When I'm hiking with my ACD she needs too run out in front to check that everything is safe, then she needs to come back to tell me that everything is safe. Repeat till end of day.
When hiking my ACD also wanders, not to far, always knows where I am and checks back periodically. The exception is passing a stream or pond, which turns my ACD into an Aquatic Cattle Dog. Jack Cole saying that Cowboy is a one-person dog (par for the course based on my experience) EXCEPT that Cowboy stays with his wife when hiking while keeping an eye on Jack surprised me. NICE VIDEO.
