Oscar O. No. It is simply a threat. An immediate threat would be after he made the move. Prior to that, the threat isn't immediate as it is not happening now. Technically speaking
@agadmator small correction about 26. Qh5 by Gupta (4:15) "... no immediate threat of Q h7..." I think you may have overlooked the not-so-subtle threat of Nf7 of course picks up the queen (and also also mates in a couple moves after that). Re7 is forced/only move to defend f7 (not h7 per se). 2nd rank (and e6 especially) was ruined after f6. What was Chucky thinking?

4:18 The point of Qh5 is the immediate Nf7 threat it presents. Re7 is the only real defense against this (it is the only proper defense I could find, at least), and I believe the Re1 followup comes with the threat of Rxe6.
I hope alfa zero would have saved Ivanchuk earlier in the game. His position was blown away in a brilliant manner, this GM from India deserves his title.
Can someone help me i think i am missing something. Why go for the fancy rook to g8 move with check at 5:25 when he could capture rook to d5 with queen pinning the other rook anyway threatening check mate with g8 afterwards.
4:23 The threat which was missed is Nf7+ forcing black to give up his queen for the knight... maybe mention more the computer annotations and present them as yours like you usually do? :)
after rock captures move queen captures on d5 and then if the rock captures on e1 the checking king to h2 and then black has the only option to lose the queen or the checkmate with rock on g8?
There was an even better move (5:48). Qc3, even if he tries to block it with the Bishop, the queen can simply take the bishop with a checkmate, since the rook on G3 is there.
Maroun Hannoush according to stockfish, it's not best. But after Qc3 Rd5(any rook) f4! you win the rook, and it is not so simple to find winning exchange back tactics with Bc5! and after Kh1 tricky Bd4! unpinning.
why not Qc3+ at 5:30? he can block it with the rook on e file but would loose the queen or white can simply take the rook with Qf6+ and the only move is Bg7 and then Q*g7 checkmate.. Am i missing something here
Why did Ivanchuk trade off so many pieces early on. It seems like chuck plays better in more complicated positions rather than a simplified ending game
Regarding the key move, I was expecting Qxd5, threatening Qg8 checkmate. The rook on e6 is not pinned since the black king is still on h8, but the rook can't still move to g5 to defend against Qg8. Because if it moves, I will take black's queen with Rxe8. And, if black moves the bishop, I will simply take the rook on d6 as it is already attacked twice. Missing anything here? Perhaps, Qxd5 can be handled with Rxe1+! I'm not sure.
6:25 It seems to me that black has a better option - which still leaves him in a poor position but not defeated. After Qxd5, black can play Qc6, going for an exchange of queens. Then Rxe6 doesn't work. What white can do is play Qxe6, answered by Qxe6 and then Rxe6. Black has a rook vs a bishop but is still in the game. What am I missing?
You should check out magnus carlsens game in round 3 of the chess pro league against IM Kristian Holm.. MC opened a3 and h4 and missed a mate in two in the same game!
Maybe check out the match of Le Quang Liem (The Vietnamese GM) vs Esipenko? It was a pretty interesting match, as Esipenko was gradually outbested by Liem.
6:13 I dare anyone to put the board in this position and try and beat Stockfish level 8 from there. It plays Qc6, I win the rook, queens are exchanged, Bxa3, then he proceeds to push the protected passed pawns down the board and there's NOTHING you can do to stop it. Black is winning in this position.
That was very interesting, Antonio. Thank could. At 5.34 White could have played Qc3, couldn't he, and it would have been checkmate within a couple of moves?
Ivanchuk may have taken AlphaZero's teachings on the Queen's Indian into account considering that he played d5 as black well before white was prepared to play d5
What about queen to c6? I believe this wouldve been a move that if played couldve have saved ivanchuk the game. New to chess so feel free to correct me
8;18 actually it's not a quick forced mate because Black still has Qg7, and there is nothing better for White than trading the Queen for the Rook. Of course, after Rxg7, Bxg7 is a blunder because of Qc8+ Bf8 Qxf8#, but after Kxg7 there is no way to force the mate with the Queen alone, so White needs to promote a pawn after that in order to finish the game.
Chess beginner here: after Gupta takes the rook on d5, couldn't Ivanchuk play Qf7? He'll lose the rook on e6, but then he is 'just' down an exchange, which sounds better than losing your queen or being checkmated!
Even a bad day can become great with an Ivanchuk game.

I expected that Alpha Zero would play a more important role in the story behind what you analyzed.
And in this episode we will show that the letter Alpha and the number Zero placed adjectent result in Alpha Zero.
Playing Indian defence against Indian GM... Hmm, brave:)
Robi_CK tis not the season for cultural appropriation?
here you can call it defence from indians
Cry about it
I paused at 5:44, and i couldnt concentrate at all with the way you were looking at me so expectant.
4:18 actually there was a big threat: Knight f7 forcing ivanchuk to give up his queen
You're right, and it is followed by a forced checkmate.
Only if ivanchuk didn't play Re7
+Tsnips-Eg'N Rih
It's just an immediate threat that agadmator failed to notice which forced Re7. (agadmator was mentioning possible future Qxh7.)
majd hassan ur a dumbass
That is brilliant! Good eye
4:14 Isn't Nf7+ winning the queen an immediate threat?
Oscar O. No. It is simply a threat. An immediate threat would be after he made the move. Prior to that, the threat isn't immediate as it is not happening now. Technically speaking
Yes, that's why it was countered by the rook. Once it was defended, the exchange would come out in black's favor.
Black to move
Yeah, I saw that too. It was an immediate threat, whereas eying the h7 pawn is merely pressure against that square.
the fuck you talking about, its fucking immediate threat as if you didn't do anything about it, it will happen next move
Gupta with a brilliant move to freeze the R...good game , superb commentary. Thanks.
I saw the check, great move.
yeah me too, I feel always kinda proud if I see it xD

6:38 Black king got so nervous after agadmator mentioned the black queen being captured, he farted and went red a couple of times.
Even though Gupta played well, his dad would've told him he didn't play like Sharma-ji ka beta
For a split second after reading the title I was expecting Ivanchuck to play and win against Alpha Zero.
Vassily Ivanchuk, more like Va-silly Ivanchuk. Ivanchuk for life.
nice
#clubchucky
No Vasiline Ivanchuk
Why won't Q c3 work @5:33..?? Rook has to block as if bishop blocks then it's mate, then one pair of rooks go off. Then rook g3 to e3
What I was thinking yeah
haha it became so silence about "alpha zero", its incredible xD
at 5:51 Queen to C3 with check on King is the best move, after bishop blocks check ( only move for black), you capture with queen and its check-mate
lol and the other rook cant take your queen why?
5:49 Wouldn't Queen to c3 be checkmate in two? Ivanchuk has to block with the bishop, Gupta captures it - and then it is checkmate? What am I missing?
i thought the same and its working
but can be block by rook to e5
Ivanchuk makes chess fun yo
4:18 The point of Qh5 is the immediate Nf7 threat it presents. Re7 is the only real defense against this (it is the only proper defense I could find, at least), and I believe the Re1 followup comes with the threat of Rxe6.

at 4:30, isn't Re7 defending against Nf7! which forces the exchange of the knight for the queen?
after rock captures move queen captures on d5 and then if the rock captures on e1 the checking king to h2 and then black has the only option to lose the queen or the checkmate with rock on g8?
There was an even better move (5:48). Qc3, even if he tries to block it with the Bishop, the queen can simply take the bishop with a checkmate, since the rook on G3 is there.

why not Qc3+ at 5:30? he can block it with the rook on e file but would loose the queen or white can simply take the rook with Qf6+ and the only move is Bg7 and then Q*g7 checkmate.. Am i missing something here
Great win by Indian GM Abhijeet Gupta ji🙏👍
Tanx for the English, Gupta in the End, g8 and we respect the Queen.
Why did Ivanchuk trade off so many pieces early on. It seems like chuck plays better in more complicated positions rather than a simplified ending game
Possibly adjusting for his opponents play style. That would be my guess anyway.
What a winning rook sacrifice by Gupta, that was great
@agadmator Is the fart noise at 06:40 a new sound effect for blunders... or is it something more organic???
Michael Stern he should add sound effects for blunders and exclams
It's the sound you get from the site when attempting an illegal move.

Tehom Being down 2 pawns in an endgame between 2 GMs is basically a loss.
at 4:30 Abhijeet is also threatening Nf7+ winning the queen and therefore Re7 defends f7 twice
5:30 isn't Qc3 checkmate in two (or 5 if he plays the rooks up)!?
@5:50 why not QC3
Re4 would defend it i think
Wow it usually takes a lot to beat Ivanchuk. He is a legend but he made it easier for Abhijeet by making a mistake
Abhijeet played Awesome!!!
When will you start documenting the many great games of the world famous Mechanical Turk?
On 7:12, why Chucky played Qb5 and not Qf7?
There is a big threat at 4:15 : Nf7+ Qxf7 Qxf7 threatening Qg8#(and winning the Queen ofc lol)
hey at 4:13 isn't queen to b5 winning coz if u accept the sacrifice then Nf7#
Yes but he obviously won't take the Queen, he'll play Re7 and white will have lost time in his attack while black just added a rook to the defense
Is it the same Gupta from the outsourced series?
Are you going to make anymore videos with stockfish plaing Alpha Zero?
2:36 never play f6
Terrible!!
I was pausing the video to look for this comment. xD

Is this a chess meme? I want to know it!
Even though Barnes wrecked Morphy in a game playing f6
Most interesting games come from none other than Mikhail Tal. :-) We do have a slight disagreement Agadmator.
a very nice game, really appreciate your videos. Greetings from Brazil!
4:32 the professional commentator missed the simple threats Nf7+ winning black's queen, which is why Rf7 was played....
Nice.
I saw Qc3+, Re5, Rxe5, Rxe5 and f4. Does this work?? @5:40

That was very interesting, Antonio. Thank could. At 5.34 White could have played Qc3, couldn't he, and it would have been checkmate within a couple of moves?
Nasty pin on those rooks. Black should've known better than to leave his king exposed without pawn cover.
Abhijit rocks "jit" word means winner. Thanks for reminding chess was invented in India
Can you Show a Richard Rapport Game?
Was Q c7 check not a bad idea too? Seemed pretty crushing to me.
4:15 you do not see the threat agadmator?????
Χρήστος Γιαννούλας lol Nf7+ Qxf7 Qxf7 maybe?
Guillaume Huet lol
Le Shryder obviously you are right
Guillaume Huet learn how to play
Nf7+ quite obvious actually.
26 Qh5 idea is if he plays something like Bd7 then Nf7# so it has to protect f7 square from the Knight.
I saw the winning move, but that's because I'm bad and always think about sacrificing pieces over winning.
@6:21 Why not move the Queen to defend at f7 instead of the King?
Does Qc3+ not work just as well? Obviously, Black has to block with the rook, but then f4 wins.
3:03 I don't understand why he retreated the bishop first and then played f6, instead of immediately pushing the pawn one move earlier
my first time to actually find the correct move to deliver the finishing blow :D
what if ivan chuck plays queen e7 at 7:08? I’m no expert but it looked like a good move
I loved it, thanks
What chess program are you using to display on your channel?
Ivanchuk may have taken AlphaZero's teachings on the Queen's Indian into account considering that he played d5 as black well before white was prepared to play d5
What about queen to c6? I believe this wouldve been a move that if played couldve have saved ivanchuk the game. New to chess so feel free to correct me
which interface are u using for this chessboard ?
Hello Agadmator, 5:44 I think after 1... Rxe6 2.Qc3+ Rde5 3. Rxe5 Rxe5 4.f4 Bg7 5. fxe5 Bxe5 6. Re3 Maybe is that wrong Greet D4Spieler
Was Rg8 really necessary to pin the rook on e6? Since after the immediate queen takes d5 the rook on e6 is pinned nonetheless because of queen g8?
8;18 actually it's not a quick forced mate because Black still has Qg7, and there is nothing better for White than trading the Queen for the Rook. Of course, after Rxg7, Bxg7 is a blunder because of Qc8+ Bf8 Qxf8#, but after Kxg7 there is no way to force the mate with the Queen alone, so White needs to promote a pawn after that in order to finish the game.
Yay, i solved the position without pausing the video. I consider that a win :)
Chess beginner here: after Gupta takes the rook on d5, couldn't Ivanchuk play Qf7? He'll lose the rook on e6, but then he is 'just' down an exchange, which sounds better than losing your queen or being checkmated!
4:28 The threat is Nf7, winning the Queen
I dont understand the title... can some one elaborate please?
Alphazero destroyed Stockfish's Queens Indian over and over yet Ivanchuk still uses it.
Infinity Salinity Oh, I see.
Infinity Salinity why?
@@htoodoh5770 My guess is he doesn't believe opponent can play like Alphazero.
@@Tensooni ok
please somebody tell me what happened to that signed board contest of Tata steel chess 2018. I was not able to find anything related to result.
you pronounce Indian names very accurate. :D I noticed in many of your videos. :D
All though I am an Indian, I didn't know India has this GM. But the point is when you beat ivanchuck like that it does make for nice viewing
Hey can you do a video on bobby fischer 1992 match 1?
3:53 he could have moved Knight to d6 thrrathening the queen and rook that would have changed the whole outcome
ne e bitno koj tome no, the bishop at f8 stops this
I saw Qc3 which is great and most likely winning, but missed the Rg8 killah move
Cover all the Ivanchuk games you like if anyone has a problem with it they can go watch kingscrusher.
i think queen to c3 was an instant checkmate gupta made a mistake
at 5:50
Queen c3 it is winning immediatly i think.
When you said to pause it, why not queen to c3? check mate!
Black rook can simply block at E5, no mate this way.
Ivanchuk and alpha zero in the same title?? No further invitations needed😁
