Amazing how much the value of the watch went up in a week. I knew then and there I would never do business with them.

This must be a new practice. Last year I sent a Tudor, they honored the full offer price. I had the same experience on a new Tag Heuer I sent them recently. Sent it in, I call them instead of email, it gets quicker results. They sent the final offer minus $180 for refurbishment. I called and asked them about it, they split it in half. FYI Watchfinder was acquired by Richemont Group a couple years ago.

Hi Tony, Derek from the UK. Ive used watchfinder to sell a watch before. Its a sales tactic to ask for a "service fee" or "refurbishment fee". When they quote you, always ask for another couple of hundred £. They will give you it, knowing full well that they will deduct it for a "polish" or whatever. It is shady and most people probably don't know whats going on. Its just a sales tactic to squeeze more money out of you. Also, please don't buy another Tudor for retail 😂 those things tank like stones!
Hi Tony! It’s disgraceful how certain businesses have to scam or try scamming a customer. Unfortunately the watch grey market there’s many dishonest people. All your subscribers know you’re a decent, honorable person. Shame on Watchfinder ripping you off for an extra $180. Tony , thanks for warning us from businesses like Watchfinder’s disgraceful practices.
That’s messed up and trust me i know ive been around the block a few times with watches in my life and these company’s thats how they do it, you couldn’t of brought it and never ever wore it and theyll still find a reason to low ball u, then you’ll turn around and find it on their website listed for retail and marked as never worn,
Its like when a new car under warranty burns too much oil and they say its normal and refuse to acknowledge the problem. Then you trade the car in at the same dealer and they screw you because they say oil burning is the problem.
...I know the feeling....i always when selling pieces video my timepiece at the boutique or prior to packaging and including package...it's a bit OTT but stops the merde occurring...future proof !...WF however do have good stock + a 2 year warranty...
I’ve heard consistently that resellers offer much better service when you are buying, ie giving them money, than when you are selling, ie they’re giving you money.
Business practices & customers service just suck these days. I dove into collecting a yr ago, no knowledge just picking up things that looked good. Now I have some meaningless pieces that I don't wear too.Ill give them out for gifts,my friends would love a 500$-1000$ watch. Good to see u submerging yourself in work. It's what I do when stress is all around. Put on some headphones & listen to somerock n roll brother..
Their quote should be net of any and all costs they consider necessary in order for that watch to be marketable. Socking you with a $180 servicing/cleaning/whatever fee after you have already accepted their offer and sent them the watch isn't just shady - it's unmitigated bullshit.
Thanks for the heads up Tony. Another company that did not impress me with a fair offer was Watchbox. Not certain but believe they changed their name to The 1916 Company. Urgh. All the best.
I got a Daytona from them but they ripped me off so hard with my trade in. They quoted me one price and when I sent it in (a week) they changed the price drastically. Never again will I sell to them
Tried to sell them a 36mm TT Wimbledon before Christmas they really Low Balled me, glad I decided to use someone else to sell my Timepiece after watching your Video 😲

I heard the same thing twice now, their business model and practises are going to really damage their turnover. I certainly won't be using them, nor will I be recomending their services.
Yeah I dealt with watchmaster before the went down . Same shady shit you will have fees that they don’t disclose . Once they have your watch they have you. It’s always very easy to buy watches but not easy or enjoyable to sell .. it’s alway inconvenient and apart from a few brands you will take a huge hit usually 40 percent or so . Towards the end of my collecting journey I was much more hesitant about buying because I knew I hated the selling process and I would loss a whole lot of cash . Some guys buy and sell on the lower end that’s not so bad as you may only be spilling 100 bucks or so . However when it’s 1000s we really should think before we buy.
That's exactly what they do. Add a fee to everyone and every watch. Sold them a 124060 Sub and a Seamaster. Pulled the same move on both. I'm sure everyone has the same thoughts as you and I did..."Well, it's already there, what am I going to do, have them ship it back?" Now, in all fairness, they gave me the best offers on those watches by a wide margin as well.
What was the problem with the Royal? To me that date is too small for that dial and just kills the symmetry of the dial. I really wanted to like the Royal too
Yes, they nickel and dimed you on the refurbishment fee and was not upfront about any discounts you qualified for. That was not cool. They were also not very responsive and that makes them look unprofessional. However, in their defense, even if a watch was worn once, under a magnifying glass, you may see small hairs, smears of a biological nature or other skin matter in the crevices of the watch case or band. These will have to be cleaned before resale. No reputable watch reseller is going to resell a "new" watch without doing some sort of cleaning beforehand.
I bought the Zenith Defy Skeleton in black due to your review. I have been really enjoying it! It is a perfect watch for me along side the Rolex Explorer 40 mm. Thanks for all you do!

Thanks for your comments. 🤙🤙
You forgot to mention they at least sent you a free Watchfinder t-shirt. 😅
No they didn’t.
Thanks man. It sucks that companies have dishonest business practices.
That’s messed up and trust me i know ive been around the block a few times with watches in my life and these company’s thats how they do it, you couldn’t of brought it and never ever wore it and theyll still find a reason to low ball u, then you’ll turn around and find it on their website listed for retail and marked as never worn,
Yep. Nailed it.
Good to know. It's important to let people know about bad experiences that way we know who not to do business with.
🤙🤙
If they offer 1500 they should pay it! What service fee? Polish? What polish? They are scammers
The UK online store has always been good with/to me. Never had any of these issues thankfully
That Zenith Pilot is badass! Ive always preferred Zenith over some other pretty popular luxury brands. Id like to get an el Primero one day
Its like when a new car under warranty burns too much oil and they say its normal and refuse to acknowledge the problem. Then you trade the car in at the same dealer and they screw you because they say oil burning is the problem.
Wow it’s amazing how a business can be so unscrupulous and get away with it “ daylight robbery” imho 🤬
Yup
2:45 fantastic Andrew Morgan impression 😂😂😂
🤙🤙
You handled that a lot better than most people have. Nice job staying chill!
Thanks.
...I know the feeling....i always when selling pieces video my timepiece at the boutique or prior to packaging and including package...it's a bit OTT but stops the merde occurring...future proof !...WF however do have good stock + a 2 year warranty...
I’ve heard consistently that resellers offer much better service when you are buying, ie giving them money, than when you are selling, ie they’re giving you money.
🤙🤙
Good to know! Dont see myself making business with this guys anytime soon. thanks.
Nice, will never do any business with them! Thank you!
Seems like an isolated case unfortunately. I know several friends who've had far more positive dealings with them over many years.
Thanks man. Appreciate your comment.
Wow! I thought they were more professional than this.
He man you're a nice guy and you don't deserve that... no one deserves this.I think such companies are criminal organizations.
I travelled from Argentina to london and went to Watchfinder & Co, i knew more abour watches than the snobish pos that treated us like peasants.
Their quote should be net of any and all costs they consider necessary in order for that watch to be marketable. Socking you with a $180 servicing/cleaning/whatever fee after you have already accepted their offer and sent them the watch isn't just shady - it's unmitigated bullshit.
🤙🤙
What a lousy experience. Thanks for letting us know about this company.
🤙🤙
Thanks for the heads up Tony. Another company that did not impress me with a fair offer was Watchbox. Not certain but believe they changed their name to The 1916 Company. Urgh. All the best.
Yep. You are correct.
I got a Daytona from them but they ripped me off so hard with my trade in. They quoted me one price and when I sent it in (a week) they changed the price drastically. Never again will I sell to them
🤙🤙
Tried to sell them a 36mm TT Wimbledon before Christmas they really Low Balled me, glad I decided to use someone else to sell my Timepiece after watching your Video 😲
🤙🤙
So let me get this clear: they tried a dirty tactic - as is the norm in the current world we live in - and you didn't push back and now you're upset?
WF 🇬🇧 deduct a charge for inspecting the watch.
🤙🤙
Thanks, I was considering WF to sell my Rolex... NOT ANYMORE
Got your name wrong, jerked you around for a month for what should take 15 minutes and created a fake fee, noted on this business, thanks.
These horrendous business practices are all over YT. This is how you destroy your business.
That’s messed up, Tom!😉
If you, Breni & Oisin say NO to WatchFinder then it’s a NO for me too.
Thanks to your insights, I was able to buy my first Rolex from my AD; in 30 days with no spend history either!
So thanks again, Tony and all the best for a prosperous 2025. 🤘🏻
Hey man! Congrats on your Rolex!
I heard the same thing twice now, their business model and practises are going to really damage their turnover. I certainly won't be using them, nor will I be recomending their services.
🤙🤙
And if you don't accept the offer the fee is void, sounds like a scam!
🤙🤙
This is the second person i am watching complaining about watchfinder
So that's how Watchfinder & Co. are conducting business? 🤪 and 🤮💩👎 to them. It just goes to show that the bigger they are the less they care ...
🤙🤙
Whoa... man that's bad business all around. Smh. Sorry you went through that!
🤙🤙
Must be a really luxurious polish 😀
😂
😂😂🤙🤙
Used car salesman tactics. This is why I only sell to people and not to shops
What was the problem with the Royal? To me that date is too small for that dial and just kills the symmetry of the dial. I really wanted to like the Royal too
The Royal is a nice watch. I think I just decided I didn’t need another blue dial.
Thank you man! That’s awesome! Enjoy your watches.
