I'm a mechanic in New Zealand. We had an audi v6 car that bust the high pressure line from the power steering pump to the steering rack. We had a hose made up by the local hose doctor and fitted it and it whined really badly. The customer said it hadn't been whining before. the only thing we had changed was the hose. We found the old hose and compared them the old hose had a zig-zag strip the full length of the hose . Its there to change the harmonics of the oil in the and absorbs the whining noise.
John, about your noise. I am no equipment expert, but I do know hydraulics. You taken the cutter off line so thats not the noise. It sounds like a bad bearing in your hydraulics pump. The bad bearing would not make noise with no load. You do have a noise with a cutter load.. Hard cap the hydraulic lines to the cutter and see how the pump sounds with the lines blocked. Put some pressure on the pump. Good luck. Great show and really enjoy how you all work togeather.
Took all of a few seconds to realize that your hearing will be bad like mine if you don't start wearing some hearing protection, that machine is is going to give you Tinnitus.....
John , high pitch whine starts when high flow is on, seems like it would be worth asv checking a restrictive hyd line (maybe to small) or a inline screen or hyd filter . The new 130 pump may build more pressure in those same size lines then the old 120 pump. you could also turn your gal per minute down to confirm if whine gets softer it is restrictive hyd line or turn up whine get loud same
Hey Guys, Rod from Greenville here. I drive past this corner several times during the day on my route. I was thinking that looks like a job done by Upstate Brush. I must have missed you or I would said Hey. Your work sure speaks for itself. Thanks because it was always hard to pull out on Floyd due to the brush. I see you somewhere soon.

Hi Jon, another great performance from your guys, the transformation even at this stage is staggering. Your new ASV 135 seems to work fine. I heard the noise.... and it could be a valve in the new higher flow pump not yet registered to your existing cutter. It will work out in time. Best wishes.

Hey bud I was just watching this video and it reminded me of a time. I had a close friend chasing a high pitched vibration noise. He thought he has a real serious issue and it exes up being just one loose bolt on a skid plate. Sounded like the whole machine was coming apart and had us scared to death, but it was just the belly skid plate vibrating.
I can appreciate the constructive criticism about your new ASV, you've spent hard earned money and you want to ensure that you are getting what you have paid for; much respect to you and the team. I've definitely been in your shoes before, keep up the great work though!
Jon, my first thought is pump cavitation. The suction line and/or screen is not allowing unimpeded flow to the pump. That will tear up a pump. Also, reduced oil to the pump will result in lower power.
I think you have a good suggestion here - as it answers both his symptoms: the noise and the low power. In line screens partially plugged with a scrap of plastic packaging on new equipment can cause erratic/low performance - all caused at the factory during the build. Could be. Bad fitting as well that’s deformed. Again- I think you are in the right track.

Hi Josh, I am beginning to be a fan. Been Following you guys for about a month now. Think I have seen most of the videos. I will be ordering a hat next month
Condensation in the hydraulic system turns into a vaseline like substance which clogs filters and screens and causes a whine. I been there and done that. Good luck with it. Phil Thompson
John, you don't look too happy. You're pretty down on this one. Brand new machine. It's making noise. I suggest you wear headphones until you get it fixed because that noise will drive you nuts. I hope you get it figured out soon. 👍👍🙂🇨🇦
Hydraulic pipe unproperly holded. Need stronger rubber pads or changes in RPM and pump settings. Get dealer to look for vibrations with bespoke sensors on steel pipes. Nice video as always. Good luck guys!
Pump cavitation? We use to run Komatsu excavators. If there was no pressure in the hydraulic tank. 8-10 PSI the pumps would howl like this. That little bit of pressure would help feed the pumps.
There are two separate whining sounds. There is one that sounds like an air-raid shelter sound that followers activity and then there is the working high-pitched sound. Air-mix ratios? Do you use air to cool the machine?
Hey John just saw your newest video and I was reminded to send you this message because of you guys having to find a new home for your business. Isaiah 43:19 🤙🏼 & Jeremiah 29:11-13🙏🏼❤️🤙🏼
it sounds like there may be a problem with a vane in one of the pumps, the whine is louder/rougher whenever the head is under load, if there is no issues within the flow or valves then that would be my guess

I am a mechanic and work on some hyd. It sounds like there air trapped somewhere in the system. I know it sounds simple, but I would suggest cracking lines one at a time on very low pressure. and check for air, it may make a small mess. I would think it is somewhere between the pump and a valve.
Youn say you set it up to run with the (CPU) it sounds like the setting are not right, and the pump is trying to pump more oil than what you need ,cutting it back to 43 might be the problem. Check and see if you can cut the flow back like that sound like the pump is stressed out .
John, having worked on and around equipment many times before, it seems to me that the whining you are hearing is coming from improper bearing tolerances in the pump. It really shows up under high rpms. It possibly could be a faulty bearing from the factory. I would stay with it while it is under warranty. The noise will only grow worse with age. Great job however on the video. There is always something eerily satisfying about watching your videos. Please keep them coming.
John, the extra noise is coming from the pump,it could be the design of the Yanmar pump since they took over CSV, Chris on let’s dig 18 new Yanmer 55 seems to me has a extra amount of whining coming from the machine. Hope this helps👍
I do hear it faintly,I would have to be in the cab to locate it. But I believe like you said John, that it is a pump, and you are just not use to the sounds in this one.❤😃
Would it be easier/faster for you guys and cheaper for the customer if you did this during the winter months?? Or is this a summer time job?? What's the avg cost for that size to clear?Just curious...I plan on clearing some land in the near future. I figure it would be easier without all the green. Thanks
About the noise, I have a similar situation with an old Mustang skid steer. It ended up being 'hydraulic aeration' on the suction side of the pump caused by seal leaking under high load and flow. I noticed slight reduced power when the noise was going on, but we didn't see aeriated hydraulic oil.
Sounds like the flow pump is just creating a whisel cutting out on flow. Have you tried running a head you can turn up the pump closer to full open..? See if sounds go away with more flow
Amazon and Auto Parts stores sell Automotive Stethoscope Engine Diagnostic tools. They start at less that $10 to $400.00 A big part of fixing a sound problem is finding it. You need some good noise canceling hearing protection too.
John if it that much of a winning. Start with the Belts, Fan, Alternator or its a Baron gone Bad. Rubbing of metal parts won't make a Winey Noise. So it is something that is Turning very Fast.
Check your hydraulic reservoir, for froth in the oil (lots of air foam), which would be indictive of a loose intake pick up line. I am inclined to believe that a intake line is sucking air. The noise sounds like cavitation
It sounds like the hydraulic gear pump has a cavitation problem, several things can contribute; clearance with the internal gears, flow returning being restricted, faulty pressure control, bearing, value, seal or coupling. Even though it is new there maybe have been some trash in the system from the factor causing blockage, restricing flow, dirty line, filter, strainer. I have seen the vent clogged and cause a little back pressure in the tank. Unfortunately with hydraulics there are many things that can contribute to the whine, but if not fixed can lead to catastrophic failure.
Love you content. Ever do a breakdown of what it cost to run these machines per hour. I imagine $50 a hour for gas , cutting blades, and maintenance will get me in the ballpark. Then I have to add my time and the payment plus depreciation. So I assumed you have to somewhere in the $300 a hour range to make this machine profitable. Let me know if I’m within the ballpark.
Howdee Mr. Upstate brush control, from a Sunny South-Africa. What is your typical running cost on the the FECON mulcher in terms of maintenance? Especially, how often do you need to sharpen the bits on the drum and or replace them? Your feedback will be much appreciated.
Sometimes, I stress sometimes, the quick couple connection can be faulty in either the male or female side of the connection point, can limit flow or set up a turbulence in the flow of oil, I have experienced this in hydraulic systems and it drives you nuts trying to track it down. Just a thought sir, thanks for the ride along, even with the screamin.
That seems like a lot of wood chills and scraps left behind. If this was cleared for a place to build a home, how would you go about cleaning all that up?
Maybe a stupid question but I’ll ask anyway. Could it be that the 135 has a different pump that it is designed to run happier with a higher GPM than the 120 or even what the head is set for ? It sounds like it’s bogging a bit and I’m wondering if it is designed for it optimal power to be at a higher GPM.
John, the annoying sound your hearing is probably caused by system harmonics. The pump is supplying oil not at a constant flow but pulsed ever so slightly. I have been a mechanical engineer for over 30 years and seen this sort of things many times. Bear in mind that the skid you are working and the mulcher were designed not in company. The load it takes from the skid may well be inside flow and pressure requirements available but realise that this mulcher was not the primary tool they had in mind designing this skid. It takes high flow at relatively low pressure most of the time, unless you are shredding three stumps. Your pump is probably a swivel disc load sensitive plunger pump and the motor in the mulcher something simillar, probably, not load regulated. Both these things send pressure waves thoughout the whole hydraulic system. Pinpointing the source of noise in a case like this can be extremely difficult. It can be as simple changing the working rpm or a length of hydraulic pipe and adding an extra clamp in the middle but usely it is much, much harder to find and to resolve. A different skid with the same power, pressure and flow characteristics wil behave totally different because it's different design. If everything mechanically checks out you probably have to live with it.
Sounds like the pump is cavitating meaning it’s pumping air instead of hydro oil. There could be a leaking seal under high pressure. Or the pump could be dirty or clogged and not letting enough oil flow. Personally I would start by cleaning the pump if you’re able to. If it has screens in it you can remove them and clean them off. But it definitely sounds like you’re getting air in your hydraulic system somehow.
Check your flow valve Your intake and outtake Where your hoses hook up atThey might be new but they might be bad to check your It aint letting the flow go throughYou might have it set for 25 gallon per minuteBut it aint letting the fluid go through like it shouldOr coming back like it should
It might be a reason why it is winding It is holding the pressure back on your pump But it will still run It don't take much hope pressure on a pump Because you do not have the flow So check your male and female hook UPS

Nice job enjoying the channel 👍aloha 🌺🤙🌺
Thanks for visiting!
That noise would drive me crazy! I can fully understand what you mean. I think its the hydraulic pump itself, isnt it?
Just saw you talking about the ASV so here’s another one 😁 Colossians 3:15 love you brother 🤙🏼🤙🏼
That whining sound in the hydraulics is possibly a worn swash plate on the variable speed pump.
John all your men Rock and you do too
Check your flow valve Your intake and outtake Where your hoses hook up atThey might be new but they might be bad to check your It aint letting the flow go throughYou might have it set for 25 gallon per minuteBut it aint letting the fluid go through like it shouldOr coming back like it should
It might be a reason why it is winding It is holding the pressure back on your pump But it will still run It don't take much hope pressure on a pump Because you do not have the flow So check your male and female hook UPS
Sounds like the pump with the hi flow. You can try your low flow and saw if that works then that should tell you better.
Holy wisteria!!!
Minute 12:10 something massive happens!!
Usually it's the simplest problem, what about a faulty bearing?
super video,bon job..
Great video
Thanks for watching!
Goodmorning all
How long did it take to do the acre and how much did it cost?
How much should one expect to pay for a job such as this, clearing 1 acre for a homestead??
Shot in the dark! bubbell test tubo connections with soapy water!!!!
