The town is being run by bad guys and the Cartwrights decide it has to stop. When a local merchant is gunned down for refusing to pay protection, Farmer Perkins is tried and sentenced to hang. Ben is taken hostage by Perkins' employer, with threats to hang Ben if Farmer is not released.
Set in Nevada in the 1860's, Bonanza chronicled the adventures of the Cartwright family who owned a large ranch called The Ponderosa. Ben Cartwright and his three sons, Adam, Hoss, and Joe fought for what was just and decent in a time where lawlessness was common.
The widowed patriarch Ben Cartwright had three sons, each by a different wife: the oldest was the urbane architect Adam Cartwright, who built the ranch house. The second was the warm and lovable giant Eric, better known by his nickname "Hoss." And the youngest was the hotheaded and impetuous Joseph or "Little Joe." They all lived and worked on The Ponderosa. Nearby Virginia City helped populate the episodes with guest starring characters from all over America.
Broadcast between September 1959 and January 1973. Filmed by the National Broadcasting Company at Paramount Studios.

I've been watching Bonanza for a long long time. We got our 1st tv in 1963, so it was close to there. Any episode is great to see again. What boggles my mind is, what kind of people(102 of them) click thumbs down? Don't tell me, it's folks against guns that think guns kill. Rofl

Its terrible that in today's world there are really people like this. People that have no conscience to their terrible ways. Who believe that its ok just to kill an innocent person. And others who support it. I only wish that there was swift justice like displayed here. Maybe those who choose to take a life would think twice.

fklifter1 yes little Joe moved to Wisconsin and married a gal named Caroline. They moved around and had four daughters:Mary,Laura,Carrie, and Grace. He never made it back to the Ponderosa lol

Surprised they didn’t have Adam post a dead or alive warrant in town for mine boss before the hangin. That would have been a much better scene when he saw it. And why didn’t they send for the territorial marshal? That too would have added some to the intimidation factor for the boss. Usually, the writers are spot on with Adam’s tuff guy role, but not this time it seems.
Would take days or weeks for the Territorial Marshal to show up

The movie is good but the quality of the film 🎞 and the color is terrible. Just now the whole screen looked as if the film had been crumpled and crushed before it had been run through the projector. Just a lot of black and clear 🎞 sparkles on the screen 📺. 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
