    Undoubtedly one of the best homemade Saunas I've seen on UA-cam.
    The ventilation of the Sauna is good, it is often forgotten,
    whereas it is essential for the use but also for the durability of the Sauna.

      I don't think there is enough ventilation. There should be one vent that brings air to the bottom of the stove and another to the top. There must also be a valve under the benches. Air must circulate through the sauna. Otherwise, there is not enough oxygen to take proper baths and longer sauna sessions are impossible. A poorly ventilated sauna is tiring, not refreshing. Greetings from Finland!

      @@HannuPulkkinen49 correct! I had 2 x 3 inch on the bottom on my door and i made another 2 . I have one 4 inch exhaust on top on the opposite side. I also installed a small fan on the wall inside next to my door to pool the air from the bottom and direct it to the top to make it circulate through the sauna! Sorry for late reply!

    Excellent and very impressive for home built sauna. Great job building the door yourself as well. Excellent video work too.

    Sauna looks pretty and well-built, good job. Are you satisfied with going with 7'x7'? I don't really want to go any smaller than that, but I feel like you kind of have to commit to wood if you go much bigger because of how powerful an electric stove you'd need to power anything above 7'x7'.

      Just my two cents, I'm not the author, but heater is a Huum wood-burning unit. Depending on size, they start at about $1500.

    • @022280607
      @022280607  Рік тому +1

      It is Huum Hive wood 13. The whole project cost is around $10000 Canadian.

    Just curious if you insulated your floors? I've seen mixed opinions on this topic. From what I understand if you don't it allows for additional ventilation and allows water/condensation out.

    • @022280607
      @022280607  4 місяці тому

      Correct! I didn’t insulate it, only cedar planks installed on framing and nothing else. I also put my floor/sauna on heavy duty plastic 2x4 supports (home depot) and my floor framing is about 2-3 inches elevated from the ground.

    How long did this take to build? After one year of ownership, how is it holding up? Highest temperature reached? What would you different? How long does it take to heat up?
    Asking all this because i am planning to build 8x8 this summer. In that exact style
    Thanks

    • @022280607
      @022280607  5 місяців тому

      I built it on weekends and after work. It took me 4 months! Highest temperature reached was 120 celsius when i first time started stove to burn all oils from it . I do sauna at 70-90 celsius to stay and enjoy longer. What i did different i made another 2 x 3 inch holes in my door on the bottom with small sliding door to be able to close it when need it for extra intake oxygen. If you don’t to plan take it apart I recommend getting wood stove with outside feed so that the stove doesn’t pool oxygen from your sauna room instead it takes it from outside. I also installed a small fan on the bottom on wall inside the sauna to pick up aer from the bottom and force it up for extra circulation. It take about an hour to heat up in any weather.

    What is the interior height and difference in height of the walls with sloped roof? How wide is your door? Do you think you might need a floor drain? I have read that home use saunas usually dont need floor drain. thanks

    • @022280607
      @022280607  4 місяці тому

      79.5 inch and 90 inch. Door is 28 inch wide. You need floor drain if you plan to clean/wash your walls.

      @022280607  Рік тому +3

      I got it to 120 celsius when i first started, to burn all the oils heater was coated for storage. But i usually heat it between 70-90. It all depends how much wood you put inside.

      There are barrel saunas for sale that are pretty good, i rented couple times last winter. You can buy DIY barrel kit or have professional installed from where you will be purchasing it. You can choose electric or wood burning stove. Hopefully that helps.
