    I was given a problem like this, but they want us to calculate without removing any fluid from the bag

      That seems strange, but if I were presented with this, I would do a proportion for what it would be with. However, best practice is to remove the volume you're adding, it's a negligible loss

      Hello! Whenever we are adding dextrose to IVF, we have to first remove the amount that we are going to be adding.
      If you think about it, if we just added 50-100mL of dextrose, then there would be 1,050-1,100mL in the bag, not 1L, so it throws the ratio off. So, before we add it, we first remove that amount to keep the total volume the same :)
