The gacha isn't much different from star rail (except the weapon banner is arguably worse so dont try pulling weapons unless you saved up plenty) So yeah the blue balls are gray tickets, pink balls are gold tickets, go ahead and do the 20 discounted pulls on beginner banner, it's literally just the standard banner but cheaper and "you will AT LEAST get noelle". The rest is just "Dont bother using primogems (jades) for standard and all that yadda yadda. And as always, just do what you wanna do and have fun because... Well, just have fun.

It's actually better than the standard banner, because you can't get any 4 or 5 star weapons, only characters, and you can't get any characters from Inazuma or later, so no problems with ascension materials. You also can't get any dupes of characters you already have because Noelle and the "free three" are also excluded from the random part of the banner (Noelle is fixed of course).
Not really actually. since the fate point now is 1/1, weapon banner in genshin is better than lightcone in Star rail if we compared both (well it is my personal opinion of course) . Just Like this, If you got standard banner, you just pull guaranteed the limited you want next, but if you win but not what you choose, the next one is guaranteed, so technically you have an opportunity to get 2 limited weapon in one banner, compared to HsR, you need to change the banner to choose which one light cone you want to have becaus the LCs are in sparated banner. In genshin you have a possibility to get both because it is a single banner. But i agreed that before it's change to 1/1, weapon banner is worse, but even worse before the fate point exist🤣
I cannot describe how much I love this series already! It is so so refreshing to see someone who actually wants to play the game and reads dialogue, interacts with npcs etc. With how much attention you are paying to this game's wonderful worldbuilding I can't wait to see your reactions to some of the quests later on. Keep up the good work, can't wait for the next episode!
A lot of people have already explained the wish system so I won't repeat everything. The only advice I feel like giving is this: pull for whoever you want. Genshin doesn't really need meta characters to progress and enjoy the story, you can clear the entire game with the free characters you get at the start. Just be aware that characters' level up materials are generally found in the regions that were released with them, so if you get a limited character from Fontaine or Sumeru you'll have to cross the entire map to get those materials and level them up (plus Inazuma is directly story locked until you get there). Aside from this, enjoy your Teyvat journey! I'm really loving your playthrough.

Seeing you play around with fire + wind to create flaming tornados and setting the entire world on fire has been so fun! Some of the other elements are also really fun to use to interact with the environment and I’m really looking forward to you playing around with them too
my one tip for getting into elemental reactions in genshin is to think of it more like as if youre mixing colors to get new combinations, and less pokemon-ish "fire is weak against water" ^^ in genshin different reactions create different effects ,some have dmg multipliers, others might lower your enemy's defense, create a shield, etc, you'll get the hang of it as you go but dont worry too much, Water vs Fire is just as strong as Fire vs Water because they make the same reaction
Nope fire on water is not as strong water on fire. If you vaporize using water while the enemy has fire on it, it has a higher multiplier. fire on water = x1.5 water on fire = x2

Yeah there is no guaranteed early 5 star in this game. Genshin was the first mainstream gacha game, so a lot of things weren't ironed out. I would personally still recommend doing at least a 10 pull on the beginner banner. You get a guaranteed Noelle. She is both a shielder and a healer, and she uses a claymore (a heavy weapon helpful for destroying rocks faster) so she'll be very useful for you early on in the game until you get better sustains and learn how to dodge. You could also get lucky and get another character in that 10 pull or even a 5 star :D Also definitely get the oculi things and give them to the statues as much as possible. Statue levels also increase you max stamina so that you can run, climb and swim more. Also yeah the higher their level the better the statues will look. By doing this you're technically also repairing them. Weapons also change appearance after being ascended to a certain point (I think it was ascension 3, so not anytime soon for you, but just a cool detail).

For the gacha, the meta in this game doesn’t much matter, so you can really choose whoever you like. Of course, for overworld, probably choose a character that can heal or shield you to have in your party, and keep different elements in your party for puzzles or elemental immune enemies, but otherwise, whatever you want to do. Meta only matters in the spiral abyss, (the main endgame mode.) the imaginarium theater is the other endgame, but you don’t need strong characters really, just a lot of built characters, so I wouldn’t even think about it until you’ve got a bunch of characters built. One last note, unlike some other gacha games, four star characters are very viable and some (like Bennett) are better than 5 star characters. So, if you like a four star character, you can definitely add them to your team, since almost every character can clear endgame content.
More tips and trivia! The blue Fates (Acquaint) are your standard banner pulls. These can only be used in standard banner (Wanderlust Invocation) and Beginner's Wish. The multicolored Fates (Intertwined) are for limited banner pulls. Basically, everything else. Recommendation is to pull Beginner's Wish until it's no longer available. After that, you're free to pull Standard whenever you have spare Acquaint Fates. __ Certain characters in Mondstadt are actually rocking redesigns, Amber and Jean being some of them. This was in response to make them more... regulation friendly, to put it simply. You can actually see what their outfits used to look like in the Character menu, and can even wear it yourself if you so please! --- Time to learn one of the elemental reactions: Swirl! This occurs when Anemo comes in contact with either Pyro, Hydro, Electro, or Cryo. When a Swirl is triggered, it will emit a burst that matches with the corresponding element, making it particularly helpful against crowds. Anemo is not affected by Geo or Dendro.
Do you know if the pity on the noelle banner shifts to the standard banner? Of not, that would suck for new players who REALLY would prefer any other 4-star than Noelle.

Haha, the reason Amber's "alternate" outfit is so insanely similar is because that's just her regular, uncensored design. A few years after release, Genshin got into a bit of trouble with Chinese authorities and had to censor some character designs, so now their "default" look is the censored version. Other characters have proper alternate skins that actually look different 😊
5:30 - Some NPCs give free items if you talk to them. You can see the option having a chest icon. 17:00 - They are helpful because Jean herself is helpful. She'll do almost all chores in Mondstadt. You'll understand when you do her quest.
about the wishes: you can pull on every banner but there are some things you need to know. At first every banner has a max pitty at 90 pulls so it can take a lot of time till you get your first 5* charakter. So to the banners: The first banner is the beginner banner its really good for getting your first charakter but you can only do 20 pulls on the banner and after that the banner disappiers. A other good thing about it is that one 10pull only costs 8 standart banner wishes (the blue ones) I would recomend to pull on this banner one time and after that consentraid on the other banners, becouse the bad thing about this banner is that your pulls go in to the pitty from the beginner banner and not into the standart banner. The next two banner with the characters at the front are the event character banner so they are time limitid and some need a really long time to rerun. I would say on this banner you can pull whenever and howmuch you want and this banner is also where your primogems should go into. This banner has a banner system where you have a 50/50 chance of getting the character at the front and a 50/50 chance of getting a standart banner 5* character. The banner with the two wappons at the front is a wappon banner so you cant get a character out of them and there are known to be a scam, becouse they need the event banner wishes (the pink ones) and they have a stupid banner system. If you look at the left side you see a "Epitomized Path" it works like this: if you klick on it you can choose that wappon you want to get from the 2 wappons at the front and if you pull there is a chance that you get the other wappon (the one that you did't choose or a standart banner 5* wappon) if that happons you will see on the left side that the a fate point will go up to 1/1 and that means that the next 5* 100% will be your selected 5* wappon, but on the next banner this fate point will reset to 0/1 this is why its called a scam banner. side note this banner is the only banner with a max pitty at 80 pulls so you are garantied a 5* after 80 pulls. the last banner is the standart banner: that banner is easy to explain becouse its the same as the event banner but you cant get a event character out of this banner so you should not spend your primos is this banner. As far as pulling for characters go, do be aware that raising characters requires materials/world bosses *only* available in that character's native region (with very few exceptions). Neuvillette's banner is tomorrow, for example, but raising him would require you to traverse all the way to and explore Fontaine. Zhongli, who's arguably the best shielder in the game and probably better for early game if you were interested in either, hails from Liyue, so you'll be able to unlock his ascension materials fairly quickly, particularly if you were wanting to keep region exploring chronological and as you enter them in story. That said, outside of Inazuma and a few underground maps, which are all quest-locked, nothing is stopping you from venturing outside of Mondstadt.

As a new(ish) player, is Noelle actually that good? I assumed she was basically just a placeholder character so players had access to Geo (and two-handed weapons) until getting [spoiler character] as a more practical option.
@danielslack9114 - she’s mediocre until you get her c6, at which point she can actually be a fairly strong DPS (not amazing, but still quite solid). But even before then, sometimes it can be really helpful to have both heals and shields on a single character. I’ve been using her a lot against the Azdaha weekly boss as a heal/shield, and she definitely makes the fight easier than if I used Jean as a healer (without shields).
Oh one thing Donny that I highly recommend to do since its mainly a resource/time gated thing. Smack. Trees. All of the trees. Trees give different Tree things. Trees are good to smack up to 3 hits each. Trees.
Noelle is a geo shielder/healer so if you think you'll enjoy playing her, no harm in pulling on her banner. But worth noting that the wishes you put into the new-joiner wishing banner won't carry over into the standard wishing banner (so you'll have technically lost 10 pity), but it's up to you whether that matters. Quick gatcha system explanation (it's similar to HSR): - 160 primogems = 1 acquaint/intertwined fate = 1 pull - You use acquaint fates (the blue ones) for the standard banner, and intertwined fates (the purpleish ones) for the standard banner - You're guaranteed one 5-star every 90 wishes, and one 4-star every 10 wishes. - There's a 50/50 chance that the 5-star will be the featured 5-star on the banner, or it could be a 5-star character or weapon from the standard banner. - If you lose your 50/50, the next 5-star you pull is guaranteed to be the featured character. - Same logic applies for the weapon banner, but the 5-star pity is 80, and you can select the featured 5-star weapon you want to pull using the "epitomized path" button on the weapon banner I've been playing since release and my advice is to always try out the featured character trials and then pull on the banner if you enjoy their playstyle, meta be damned :)
You playing HSR. So except the weapon, the system are same with whishes in star rail. As for weapon, there are 2 system, 50/50 and fate point. You know 50/50 system i assumpt, but fate point means if the 5 stars isn't the one you choose from the fate point, you will get 1 point so the next one will definitely the one you choose. (Previous fate point were 2/2, means s*ck, and before fate point system, wishes weapon in genshin is HELL). Now it is better. What makes it 's different with star rail? For exmple : you are 50/50 and choose limited chasca weapon on fate point as ur target, but you got leyney's limited weapon instead. Tecnically you won the limited weapon (50/50 system), but since it wasnt the weapon you choose, you lost at fate point (system), then the next 5 stars will be guaranteed chasca weapon if you keep wishing on the banner.. so you have an oppoftunity to get 2 limited weapon in the same pity. If you got standard weapon instead of those limited, well it is just like normal pulling. That what makes make it abit different with HSR. In HSR signature lightcones are sparated, right? Because I am still grinding for Sunday's LC.. 😆 He is one of youtuber who new and trying genshin with very details alongside jerada that I dont skip his video.. i hope you play with your own pace and play the game longer.. especially if you interesting with the lore.. 🙏 Thank you for the video
42:45 you're gonna run into this a lot, so: if you stand next to the "Seelie Court" (the home of the ghost thingy), you can use elemental sight and it shows you the direction to the Seelie (ghost) so you can find it easier.
I think using the wishes on the beginner banner is better. You are guaranteed a Noelle.. but if you want to test your luck on the wanderlust invocation wish banner you can try. The statue of 7 heals instantly when you get close. Set the healing percentage to 100% to heal characters faster. And you can also make food to revive characters and heal! I hope I helped a little.

If you lose the 50/50, it generates the guaranteed pity for your next pull. Also, the beginner banner, which guarantees Noelle, should be your focus for now. The game will give you those blue orbs, aka "standard tickets," to pull on it.
Yesss!!! 2nd episode already!!! Oh gosh, it kinda pulled me back to the first time you started Star Rail, hahah... The excitement!!!! I'm honestly so happy that you find so many things interesting in Genshin and that you think you''ll like the game. Also, Genshin music are some of my favorite, i just went to a Genshin Concert Tour last week, and it's honestly such a great experience, i can't wait for you to discover more music in the game.
Stamina costs can be reduced by using certain foods for climbing, sprinting and gliding also you can increase your stamina by upgrading the statue of the seven. I personally would roll the eight on the beginner banner, that way you will have Noelle who has a shield and some limited healing, also being a great sword user Noelle mines are faster.
50:30 ofc you can just go for whoever you want cos genshin isn't as complicated as star rail where you gotta have a certain team to do high damage with. my only concern for you rn is that the banners right now features characters that uses materials found in their regions so you gotta explore to build them properly. chasca is from natlan and lyney is from fontaine, which are two of the most latest regions in the game. i suggest that maybe build a team focusing on the free characters that you get or pull on the beginner banner (the one with noelle) and then work around or play around with the characters who's playstyle you like. or maybe wait for the second phase who has neuvillette (who is from fontaine) zhongli (the best shielder in game and his materials are found on the region right next to mondstadt). same with star rail, in the events tab there is the character trials so you can play around and figure if you enjoy the play styles of the different characters featured in the banners right now.
Two Tips, 1st is Battle, 2nd is Overall: If you hold your main character's elemental burst, not the Tornado, but the small "Rasengan" like skill, then you can pull smaller enemies like normal Hilichurls, but not big ones in and it gives them constant damage till you are either hit by some others from the side or until your skill gets to cool down or till you let go of the skill [Don't wanna spoiler name but the blond dude who you picked from the twins] Also there is fall damage, your characters can temporarily die if they fall of from a cliff or high above, you can revive them with reviving foods which you can also make like regular food
I'm sure a hundred people already told you about the wishing system and that I'm not going to say anything new, but something I'd like to say is: I LOVE how interested you are in the elemental workings of the game! It's nice to see someone come in and, right off, be interested in the combat system based on the elements. You'll get introduced to it in-game, so I'm not going to blather about it in a comment (I think it's easier to learn by doing, anyway) but one thing I would tell you is that your beginning team (the characters given for free) *can* carry you. Amber doesn't usually get a lot of attention but you've already learned to use her well with your Traveler, and despite early game being a relative breeze, there's still one boss I take my Amber for, just because. As for the "beginner" wish: do it. I did an F2P account to look back and wound up getting a standard five-star from that beginner banner, and you're guaranteed a Noelle, who can very much carry you in this game, so you basically have zero downside to the beginner banner! Noelle is a 4-star claymore, and you correctly identified her as a geo user. Her skill gives you a shield, and while her shield is up, her normal attack heals you (though it's randomized as to if the hit heals). She's worth it if only for an early-game healer that doesn't apply her element to your character. (When you eventually get Barbara, her skill is a heal, but applies the "wet" status, which you'll soon learn can be used against you.) If you happen to get the White Iron great sword (a 3-star) make sure to give it to Noelle! Looking forward to more of this series!
I don't understand why people make reactors react to character trailers before even starting the game. Half the fun is meeting the characters for the first time and the surprise of discovering what they are in game as you progress.
Like starrail you have two kinds of pull pools. The standard wish (the blue orbs) and the special wishes (pink ones). You prob want to spent most of your premogens for pink wishes like in starrail for the limited chars and i would highly suggest waiting for the upcoming banner cause it has zhongli in it and he is a pretty good all rounder sustain ^-^
Man just to give credit where credit is due: I am usually not a fan of watching people play Gacha games but your commentary and edits are entertaining. Heck after Star Rail and ZZZ you even make me watch Genshit content and I am enjoying it
i love watching others exploring genshin world for the first time so dont worry about cutting it out, a lot of us like it. and you can raise your stamina by worshipping the statues so its really worth it
My advice for wishing varies depending on what type of player you are. If you are the type of player who likes to play to the meta or just see big numbers, there are certain characters you should avoid because they are hard to get to the meta standard. In that case, the two banners up right now are good options to wish on, as well as a hydro (water) character that will be running in a couple of days. If you are the type of player who wants and likes to use your favorite characters no matter their meta value, I recommend waiting till you meet the character in game to wish for them, so that you can get to know them. Once you have a character that you like you can just chill and use your characters or choose to build them up by obtaining their best supports and teammates (this game rewards team-building). If you like wishing for attractive characters, my only warning is that there are a lot of them so you will be wishing A LOT. P.S. don't wish on the weapan banner unless you have enough wishes saved for a guarantee. Other comments explain the mechanics better then I could so look at them for more info. Double P.S. this game has a mechanic like star rail where you can play test the characters currently on banner. I would recommend completing them not only for the rewards but also because they give a good idea of how the characters feel to play.
When speaking with Herman you didn't notice the different symbol on the other response. That stmbol means they give you free stuff. You talk to NPCs most times with the right dialogue choices you get free stuff. Not earth shattering but you can get some helpful materials.
The wish system is almost identical to Star Rail the only difference is that instead of split weapon banners they are on the same banner and you could lose a 50/50 to the other limited weapon and they make you select which weapon you want incase you lose the 50/50. The blue Acquaint Fates are for standard banner pulls. Think silver Star Rail tickets Intertwined Fates are for limited character and weapon banners. Think gold Star Rail tickets.
Wishing works like this: Every 10 Pull guarantees a 4 Star Weapon or Character but you might get characters before that as well Every 90 Pull guarantees a 5 Star Character, but you might lose your 50/50 on getting the Banner's character or getting a Standard banner character like Jean or some others, but if you lose your 50/50 the next 50/50 is a guaranteed event character You can get Primogems, star thingies by doing a lot of things like commissions which will open later and are daily tasks like in Star Rail, exploring, opening chests, doing quests, leveling up and many many others, just basically play the game for them You can get wishes through buying the purple and blue and the blue star thingies I advise you get the purple and blue ones from primos because the blue ones you naturally get from just playing the game at times even as a f2p Next event banners after current ones, after Chasca and Lyney dissapear will have a powerful Hydro (water) DPS and a powerful shielder You can also get wishes through two other currencies which you get by wishing Playing Archon quests [Main quests] also I think gives purple and blue wishes, but those are definitely the more important ones since blue ones are just Standard Banner and Beginner Banner An extra thing, some other 4stars are in the banners as well often who aren't seen on the screen of the banners You can read more about who and what you can get by going into the wish menu, opening "Details"
Play at your own pace. You will know everything by reading tutorial Also the lore in this game is crazy but most of them are found in books and item description so be prepared for some reading if you want to learn more
It was so fun to see a new player reacting to genshin and I'm really looking forward to this series!! Regarding the banners: on the current banner we actually have 2 great options, since Zhongli is the strongest shielder and Neuvillette one of the strongest DPS ingame. On the long run I'd personally pull for both but you'll get Noelle on the beginner banner, who is healer AND shielder (obviously not as strong as zhongli, but she'll surely be helpful!) and you could use her instead of Zhongli for the time being 🤔 In addition there is no hydro character you get by default, that would be another reason to pull for Neuvillette~ 😇
Dont worry about wishing characters. You can even clear the main contents with just starter (free) characters even though they're four-star. Just build them well, and you're good to go.
Pull on Noelle's banner first. It's the most reliable banner, gacha-wise,, because you're guaranteed Noelle. She is one of the most reliable shielders early-on.
For wishes: Start of by doing the character “trial runs” in the events menu. That lets you try out the banner characters while getting rewards for doing it, so you can see if you like their gameplay. Then, I would suggest using your Limited Wishes (the pink ones) on trying to get Neuvilette (starting this Wednesday) and Mavuika (starting in January). Obviously try them out in the trials first to see if you find them fun, but if you like their gameplay, either one can be very helpful once you get past the two introductory continents. For standard wishes (the blue ones), you might as well use 16 on the Beginner banner before using them on the standard banner. Some people suggest skipping the Beginner banner but it’s only 16 standard wishes so it barely makes any difference.
For wishes, just follow the general gacha rule of never spending premium currency (primogems) on the beginner & standard banner since you'll get free wishes for that one just from playing 😉 Beyond that, honestly you can just pull for whatever you want. Genshin is a pretty chill game and all characters are viable for story, so any "omg you HAVE to use character xy!!" is not actually as pressing as some people might make it out to be. Even endgame is definitely more forgiving than HSR, though ofc there are differences between meta and non-meta characters there.
Banners are much like StarRail (no surprise) The beginner banner as someone else said, doesn't build pity for the standard but only lasts for 20 pulls, ten of which they just gave you, and another 10 will be given later. But since it'll be 20% off, there's 4 wish left. And it does give you Noelle who is a tank and healer so very helpful. Plus you can get some amazing characters from it. I haven't gotten a 5 star myself but have watched streamers pull them from beginner banner
One of the reasons for the elements to be named the way they are is that they aren't purely just the thing. Anemo isn't just "wind", it has other properties. You seem like you like lore so it's probably going to be more fun for you to figure the more specific stuff out for yourself, so I'll leave it at that.
For reference, the gacha system in Genshin is pretty much exactly like Star Rail's. The Wanderlust Invocation is the standard banner, so the characters on there (specifically Qiqi, Keqing, Diluc, Mona, Jean, Dehya and Tighnari) are available on the limited banner if you lose your 50/50. The blue balls (...you get me) are the standard tickets, the pink balls are the gold/limited banner tickets. The pity system also works in the same way (so different pity for standard vs limited banner, pity carries across to the next lim banner, soft pity at 75/hard pity at 90 for character banner and 65/80 for weapon banner, etc.) That said, I think the beginner banner is quite worth it. The pity won't carry to the standard banner, but the discounted pulls are very worth it as a beginner, though some people might disagree with me on this. Don't spend your primogems (jades) on it, since the game will eventually give you a good few standard pulls (there's even the same monthly shop system as HSR, so you can get them from there), but I think it's not a bad idea to pull on it when you get enough standard fates for it! Of course, if you prefer to just focus on getting to pity on standard banner asap, you have that option as well. The beginner banner doesn't go away until you pull on it twice, so you don't have to do it within a certain timeframe, and can decide whenever. I hope you have fun with the game! As hoyo's first game in this style and being the one that really made them famous (though hi3 was already popular in china, but it was a bit more niche in the west), it really is a very good and well-crafted game. They essentially copypasted a lot of mechanics onto HSR, and it has a lot of improvements over Genshin since it is newer and run by a different team, hence the idea of it being the "favorite child" (which... I can't deny.... sigh), but I think even so Genshin is a fantastic experience especially if you're playing it for the first time. Don't let anyone tell you what to do if you don't want to do it and just have your fun exploring, as that's what the game does best! It's always a blast to watch someone figuring Genshin out for the first time as I'm sure we veteran players all wish we could experience it for the first time again ahaha! You definitely picked a great time to start the game, also. They've recently started adding a lot of long-requested quality of life features (some of which have been in HSR for a while, such as the log during quests), and the game honestly is finally starting to feel more complete even though it's been out for a good 4 years now. let it be known that some of the release 1.0 4-stars are still the most widely used units in the game - and they don't have trailers. Other than that, try to pick up Zhongli from the upcoming banner and just drift wherever luck takes you
For the wish system! you might notice there's two types of wish currency in the menu: Acquaint Fates and Intertwined Fates, both of which are purchased with primogems. Acquaint Fates can only be spent on the standard/permanent banner, while Intertwined Fates can only be spent on the limited character and weapon banners. My main advice is *do not* spend your primogems on acquaint fates. Any acquaint fates you get as rewards are fine to spend, but considering the amount of primogems you get it's much better to save for the limited banners. The characters within the standard banner are older, and while some are decent, they're not characters I would focus on (unless you really like one of them). Other than only spending primos on the limited banners, pull for whoever you'd wish for! Although i'd only focus on getting 1-2 dps characters, and then some good supports. Basically any character can work decently, so you dont need to worry about meta. just play who you like/are drawn to! Keep in mind though that you won't really be able to level up characters until you've unlocked their region, so maybeee don't aim for natlan characters right now. However if u do want some meta focused characters, here's a few I'd recommend: - Kazuha: widely considered to be one of the best characters in the game. He's an anemo support. Basically he can group up enemies by pulling them towards himself, and has some good buffing qualities - Xilonen: a newer character but already viewed as one of the top supports in the game. She can buff your team and heal which is pretty nice - Nahida: Basically the best dendro support. If you want to run any denro team, she's your go-to. - Neuvillette: One of the best DPS out there. Super strong - Arlecchino: One of the other best DPS - Yelan: Amazing hydro sub-dps. She can apply hydro while off-field, doing a bunch of extra damage and elemental reactions. - Zhongli: Not super meta anymore, but definitely useful considering he's a great shield character - Furina: Great support/sub dps, you just need to make sure you run a healer with her those were all 5 stars, since they get their own dedicated banners, but theres a few 4-star characters who make absolutely amazing supports. Those are bennett, kuki shinobu, fischl, xiangling, and xingqiu. If you can get your hands on any of them, take the opportunity!
Hello! I just wanted to say that the beginning in this game is quite slow, easy and quite boring compared to the rest, but it's comprehensive because the beginning is only the tutorial of the game. It gets more interesting by proceeding on. The story is very very long. Every new region and main story you unlock drops some lore, little by little. I also wanted to specify that this game uses a lot of random references: Archons' (Deities') names are inspired by demonology, the elements' names are in ancient greek, Fatui Harbingers' names are from the traditional italian theater from 1600, and so on. I also recommend saving your primogems and resources only for characters you need in your team comps (to know how characters work read their Talents in characters' menu). Lastly, use pins in your map to mark chests/challenges and so on because the map is huge and that way you will be able to find things easily. Enjoy!
The biggest advice I can give you on the wish system is to check which currency the banners use. If they use the blue ones, ONLY role on them if you already have the blue items necessary to do so. Your primogems (the star currency) can be converted into currency for any kind of banner, and you are always going to want to use them on the ones that take the pink/purplish items. These are the limited time banners, and you can get everything you can get from the standard ones that use the blue items in them while you're attempting to acquire limited time characters/weapons anyway. Anytime you would get a five star, you have a 50/50 chance to get the focus character on a limited time banner (although those odds WERE increased recently with a new complicated system I won't bother explaining; just know your chances are actually better then a flat 50/50 now), and if you don't get that character you'll get one from one of the default banners and will be guaranteed to get the focal character the next time you get a five star. This will carry over even if the banner changes, as will your pity. Your pity for character event banners is also shared between both event character banners going on at one time, while the weapon event banner and default banner will each have their own. Pity in this game has a hard cap of 90, but you'll never hit it because the 5 star rate increases to 20% when you hit 74. You'll get a wide variety of four star weapons and character just in the process of rolling for which five stars you want, so my advice is this: use all your currency to try to get limited time 5 star characters you want. Weapons aren't important because this isn't a turn based game, meaning there isn't likely going to be anything you won't be able to solve with more basic weapons you can find just by playing the game unless you're doing quite literally the hardest end game content the game has to offer and even then, I've found you never need five star weapons. They're mostly just damage buffs, so going for getting the characters you like is the best way to utilize your resources in a way that diversifies the play experience. Just a side note, if you ARE the kind of player who spends money, make sure you have welkin moon up at all times and buy the default battle passes, as they are by far the best currency value you'll get for your money in the game, and will only need to be repurchased every 1 month/six weeks respectively. That is the best advice I can give you as someone who has played since day 1 and has acquired every character in the game thus far.

@@Loijde "Aether", or "ether", as a classical element refers to the elements that exist outside the terrestrial sphere (basically the stuff up in space and the heavens). "Aether" is also the name of the primordial god of light in Greek mythology; the son of Erebus and Nyx and the brother of Hemera.
On a related note, "lumine" is apparently an outdated verb that means "to illuminate". While the names obviously don't match, the meaning of Lumine does still convey the same idea as Hemera, the primordial goddess of day. Also, seeing as how the term "primordial god" has come up yet again, that adds one more thing that "Genshin" could be referring to.

The gacha isn't much different from star rail (except the weapon banner is arguably worse so dont try pulling weapons unless you saved up plenty) So yeah the blue balls are gray tickets, pink balls are gold tickets, go ahead and do the 20 discounted pulls on beginner banner, it's literally just the standard banner but cheaper and "you will AT LEAST get noelle". The rest is just "Dont bother using primogems (jades) for standard and all that yadda yadda.
And as always, just do what you wanna do and have fun because... Well, just have fun.

It's actually better than the standard banner, because you can't get any 4 or 5 star weapons, only characters, and you can't get any characters from Inazuma or later, so no problems with ascension materials. You also can't get any dupes of characters you already have because Noelle and the "free three" are also excluded from the random part of the banner (Noelle is fixed of course).
Not really actually. since the fate point now is 1/1, weapon banner in genshin is better than lightcone in Star rail if we compared both (well it is my personal opinion of course) .
Just Like this, If you got standard banner, you just pull guaranteed the limited you want next, but if you win but not what you choose, the next one is guaranteed, so technically you have an opportunity to get 2 limited weapon in one banner, compared to HsR, you need to change the banner to choose which one light cone you want to have becaus the LCs are in sparated banner. In genshin you have a possibility to get both because it is a single banner.
But i agreed that before it's change to 1/1, weapon banner is worse, but even worse before the fate point exist🤣
I cannot describe how much I love this series already! It is so so refreshing to see someone who actually wants to play the game and reads dialogue, interacts with npcs etc. With how much attention you are paying to this game's wonderful worldbuilding I can't wait to see your reactions to some of the quests later on.

A lot of people have already explained the wish system so I won't repeat everything. The only advice I feel like giving is this: pull for whoever you want. Genshin doesn't really need meta characters to progress and enjoy the story, you can clear the entire game with the free characters you get at the start. Just be aware that characters' level up materials are generally found in the regions that were released with them, so if you get a limited character from Fontaine or Sumeru you'll have to cross the entire map to get those materials and level them up (plus Inazuma is directly story locked until you get there). Aside from this, enjoy your Teyvat journey! I'm really loving your playthrough.

my one tip for getting into elemental reactions in genshin is to think of it more like as if youre mixing colors to get new combinations, and less pokemon-ish "fire is weak against water" ^^ in genshin different reactions create different effects ,some have dmg multipliers, others might lower your enemy's defense, create a shield, etc, you'll get the hang of it as you go but dont worry too much, Water vs Fire is just as strong as Fire vs Water because they make the same reaction
Nope fire on water is not as strong water on fire. If you vaporize using water while the enemy has fire on it, it has a higher multiplier.

Yeah there is no guaranteed early 5 star in this game. Genshin was the first mainstream gacha game, so a lot of things weren't ironed out. I would personally still recommend doing at least a 10 pull on the beginner banner. You get a guaranteed Noelle. She is both a shielder and a healer, and she uses a claymore (a heavy weapon helpful for destroying rocks faster) so she'll be very useful for you early on in the game until you get better sustains and learn how to dodge. You could also get lucky and get another character in that 10 pull or even a 5 star :D Also definitely get the oculi things and give them to the statues as much as possible. Statue levels also increase you max stamina so that you can run, climb and swim more. Also yeah the higher their level the better the statues will look. By doing this you're technically also repairing them. Weapons also change appearance after being ascended to a certain point (I think it was ascension 3, so not anytime soon for you, but just a cool detail).

For the gacha, the meta in this game doesn’t much matter, so you can really choose whoever you like. Of course, for overworld, probably choose a character that can heal or shield you to have in your party, and keep different elements in your party for puzzles or elemental immune enemies, but otherwise, whatever you want to do. Meta only matters in the spiral abyss, (the main endgame mode.) the imaginarium theater is the other endgame, but you don’t need strong characters really, just a lot of built characters, so I wouldn’t even think about it until you’ve got a bunch of characters built. One last note, unlike some other gacha games, four star characters are very viable and some (like Bennett) are better than 5 star characters. So, if you like a four star character, you can definitely add them to your team, since almost every character can clear endgame content.
More tips and trivia!
The blue Fates (Acquaint) are your standard banner pulls. These can only be used in standard banner (Wanderlust Invocation) and Beginner's Wish. The multicolored Fates (Intertwined) are for limited banner pulls. Basically, everything else.
Recommendation is to pull Beginner's Wish until it's no longer available. After that, you're free to pull Standard whenever you have spare Acquaint Fates.

Certain characters in Mondstadt are actually rocking redesigns, Amber and Jean being some of them. This was in response to make them more... regulation friendly, to put it simply. You can actually see what their outfits used to look like in the Character menu, and can even wear it yourself if you so please!

Time to learn one of the elemental reactions: Swirl! This occurs when Anemo comes in contact with either Pyro, Hydro, Electro, or Cryo. When a Swirl is triggered, it will emit a burst that matches with the corresponding element, making it particularly helpful against crowds.
Anemo is not affected by Geo or Dendro.
Do you know if the pity on the noelle banner shifts to the standard banner?
Of not, that would suck for new players who REALLY would prefer any other 4-star than Noelle.

Haha, the reason Amber's "alternate" outfit is so insanely similar is because that's just her regular, uncensored design. A few years after release, Genshin got into a bit of trouble with Chinese authorities and had to censor some character designs, so now their "default" look is the censored version.
Other characters have proper alternate skins that actually look different 😊

about the wishes:
you can pull on every banner but there are some things you need to know.
At first every banner has a max pitty at 90 pulls so it can take a lot of time till you get your first 5* charakter.
So to the banners:
The first banner is the beginner banner its really good for getting your first charakter but you can only do 20 pulls on the banner and after that the banner disappiers. A other good thing about it is that one 10pull only costs 8 standart banner wishes (the blue ones) I would recomend to pull on this banner one time and after that consentraid on the other banners, becouse the bad thing about this banner is that your pulls go in to the pitty from the beginner banner and not into the standart banner.
The next two banner with the characters at the front are the event character banner so they are time limitid and some need a really long time to rerun. I would say on this banner you can pull whenever and howmuch you want and this banner is also where your primogems should go into.
This banner has a banner system where you have a 50/50 chance of getting the character at the front and a 50/50 chance of getting a standart banner 5* character.
The banner with the two wappons at the front is a wappon banner so you cant get a character out of them and there are known to be a scam, becouse they need the event banner wishes (the pink ones) and they have a stupid banner system. If you look at the left side you see a "Epitomized Path" it works like this: if you klick on it you can choose that wappon you want to get from the 2 wappons at the front and if you pull there is a chance that you get the other wappon (the one that you did't choose or a standart banner 5* wappon) if that happons you will see on the left side that the a fate point will go up to 1/1 and that means that the next 5* 100% will be your selected 5* wappon, but on the next banner this fate point will reset to 0/1 this is why its called a scam banner.
side note this banner is the only banner with a max pitty at 80 pulls so you are garantied a 5* after 80 pulls.
the last banner is the standart banner: that banner is easy to explain becouse its the same as the event banner but you cant get a event character out of this banner so you should not spend your primos is this banner.

As far as pulling for characters go, do be aware that raising characters requires materials/world bosses *only* available in that character's native region (with very few exceptions).
Neuvillette's banner is tomorrow, for example, but raising him would require you to traverse all the way to and explore Fontaine. Zhongli, who's arguably the best shielder in the game and probably better for early game if you were interested in either, hails from Liyue, so you'll be able to unlock his ascension materials fairly quickly, particularly if you were wanting to keep region exploring chronological and as you enter them in story.
That said, outside of Inazuma and a few underground maps, which are all quest-locked, nothing is stopping you from venturing outside of Mondstadt.

As a new(ish) player, is Noelle actually that good? I assumed she was basically just a placeholder character so players had access to Geo (and two-handed weapons) until getting [spoiler character] as a more practical option.
@danielslack9114 - she’s mediocre until you get her c6, at which point she can actually be a fairly strong DPS (not amazing, but still quite solid).
But even before then, sometimes it can be really helpful to have both heals and shields on a single character. I’ve been using her a lot against the Azdaha weekly boss as a heal/shield, and she definitely makes the fight easier than if I used Jean as a healer (without shields).

Oh one thing Donny that I highly recommend to do since its mainly a resource/time gated thing. Smack. Trees. All of the trees. Trees give different Tree things. Trees are good to smack up to 3 hits each. Trees.
Noelle is a geo shielder/healer so if you think you'll enjoy playing her, no harm in pulling on her banner. But worth noting that the wishes you put into the new-joiner wishing banner won't carry over into the standard wishing banner (so you'll have technically lost 10 pity), but it's up to you whether that matters.
Quick gatcha system explanation (it's similar to HSR):
- 160 primogems = 1 acquaint/intertwined fate = 1 pull
- You use acquaint fates (the blue ones) for the standard banner, and intertwined fates (the purpleish ones) for the standard banner
- You're guaranteed one 5-star every 90 wishes, and one 4-star every 10 wishes.
- There's a 50/50 chance that the 5-star will be the featured 5-star on the banner, or it could be a 5-star character or weapon from the standard banner.
- If you lose your 50/50, the next 5-star you pull is guaranteed to be the featured character.
- Same logic applies for the weapon banner, but the 5-star pity is 80, and you can select the featured 5-star weapon you want to pull using the "epitomized path" button on the weapon banner
I've been playing since release and my advice is to always try out the featured character trials and then pull on the banner if you enjoy their playstyle, meta be damned :)

Typo in your second point. You say that both types of Fates can be spent on a standard banner.
You playing HSR. So except the weapon, the system are same with whishes in star rail. As for weapon, there are 2 system, 50/50 and fate point. You know 50/50 system i assumpt, but fate point means if the 5 stars isn't the one you choose from the fate point, you will get 1 point so the next one will definitely the one you choose. (Previous fate point were 2/2, means s*ck, and before fate point system, wishes weapon in genshin is HELL). Now it is better.
What makes it 's different with star rail?
For exmple : you are 50/50 and choose limited chasca weapon on fate point as ur target, but you got leyney's limited weapon instead. Tecnically you won the limited weapon (50/50 system), but since it wasnt the weapon you choose, you lost at fate point (system), then the next 5 stars will be guaranteed chasca weapon if you keep wishing on the banner.. so you have an oppoftunity to get 2 limited weapon in the same pity. If you got standard weapon instead of those limited, well it is just like normal pulling. That what makes make it abit different with HSR.
In HSR signature lightcones are sparated, right? Because I am still grinding for Sunday's LC.. 😆

I think using the wishes on the beginner banner is better. You are guaranteed a Noelle.. but if you want to test your luck on the wanderlust invocation wish banner you can try.
The statue of 7 heals instantly when you get close. Set the healing percentage to 100% to heal characters faster. And you can also make food to revive characters and heal!

Wish system: Almost the same as Star Rail. Character banners are the same, but the weapon (Light Cone) system is a bit trickier. Instead of two separate banners for the two featured characters, you have a 50/50 between both the featured weapons, and a 50/50 for getting the weapon in the first place. Sounds terrible (personal opinions and such), but it is _much_ better than what they had previously. Additionally, you have to "select" which weapon you'd like. If you lose the 50/50, it generates the guaranteed pity for your next pull.
Also, the beginner banner, which guarantees Noelle, should be your focus for now. The game will give you those blue orbs, aka "standard tickets," to pull on it.

Stamina costs can be reduced by using certain foods for climbing, sprinting and gliding also you can increase your stamina by upgrading the statue of the seven.
I personally would roll the eight on the beginner banner, that way you will have Noelle who has a shield and some limited healing, also being a great sword user Noelle mines are faster.
50:30 ofc you can just go for whoever you want cos genshin isn't as complicated as star rail where you gotta have a certain team to do high damage with. my only concern for you rn is that the banners right now features characters that uses materials found in their regions so you gotta explore to build them properly. chasca is from natlan and lyney is from fontaine, which are two of the most latest regions in the game.
i suggest that maybe build a team focusing on the free characters that you get or pull on the beginner banner (the one with noelle) and then work around or play around with the characters who's playstyle you like. or maybe wait for the second phase who has neuvillette (who is from fontaine) zhongli (the best shielder in game and his materials are found on the region right next to mondstadt).
same with star rail, in the events tab there is the character trials so you can play around and figure if you enjoy the play styles of the different characters featured in the banners right now.

If you hold your main character's elemental burst, not the Tornado, but the small "Rasengan" like skill, then you can pull smaller enemies like normal Hilichurls, but not big ones in and it gives them constant damage till you are either hit by some others from the side or until your skill gets to cool down or till you let go of the skill

Also there is fall damage, your characters can temporarily die if they fall of from a cliff or high above, you can revive them with reviving foods which you can also make like regular food

I'm sure a hundred people already told you about the wishing system and that I'm not going to say anything new, but something I'd like to say is:
I LOVE how interested you are in the elemental workings of the game! It's nice to see someone come in and, right off, be interested in the combat system based on the elements.
You'll get introduced to it in-game, so I'm not going to blather about it in a comment (I think it's easier to learn by doing, anyway) but one thing I would tell you is that your beginning team (the characters given for free) *can* carry you.
Amber doesn't usually get a lot of attention but you've already learned to use her well with your Traveler, and despite early game being a relative breeze, there's still one boss I take my Amber for, just because.
As for the "beginner" wish: do it. I did an F2P account to look back and wound up getting a standard five-star from that beginner banner, and you're guaranteed a Noelle, who can very much carry you in this game, so you basically have zero downside to the beginner banner!
Noelle is a 4-star claymore, and you correctly identified her as a geo user. Her skill gives you a shield, and while her shield is up, her normal attack heals you (though it's randomized as to if the hit heals). She's worth it if only for an early-game healer that doesn't apply her element to your character. (When you eventually get Barbara, her skill is a heal, but applies the "wet" status, which you'll soon learn can be used against you.) If you happen to get the White Iron great sword (a 3-star) make sure to give it to Noelle!

I don't understand why people make reactors react to character trailers before even starting the game. Half the fun is meeting the characters for the first time and the surprise of discovering what they are in game as you progress.

Like starrail you have two kinds of pull pools. The standard wish (the blue orbs) and the special wishes (pink ones). You prob want to spent most of your premogens for pink wishes like in starrail for the limited chars and i would highly suggest waiting for the upcoming banner cause it has zhongli in it and he is a pretty good all rounder sustain ^-^

My advice for wishing varies depending on what type of player you are.
If you are the type of player who likes to play to the meta or just see big numbers, there are certain characters you should avoid because they are hard to get to the meta standard. In that case, the two banners up right now are good options to wish on, as well as a hydro (water) character that will be running in a couple of days.
If you are the type of player who wants and likes to use your favorite characters no matter their meta value, I recommend waiting till you meet the character in game to wish for them, so that you can get to know them. Once you have a character that you like you can just chill and use your characters or choose to build them up by obtaining their best supports and teammates (this game rewards team-building).
If you like wishing for attractive characters, my only warning is that there are a lot of them so you will be wishing A LOT.
P.S. don't wish on the weapan banner unless you have enough wishes saved for a guarantee. Other comments explain the mechanics better then I could so look at them for more info.
Double P.S. this game has a mechanic like star rail where you can play test the characters currently on banner. I would recommend completing them not only for the rewards but also because they give a good idea of how the characters feel to play.
When speaking with Herman you didn't notice the different symbol on the other response. That stmbol means they give you free stuff. You talk to NPCs most times with the right dialogue choices you get free stuff. Not earth shattering but you can get some helpful materials.
The wish system is almost identical to Star Rail the only difference is that instead of split weapon banners they are on the same banner and you could lose a 50/50 to the other limited weapon and they make you select which weapon you want incase you lose the 50/50.
The blue Acquaint Fates are for standard banner pulls. Think silver Star Rail tickets
Intertwined Fates are for limited character and weapon banners. Think gold Star Rail tickets.

Wishing works like this:
Every 10 Pull guarantees a 4 Star Weapon or Character but you might get characters before that as well
Every 90 Pull guarantees a 5 Star Character, but you might lose your 50/50 on getting the Banner's character or getting a Standard banner character like Jean or some others, but if you lose your 50/50 the next 50/50 is a guaranteed event character
You can get Primogems, star thingies by doing a lot of things like commissions which will open later and are daily tasks like in Star Rail, exploring, opening chests, doing quests, leveling up and many many others, just basically play the game for them
You can get wishes through buying the purple and blue and the blue star thingies
I advise you get the purple and blue ones from primos because the blue ones you naturally get from just playing the game at times even as a f2p
Next event banners after current ones, after Chasca and Lyney dissapear will have a powerful Hydro (water) DPS and a powerful shielder
You can also get wishes through two other currencies which you get by wishing
Playing Archon quests [Main quests] also I think gives purple and blue wishes, but those are definitely the more important ones since blue ones are just Standard Banner and Beginner Banner
An extra thing, some other 4stars are in the banners as well often who aren't seen on the screen of the banners
You can read more about who and what you can get by going into the wish menu, opening "Details"
Play at your own pace. You will know everything by reading tutorial
Also the lore in this game is crazy but most of them are found in books and item description so be prepared for some reading if you want to learn more

Regarding the banners: on the current banner we actually have 2 great options, since Zhongli is the strongest shielder and Neuvillette one of the strongest DPS ingame. On the long run I'd personally pull for both but you'll get Noelle on the beginner banner, who is healer AND shielder (obviously not as strong as zhongli, but she'll surely be helpful!) and you could use her instead of Zhongli for the time being 🤔 In addition there is no hydro character you get by default, that would be another reason to pull for Neuvillette~ 😇
Dont worry about wishing characters. You can even clear the main contents with just starter (free) characters even though they're four-star. Just build them well, and you're good to go.
Pull on Noelle's banner first. It's the most reliable banner, gacha-wise,, because you're guaranteed Noelle. She is one of the most reliable shielders early-on.
For wishes:
Start of by doing the character “trial runs” in the events menu. That lets you try out the banner characters while getting rewards for doing it, so you can see if you like their gameplay.
Then, I would suggest using your Limited Wishes (the pink ones) on trying to get Neuvilette (starting this Wednesday) and Mavuika (starting in January). Obviously try them out in the trials first to see if you find them fun, but if you like their gameplay, either one can be very helpful once you get past the two introductory continents.
For standard wishes (the blue ones), you might as well use 16 on the Beginner banner before using them on the standard banner. Some people suggest skipping the Beginner banner but it’s only 16 standard wishes so it barely makes any difference.
For wishes, just follow the general gacha rule of never spending premium currency (primogems) on the beginner & standard banner since you'll get free wishes for that one just from playing 😉
Beyond that, honestly you can just pull for whatever you want. Genshin is a pretty chill game and all characters are viable for story, so any "omg you HAVE to use character xy!!" is not actually as pressing as some people might make it out to be. Even endgame is definitely more forgiving than HSR, though ofc there are differences between meta and non-meta characters there.
Banners are much like StarRail (no surprise) The beginner banner as someone else said, doesn't build pity for the standard but only lasts for 20 pulls, ten of which they just gave you, and another 10 will be given later. But since it'll be 20% off, there's 4 wish left. And it does give you Noelle who is a tank and healer so very helpful. Plus you can get some amazing characters from it. I haven't gotten a 5 star myself but have watched streamers pull them from beginner banner
One of the reasons for the elements to be named the way they are is that they aren't purely just the thing. Anemo isn't just "wind", it has other properties.
You seem like you like lore so it's probably going to be more fun for you to figure the more specific stuff out for yourself, so I'll leave it at that.
For reference, the gacha system in Genshin is pretty much exactly like Star Rail's. The Wanderlust Invocation is the standard banner, so the characters on there (specifically Qiqi, Keqing, Diluc, Mona, Jean, Dehya and Tighnari) are available on the limited banner if you lose your 50/50. The blue balls (...you get me) are the standard tickets, the pink balls are the gold/limited banner tickets. The pity system also works in the same way (so different pity for standard vs limited banner, pity carries across to the next lim banner, soft pity at 75/hard pity at 90 for character banner and 65/80 for weapon banner, etc.)
That said, I think the beginner banner is quite worth it. The pity won't carry to the standard banner, but the discounted pulls are very worth it as a beginner, though some people might disagree with me on this. Don't spend your primogems (jades) on it, since the game will eventually give you a good few standard pulls (there's even the same monthly shop system as HSR, so you can get them from there), but I think it's not a bad idea to pull on it when you get enough standard fates for it! Of course, if you prefer to just focus on getting to pity on standard banner asap, you have that option as well. The beginner banner doesn't go away until you pull on it twice, so you don't have to do it within a certain timeframe, and can decide whenever.
I hope you have fun with the game! As hoyo's first game in this style and being the one that really made them famous (though hi3 was already popular in china, but it was a bit more niche in the west), it really is a very good and well-crafted game. They essentially copypasted a lot of mechanics onto HSR, and it has a lot of improvements over Genshin since it is newer and run by a different team, hence the idea of it being the "favorite child" (which... I can't deny.... sigh), but I think even so Genshin is a fantastic experience especially if you're playing it for the first time. Don't let anyone tell you what to do if you don't want to do it and just have your fun exploring, as that's what the game does best! It's always a blast to watch someone figuring Genshin out for the first time as I'm sure we veteran players all wish we could experience it for the first time again ahaha!
You definitely picked a great time to start the game, also. They've recently started adding a lot of long-requested quality of life features (some of which have been in HSR for a while, such as the log during quests), and the game honestly is finally starting to feel more complete even though it's been out for a good 4 years now. I've been waiting for this! I'm really enjoying your journey into Genshin hehe. But again, take your time.
For the wish system! you might notice there's two types of wish currency in the menu: Acquaint Fates and Intertwined Fates, both of which are purchased with primogems. Acquaint Fates can only be spent on the standard/permanent banner, while Intertwined Fates can only be spent on the limited character and weapon banners.
My main advice is *do not* spend your primogems on acquaint fates. Any acquaint fates you get as rewards are fine to spend, but considering the amount of primogems you get it's much better to save for the limited banners. The characters within the standard banner are older, and while some are decent, they're not characters I would focus on (unless you really like one of them).
Other than only spending primos on the limited banners, pull for whoever you'd wish for! Although i'd only focus on getting 1-2 dps characters, and then some good supports. Basically any character can work decently, so you dont need to worry about meta. just play who you like/are drawn to! Keep in mind though that you won't really be able to level up characters until you've unlocked their region, so maybeee don't aim for natlan characters right now.
However if u do want some meta focused characters, here's a few I'd recommend:
- Kazuha: widely considered to be one of the best characters in the game. He's an anemo support. Basically he can group up enemies by pulling them towards himself, and has some good buffing qualities
- Xilonen: a newer character but already viewed as one of the top supports in the game. She can buff your team and heal which is pretty nice
- Nahida: Basically the best dendro support. If you want to run any denro team, she's your go-to.
- Neuvillette: One of the best DPS out there. Super strong
- Arlecchino: One of the other best DPS
- Yelan: Amazing hydro sub-dps. She can apply hydro while off-field, doing a bunch of extra damage and elemental reactions.
- Zhongli: Not super meta anymore, but definitely useful considering he's a great shield character
- Furina: Great support/sub dps, you just need to make sure you run a healer with her
those were all 5 stars, since they get their own dedicated banners, but theres a few 4-star characters who make absolutely amazing supports. Those are bennett, kuki shinobu, fischl, xiangling, and xingqiu. If you can get your hands on any of them, take the opportunity!
Hello! I just wanted to say that the beginning in this game is quite slow, easy and quite boring compared to the rest, but it's comprehensive because the beginning is only the tutorial of the game. It gets more interesting by proceeding on. The story is very very long. Every new region and main story you unlock drops some lore, little by little. I also wanted to specify that this game uses a lot of random references: Archons' (Deities') names are inspired by demonology, the elements' names are in ancient greek, Fatui Harbingers' names are from the traditional italian theater from 1600, and so on. I also recommend saving your primogems and resources only for characters you need in your team comps (to know how characters work read their Talents in characters' menu). Lastly, use pins in your map to mark chests/challenges and so on because the map is huge and that way you will be able to find things easily. Enjoy!
The biggest advice I can give you on the wish system is to check which currency the banners use. If they use the blue ones, ONLY role on them if you already have the blue items necessary to do so. Your primogems (the star currency) can be converted into currency for any kind of banner, and you are always going to want to use them on the ones that take the pink/purplish items. These are the limited time banners, and you can get everything you can get from the standard ones that use the blue items in them while you're attempting to acquire limited time characters/weapons anyway. Anytime you would get a five star, you have a 50/50 chance to get the focus character on a limited time banner (although those odds WERE increased recently with a new complicated system I won't bother explaining; just know your chances are actually better then a flat 50/50 now), and if you don't get that character you'll get one from one of the default banners and will be guaranteed to get the focal character the next time you get a five star. This will carry over even if the banner changes, as will your pity. Your pity for character event banners is also shared between both event character banners going on at one time, while the weapon event banner and default banner will each have their own.
Pity in this game has a hard cap of 90, but you'll never hit it because the 5 star rate increases to 20% when you hit 74. You'll get a wide variety of four star weapons and character just in the process of rolling for which five stars you want, so my advice is this: use all your currency to try to get limited time 5 star characters you want. Weapons aren't important because this isn't a turn based game, meaning there isn't likely going to be anything you won't be able to solve with more basic weapons you can find just by playing the game unless you're doing quite literally the hardest end game content the game has to offer and even then, I've found you never need five star weapons. They're mostly just damage buffs, so going for getting the characters you like is the best way to utilize your resources in a way that diversifies the play experience.
Just a side note, if you ARE the kind of player who spends money, make sure you have welkin moon up at all times and buy the default battle passes, as they are by far the best currency value you'll get for your money in the game, and will only need to be repurchased every 1 month/six weeks respectively. That is the best advice I can give you as someone who has played since day 1 and has acquired every character in the game thus far.
Fun fact : you can hit "combustible barrels" with your sword , you don't have to light it on fire!
