Thank you for this opportunity to revisit a place very near to me. Though I’ve been in California for twenty years now, Pittsburgh/Sq. Hill are in my DNA.
Henry Clay Frick's home was in Point Breeze not Sq. Hill. Clayton still stands and is open to public tours. Many of the wealthy had mansions in Point Breeze, just north and east of Sq. Hill.
Wow now i know the history of my city great to hear how its got it's name i like this kind of stuff plus to see we in Pittsburgh still has places like thia around very sorry to hear of the crimes really some thing how here in 2022 as bad as its gotten in the world we can still find some peace at home watching history of different cities thanks
I use to work for a moving company in Pittsburgh and we moved a very nice old lady up there and she's said she was the little girl for "The Walton's"..
The picture on the thumbnail and at 10:48 is of central Oakland (when the Cicero's owned a lot of property there), not Squirrel Hill. (Note the Strand Bowling Alley.) As a ;lifelong (76 year) Pittsburgh resident, I am always irritated by narrators who don't know how to pronounce "Carnegie.." The people of Dunfirmline, Scotland would emphasize the second syllable (as do true Pittsburghers), not the first syllable (as do Irish-influenced New Yorkers).
Very interesting history of this great neighborhood. Unfortunately, a couple of quick political points were added in a very inappropriate manner. Very disappointing.
The picture of President Trump with the words "hate" and "extremism" enblazened next to him was a low blow. President Trump was/is a supporter of the Jewish community and Israel.
I remember going through the Squirrel Hill tunnel and a "head shop" from the early 70's called "Heads Together".
Great record store and other stuff
Do u remember that that head shop also sold water beds?

I lived with and worked for a lovely Jewish family in Squirrel Hill on Woodland Rd in the early eighties...very fond memories❤

Nice video. Thanks for making and sharing.👍
i have been living in squirrel hill for 3 years now. really love this area.
Its a beautiful spot. Incredibly safe and friendly. I dropped some money over on Murray one time and someone ran up the street to give it back to me.
how could anyone not? It was literally Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. My dad's cousin lived there too.

Town Tours will soon be popular!!!
Not if they keep pushing their political views on people!
experimentation is no foreign belief for Town Tours!
that just went in cloud number 7 🎧🥉
Hmmm, interesting matter for me 😃
pure coincidence alone got me to it 🕹

oh yeah, good old Pittsburgh.
Skirmishes? I wouldn't have chosen that word. I grew up in Squirrel Hill.
Update: The synagogue shooter has been sentenced to death

wanted to shrug off that one originally but couldn't hold off at all. 👍
I believe it's needless to state that we need more facts about cities‼🐰
THEY. FORGOT TO. MENTION....... OSCOUR LAVANT, GENE KELLY, Gene TYRNAUER
Holy cow 12:50 murder case! I knew Steve Tilch!!! Went to high school with him. he also killed my good friend Kevin Ohm in a car wreck!!!
Where can you find kosher food?
Squirrel Hill is the closest thing to Brooklyn that Pittsburgh has.
there is loads of spice in it!

Points that were incorrect.
14:12 You just couldn't help yourself, could you?

Ok at best. Choppy, deficient, not altogether accurate
I love Pittsburgh, despite this hehehe

Diaper Don only cares about himself. Try reading more.
@@carlkelly7885 Depends on what you read. You're obviously deep into the woke agenda with an unhealthy dose of TDS.
That's comical and sad if you believe such nonsense.
What wrong with you. This is not the whole story.
Racist squirrel hill.
How do? Please explain thanks!!
