After watching this short I immediately looked for an in-stock unit and got one, this movie means so much to me, it's my favorite movie of all time and the happenstance of a new Nolan movie coming out and just very very recently coming into the watch hobby (only 2-3 months in) I had to get one. 38mm Khaki Murph is now my 2nd watch after my Seiko Speedtimer, I am so inlove with this piece, if anything the 38mm one is more true to the movie watch because it doesn't have the morse code on the seconds hand, and the fact that I love the aesthetic of the watch too (I'm a sucker for clean arabic numeral dials), win win and then some. I love it so much, every time I look at it, butterflies in my stomach.
I have the 42 mm and it’s by far the most fun to wear watch I own. It’s hard to explain but there is some genuine attractiveness in the simplicity of the watch. I just can’t stop looking at it
oh, we recently watched interstellar in my astronomy class to end off the semester!! fantastic movie, and it's so cool to learn how they pulled off the iconic watch bit
I bought the 42mm as soon as it released. The tesseract box it came in is amazing. Interstellar is my second-favorite movie of all time, with Ghostbusters being number one.
"theres no way a watch second hand can move back and forth without special effects" Trust me, there are plenty of ways. They just require effort on the manufacturer's part.
I m gonna buy it tomorrow.. Good value watch, looks like a classic military watch with open case back and a decent leather strap.. Bit similar to my IWC spitfire.. But 4 times cheaper
As a long time watch collector, it was lovely to see Hamilton in this movie. They make great value watches for anyone looking for a good entry level Swiss made watch, although the brand is American.
This is what is happening right now with my 2006 swatch irony. The second hand never moved back and forth but now it’s starting to do it but I can fix it my self but I’m just to lazy to push the button. It’s a chronograph by the way.
Typical case of term confusion. What you’ve just described is a special effect, what you meant was probably a visual effect or more accurately CGI. But if stuff like this is done on set, it’s a special effect
Actually I have an old watch when you try to change time second hand also stars to rotate in same direction as crown 😂😂 it always reminds of this scene 😂
i would have used a bloodpressure cuff and put the face of the watch on the gauge of the bloodpressure cuff..be much cheaper and would move the needle back and forth by squeezing the arm cuff 😁✌
I guess I’m the only one who refuses to watch interstellar because everybody has shoved it down my throat of how great of a movie it is over the years. But it’s a nice watch.
Her dad is manipulating time flow via strings from another dimension of space and using that second hand movement as Morse code to communicate with her from across space
UGH! Metrics. That works out to 1 2/3 inches (42 mm) OR 1 1/2 inches (38 mm). Kudos to those of you who grew up with the metric system; I didn't, & I just can't visualize the sizes unless I convert them to inches (or feet, miles, etc.).
The father who lost in another dimension send morse code to his daughter in earth by using watch second movement The contain of morse code is about formula equation that would solve the gravitional problem when all humanity travel into the space. You should watch "Interstellar", my favorite space sci-fi movie
Who cares about how they did the watch. How the hell did Murphy decipher the problem of Gravity Equation from clock hands going back and forth? You're talking about an unimaginable amount of information being bottlenecked through essentially Morris code.
Chris Nolan just had to make sure he didn’t use CGI for even the tiny bits 🤣🤣
Love him or hate him, that’s dedication.
Because the all the cgi budget gone into making the black hole scene
Hate him?
No one hates nolan mate ...
@@moroishere777I do
Who hates him?🙄

I ordered the 42 mm, love the dial, hands. Fine watch.
Me too
Totally agree 'cause I also have it
42mm is trash
How much it costs, if you don't mind?

I love the Murph. Could be a 1 watch collection with different straps: exotic, tropical, NATO, & factory.
What is a “tropical “ strap?
@@viperz888it’s fruit scented
@@StevenMcPeterbiltlol
An internet search will pull up pictures and descriptions of what a tropical strap is.
I just recently watched Interstellar again, and now that I'm into watches, I instantly recognized this watch, I need a murph now, lol
oh, we recently watched interstellar in my astronomy class to end off the semester!! fantastic movie, and it's so cool to learn how they pulled off the iconic watch bit
I got mine today and this video did inspire me to buy it. Cheers to Teddy 🍻
Ahhh THIS IS SO COOL! I would have never known this! Thanks for this Teddy!
I bought the 42mm as soon as it released. The tesseract box it came in is amazing. Interstellar is my second-favorite movie of all time, with Ghostbusters being number one.
Hallo Teddy, good special effect, so nice to understand how it was done. Thanks and as always, love from Switzerland 🇨🇭
Thanks! I noticed this and always wondered about it.
Nice topic! I like hearing about this kind of equipment to solve problems. Pretty smart.
Thank young , TEDDY for all this mystery explained.
Kickass Teddy.I.too have worked Cincinnati special effects ❤
Just recently got my hamilton murph 38mm, i love this movie, also the watch.
You are a Hit as well Teddy!! Keep it up, and Thank you !!
"theres no way a watch second hand can move back and forth without special effects"
Trust me, there are plenty of ways. They just require effort on the manufacturer's part.
Zenith: "Hold my beer"
I used to move the second hand with a little magnet back in the day
38 mm is amazing. But it should have the morse code on it.
There is no a morse code on the watch in the movie...
I m gonna buy it tomorrow.. Good value watch, looks like a classic military watch with open case back and a decent leather strap.. Bit similar to my IWC spitfire.. But 4 times cheaper
I love that watch, definitely would like to pick it up some day
I would have made a big version just like the One Ring in LOtR where they made a giant version for close-up scenes
As a long time watch collector, it was lovely to see Hamilton in this movie. They make great value watches for anyone looking for a good entry level Swiss made watch, although the brand is American.
Very interesting. Thanks!
That second hand idea is a cool feature

Fascinating, I didn’t realize they put morse code on the second hand.
They should have asked me! The last watch I replaced the hands on did this!! Damn!
I bet they charged a bomb!
😂
didnt know t his was a specific watch, very cool
Would Tissot come out with a smaller 2000 Seastar ?
Love the font
They should use Casio F91w
Typical case of term confusion. What you’ve just described is a special effect, what you meant was probably a visual effect or more accurately CGI. But if stuff like this is done on set, it’s a special effect
It's a beautiful watch. It's all you need.
Imagine ordered one just to have the second hand going back and forth
Friend: What time is it?
Me: Idk man my interstellar watch is lore accurate
Bruv, SEND THE LINK FOR THIS SHIRT. I TRIED EVERYWHERE!!
Love Hamilton watches 👍⌚
More content like this please
Withings watches use motors, it could do this for a long time now.
You also could forward and revers vedio
Actually I have an old watch when you try to change time second hand also stars to rotate in same direction as crown 😂😂 it always reminds of this scene 😂
Great now I want a Murph
Wrist check.. what was Teddy wearing in this? Looks like an integrated sports watch.. but which?
What is your favourite watch ⌚
i would have used a bloodpressure cuff and put the face of the watch on the gauge of the bloodpressure cuff..be much cheaper and would move the needle back and forth by squeezing the arm cuff 😁✌
Is he wearing a Tissot PRX?
Love that movie
So we all just gonna ignore the way Teddy pronounces Eureka? Aite
nice prx
Make me stay Murph…
MURPH!!! Make me stay!
Could have done it using metronome feature watch
I love Hamilton watches.
What watch are u wearing?
It’s a tissiot
Wouldn’t it have been easier to just video record the hand in motion then reverse the footage back and forth with a dvd controller?
Just realized her name was Murph in the movie as well 👀👍🏼
😂 You know it's better to not announce to everyone that you're slow, but since you're slow you probably didn't realize that 🤣😉
@@MiaogisTeas lol 🤡
I bought that watch but to my disappointment the 2nd hand does not move like in the movie 😢
So, in fact, it was a special effect.
Nolan the GOAT
Wow, this whole time I just thought Hamilton had problems with their second hands :D
God I love watches
Super cool…
You can technically get old 17 jewel watches to go backwards if u pull the crown out and turn it backwards
how?
Thats Christopher Nolan for you Guys 🔥
You could just use the crown to wind it back and fourth?
I guess I’m the only one who refuses to watch interstellar because everybody has shoved it down my throat of how great of a movie it is over the years. But it’s a nice watch.
Same.. & the Matrix & the Fifth Element back in the day. Now 3 of my favourite movies
I fell for all the hype and saw the movie... Walked out of the theater afterwards wishing I hadn't bothered.
My faders old Watch do the same thing just by being broken
no way a hand can move like this without special effects? ever heard of the Seiko Metronome?
They could just fast forward then fast reverse the watch against a green screen?
I assumed they were just wiggling it off screen. Turns out they made a custom watch so that they could wiggle it off screen.
The fact I own this watch and didn’t know it had Morse code till now😭
Seems pretty obvious. How else would they do it? Telekinesis?
No it was magic
Add to cart
The morse code reads "Eureka"
I got the watch without knowing it was used in that movie.
Another secret: in the movie, it’s actually binary and not Morse code, but i guess spelling eureka in binary is a little long for the second hand.
What do they use the second hand movement to figure out?
Her dad is manipulating time flow via strings from another dimension of space and using that second hand movement as Morse code to communicate with her from across space
Imagine if the actually watch that people bought could do that.
UGH! Metrics. That works out to 1 2/3 inches (42 mm) OR 1 1/2 inches (38 mm). Kudos to those of you who grew up with the metric system; I didn't, & I just can't visualize the sizes unless I convert them to inches (or feet, miles, etc.).
Morse code for what?
Eureka - Archimedes famously said it upon one of his discoveries. It is Greek for “I have found it!”
The father who lost in another dimension send morse code to his daughter in earth by using watch second movement
The contain of morse code is about formula equation that would solve the gravitional problem when all humanity travel into the space.
You should watch "Interstellar", my favorite space sci-fi movie
They'll sell that watch 20 years later worth box office
Bruhh my 150 ru watch second hand move back and forth 😂 even show correct time
a 40mm would be perfect
I know it would be perfect
I woulda just played the footage in reverse
NPC Brain: I saw a watch in a movie. I liked that movie. I MUST BUY THAT WATCH
Yes. 42 featuring eureka in the second hand. Sure. Penalise people with smaller wrists . As a lot of watchmakers do. It sucks.
"....featuting 'ERIKA' in Morse code....." did you mean EUREKA??? 😂
Because Christopher Nolan doesn’t like graphic effects
👍👍👍
wtf is erreka, Teddy
Lug length that would even put Longines to shame. Lugs for days. Hard pass.
You look like Tom Holland.
So it was special affects 😂
What? Of course you can. This would be simple.
*seconds hand
Lol I had a defective watch that did that, threw it out
Who cares about how they did the watch. How the hell did Murphy decipher the problem of Gravity Equation from clock hands going back and forth? You're talking about an unimaginable amount of information being bottlenecked through essentially Morris code.
