is crucial for anyone who wants to read manga or graphic novels. even black and white manga loads weirdly on my kindle. plus there are paper-like screen protectors for tablets to get it closer to the kindle feel. on the tablet you can still use the kindle app and libby but you can also use allll the other apps. i love my kindle but it’s not worth it for everyone

Honestly, velcro rollers do the same without damage. I put mine in dry or damp hair (takes less than 10 min and I have thick hair) and let it sit while I do my makeup and clean the house for like an hour. It makes my hair have insane volume, makes it’s smooth, and so shiny.

Some of these things IMO might just be worth saving up for. You don’t necessarily need Hokas but quality shoes that you’ll wear for a long time might be worth it. Didn’t realize the Kindle is an it girl item, but even as someone who’s never owned one it just seems like extremely solid quality and worth the money. In general, I don’t spend a lot but I’ve realized that it’s nice, if you’re able, to save up and get a few quality items to save yourself the frustration. Obviously if there’s no wiggle room, then the dupes are absolutely the better option.
The Dyson is the one thing that I find ridiculously overpriced but that is the Dyson way. I like Dyson and their innovation but I despise the way influencers have scammed so many women into thinking they need this hair tool.

Also, the top section rolled back, instead of forward, would achieve a more modern blowout, if you wanted that. Twisting the brush downward as you dry will achieve more of a curl.

For shoes, the Skechers vegan lace less sneakers are my ride-or-die-they’re around $60 and I wear them almost everyday (I have 2 pairs in different colors). The minimalist in me can’t be bothered to buy a separate Kindle for my ebooks, personally. My iPad was expensive but I can use it for SO many things so I just read my books on there. As for Apple products, I’m an Apple AirPods girl through and through. 🍎🍏

for the revlon, i do it on hair that’s a bit more dry, usually combo with a cool/low blow dry before, don’t forget heat protectant tho bc it can fry ya😂 also the higher up the shaft of the hair you cool curled, the bigger curl you get, and you can set with rollers for a more similar look to the dyson

I mean two benefits of reading on a regular tablet (or your phone) over a kindle: 1. Not supporting Amazon for all your book buying and 2. Being able to use free library apps. You don't need to purchase every book you read! Support your public library!!!

The kindle app can be downloaded on any smartphone or tablet but the glare will always be a contender because it’s not designed for the matte look and the kiddie app vs kindle have a different swiping mechanism left to right vs up and down with the app

The second version of the Revlon one step is SO much better! The shape/ size is better, it has more settings, and doesn't get so hot. Also, your hair should be a bit more dry to avoid damage/ make it less frizz/ make it stay longer. I love mine so much and it stays all day!

  • @Kpup
    @Kpup 2 роки тому +1

The Revlon one-step ripped so much hair out of my head. Also it gets WAY too hot and there is no way to control it - even if you let your hair mostly dry and use a protectant, it's going to fry your hair if you use it every day.

I’ve heard there are e-readers made to work with your library (Libby/OneDrive).. did you find anything about that with your research? Does your Kindle or the Amazon tablet work with library apps?

  • @mcazi17

That kindle dupe I feel like it’s pretty much the same as if you downloaded the kindle app in your phone. If you actually want to read outside and have a dedicated e-reader, nothing beats the kindle tbh.
