I am sure even with decades of experience in the woods I would learn plenty of great things on a trip like that. The patients and genuine care Jordan (and you) showed these folks will pay dividends down the road for teacher and students on how to just be nice humans.
The edibles and fire starting was great. I've found more often than not, hikers fail in making camp correctly and staying warm. Another challenge is keeping gear dry. Keeping food out of sleeping zone. I'd like to see more safety tips too. Thanks for the awesome videos.
So cool! My son told me about Alone during season 6 and I was thrilled to see Jordan win. I started watching season 8 from the beginning and again my favorite won! It would be impossible for me to actually root against anyone but you and Jordan were both the most deserving, without a doubt. I grew up in Appalachia Virginia (Blue Ridge Mountains, the New River) and moved to Tennessee where I married a real outdoor lover. I'm 65 and now prefer the comforts of home, so I live a more exciting life vicariously through others mainly inUA-camland. Thank you so much💙
This is so good CLAY, the mother bird display is what I have witnessed several times before. one time in particular was a mother timber doodle that jumped up in front of me and gave the display. It took about 3 seconds, then I froze, looked around my feet, then saw a single chic ,alone on the ground, I left the scene immediately. If it weren't for my time in nature, I'd not known what had happened or what to do. This is why many children need to be in nature if possible.
My 7 year old boy watches your channel constantly. He absolutely loves your content. He is a total mountain boy that has a big passion for the outdoors. Growing up in our family he doesn't have much of a choice. Lol. Hunting & outdoor survival is what he loves! If you & your family ever find yourself in the mountains of Southern NM near the Cloudcroft area let us know. We live way out in the middle of nowhere on a Sportsmans Ranch. It is his dream to meet you & your family one day.
I think about inner city kids, how some never really been out in the country or woods, how sad and much needed IMO. I wish there were more options made for these kids to see there is a different way of life. I feel closer to God and it centers you
Great video and a twelve mile hike then a six hour drive, I remember when people had to walk ten miles to get to there teammate in season four and your doing twelve like it’s nothing. Although Vancouver islands terrain is more difficult than that but still it took them like a week and your doing that and a six hour drive, you really are one of the toughest people ever on this show
This is absolutely fantastic!! It really is unfortunate that so many people don’t get the opportunity to spend time in the wilderness. Or maybe don’t want to for that matter. I grew up in the country and spent my childhood roaming the woods. I’ve still got so much to learn though.
Ducimus Jordan n Clay. Latin for We Lead. Leadership not some lead weight (ala toxic heavy metal) And Primary Directive of all leaders is to teach. Well done 'youse'. Love your youtube channels. I never stop learning and both of your channels are educational even for this ol' Canadian Infantry Soldier.
Honestly think all of the students should hike in. When I was hiking a fourteener in Colorado and was passed by people riding horses, I just thought,”Wow I would be embarrassed to pass a hiker on a horse!”
what a beautiful place! I'd almost be willing to put up with the cold just to live there. I always thought of Montana and Idaho as flat, rather barren and treeless prairie land.
Half hour drive west of Billings, its 100% mountains. Most people think of Colorado as "Rocky Mountains" but TBH you can drive for four hours across semi-arid plains, and never see the mountains. (North-South along the Eastern edge).
Nice Review, reminds me of being a teen. This type experience would be good for every high schooler to do. Some basics, toss in some firearms, sling shots and bows too. Good Times.
@@clayhayeshunter That is a nasty tasting duck, but I bet you would have enjoyed it. A nice fat greenhead would have ben a hell-of-a-meal. I didn't get the anchor setup on gill net. Was it on a float? not sure. That direction would have been pretty good on Danger Rock, maybe. The anchor not sure, have to think about it.
Just an added, helpful comment to those starting with ferro rods … SCRAPE that black coating from the rod itself until you see the actual metal. That coating is a protective & it stops you from getting proper ignition first go. The techniques he’s showing is DEAD ON. But the ferro rod needs to be stripped of that black coating otherwise you’re expending valuable energy trying to get your tinder bundle started.
And if you use the file from the leatherman as your striker you can scrape an entire forest fire off the Ferro rod with very little effort. It’s almost like cheating

It’s not so hard to understand. Put me in the middle of LA and I’d be as lost as someone from there would be in the woods🤷♂️. Most folks just don’t have access to the woods, or the inclination to learn.
@@clayhayeshunter You are correct Sir, I would be just as lost as you! Thank the good lord we live in places away from the concrete jungles and CUDOS to the ones with the will to learn!
