Great video. Ordered the new ABS seal online. Removed the old seal with a hair dryer. Cleaned the ABS with white vinegar and sponge/scouring pad. When going around the corners don’t stretch the seal too tight. Heat up the seal. The rubber mallet is a must. The instructions are perfect. Thanks.

I ordered this part from them in Spring of 2021. I followed this video 100 percent. my surface was super clean and I used a heat gun for installations in the corners. After storing it for the winter the back seal where they meet was hanging down and the left and right sides sagged down. After examining the seal the glue on the inside came off of the gasket and was firmly stuck to the camper still. So after buying an expensive gasket, get some messy gasket glue also.
Really appreciate the video - seemed to go ok except at the corners - that was a little tougher, especially since the bundle was rolled opposite the direction that it needed to go on - but used a heat gun to make it more malleable and so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it worked ok. Also, the red tape wasn't really attached to the glued surface when it came, so am also keeping fingers crossed that it retains sufficient stickiness for the bonding. Loved the tips for removing the old seal and for cleaning it/prep work. Very informative and helpful! Might just get a few more years of use out of that old Coleman yet!!! Next finding a portable toilet and we can socially distance as needed!

I have a 1996 Sun Valley. I replaced the seal 2 years ago and it is still in good condition (granted I don't get out enough to give it good wear and tear). The question I need help with is after repairing roof with Grizzly Grip in the next month (need to replace de-laminated ABS), what glue do you suggest using to "re-apply" the 2 yer old (in good shape) roof seal?? another concern is without the ABS roof, is the roof is now thinner. how do we get the roof seal to fit tightly. Your help is greatly appreciated. Sorry for long post - Kalani
Thanks for writing! The roof coating manufacturer is your best bet to check with to know what will bind it to rubber. For the fit question, I recommend two steps. First, apply a bit more paint to the bottom of the roof. Second, evenly close the clamping area of the seal with a long board. It has a core that can take a new shape.

Hey got my seal in today and as we talked on the phone it is different than the one in the video. any hints to installing it? it looks like it has to go into a track so as with a car seal a 50/50 mix of water and dawn will make it easier to slide into place. but what about the corners i think you said cut at a 45 deg angle? should i start in the rear of the roof?

I've seen many people have been having good results with miracle mist. Take a look at some social media postings for result images. I have not yet personally tried it, but it appears to work well.
@@popupcamperpro Miracle Mist saved the truly digustingly dirty canvas on the 2000 Sante Fe we bought in February, taking it from destined for the dump to summer camping fun. It took me a bottle and a half to get all of my canvas cleaned. Wipe down dirty canvas with a damp sponge, spray on Miracle Mist, wipe/scrub down with damp sponge and should be good to go! I'll reply with pictures of my before / after.
Hello Shannon! Light detergents, heat guns and elbow grease work well. If your still fighting it, try adhesive remover. Test a small spot first. I personally have not tried adhesive remover on an ABS roof.
My ABS roof will need to be removed and possibly will have a Grizzly Grip liner applied, as there are several spots cracked open and the bottom edges are dry crumbling/breaking off. How well does the seal fit/adhere when the ABS roof has been removed and replaced with a Grizzly Grip spray? **I am a total beginner working to remodel my Coleman 1998 Sante Fe Popup.
In this instance it may be necessary to build up a leading edge for the seal gap. I apologize but I have yet to preform this modification, although I did just acquire a camper with severe roof delamination to try it on later this year.
I don’t believe so Andy. The adhesive is very high quality. I have heard from customers over the years that did the same, and have not heard back saying they had an issue. I even left the red film off the tape on a roll for 1 year then installed a section on a roof to test the performance. It grabbed and held just fine.

Is this the same item & procedure for the front cargo container? The rubber seal where the lid meets (when closed) has come off all around one corner.
You may need a new Seal for this application. It has a metal clamp inside the channel.
can we use this type of seal if we have removed the ABS?

What is the adhesive you use for the seal? I have some cracks in the abs roof & what I used didn't stick well.
Our's has a double sided automotive grade tape installed into the seal, requiring no other adhesives Shane.
How do I know which seal for my 2001 sunvalley camper it's 12 ft 10 inches long by 7 ft 2 inches wide this makes more than 41 inches total.

It’s most common to try to leave a lower edge if possible for the seal to adhere to.
The bottoms edges are cracking and falling off in pieces along the edge so I cannot imagine I could leave pieces??
