Excellent video! Very thorough. My story - I was rear ended recently and as a result needed a new bumper on my 2016 RAM 1500. The estimate from my body shop came in at $1700 to replace the bumper and repair very minor damage to a body panel. Well, after watching your video, I said to myself, "Self, you can do that". So I did. After receiving a check from the other fellow's insurance company, I purchased a new bumper for $385 and put it on and Boo Yah, I pocketed $1400. Amazing! Many thanks.
I just spent the entire time watching this video and am excited for my own results. Thank you so much for the vid. It’s great to learn from different people.
I don't make many comments on youtube...but wanted to take a second to say thank you for putting this video together. I changed my bumper this morning...and had your video running on my laptop while I was doing it. Appreciate you taking the time to put the video together. For those interested, here is the replacement bumper I used: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072N381S3/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
why not leave the 2 license plate bolts in while you do the 4 under bolts first, Then remove the wires.. Then, remove the plastics off the top entirely, before working on the brackets with the carriage bolts?
If you try to remove the plastic covers before removing the bumper the tabs have a much bigger chance of breaking off before it comes off(maybe not on the ram but chevy bumpers are a big PITA). No problem if you got new ones but swapping them over might as well make it easy on yourself. Removing the license plate bolts last is what I would do, no sense being underneath if you don't have to
Great video man! I have a 2015 ram 1500 express and I need to replace the rear bumper. Where do you find a factory replacement like that, and do they come pre painted? Thanks
I am removing my rear bumper as I speak, it is a 2002 SLT, I removed the 4 bolts as shown, but it feels like there is more bolts, or it is just hung up somehow. Is it possible there are more bolts ? I dont see any,,, ugh,,, any advise ?
Didn't pay attention in physics class, huh? In each case where you were showing your attempts to hold a carriage bolt in place AFTER you had loosened them, you could have done it much easier with a LEVER! Simply place a screwdriver or small prybar between the captive washer and the bracket & pry TOWARDS the impact... let the carriage square do its job! Work smarter, not harder!

Remove the bolts behind the license plate last. They hold the bumper in place while your under the truck removing the 4 bolts behind the bumper.
Thanks for the Tip Bill appreciated bud!!
Exactly what I thought!
You're so careful in your demo and I love your video very Informative
Very good job on the video. Thank you for taking the time to do this.
Glad it was helpful!
Great Job and very helpful.
A wooden wedge or small block of wood would help hold the carriage bolt head in place too
Can you make a video on taking a front bumper of 2016 dodge ram
Have you done one with the parking sensors and removing them from the bumper?

Good info, I have a 2016 2500 and want to get a dual exhaust bumper from a 1500 on it, do you know if it will fit?
Enrique Fernando Asensio it should
Been told they both have the same brackets. I'm wanting to do that conversion also.

Where did you get you new bumper? Was it powder coated or did you have it painted?

No advise,,, but I got a fancy red heart. !!!! 4 months after the time I was in need. !!! Thanks. !!!! 😁😁😁✌
You did the sequence completely backwards . Wire connectors first, bolts underneath next and the last two behind the license plate.
I have a 05 ram any suggestions for rusted bolts holding the bumper?
Smoove B I have used heat in the past (torch). Also PB Blaster. After it all doesn't work time to break out the grinder or sawzall bro!
thanks im a try the heat first if not grinder time...
Smoove B, how did that work for you? I have an 05 Ram and need to take off the rear bumper as well. Thanks
wow it looks great... i used a grinder and saws all and just got at it . i would advise you to get new bolts and washers .
Great tutorial!
Will a 2500 bumper fit on a 1500 or is modification needed
I've been told by dodge dealerships that a 1500 bumper will fit on a 2500. Same brackets on both.
