This is an ORIGINAL HorrorBabble Production.
It takes a truly talented writer to make LITERAL BEDSHEET GHOSTS utterly terrifying.
What, a, gem! This will definitely be one I give a second and third listen to. Also, love the character Wilson, was cheering when he shows up at the end LOL.
Josh Smiley .. i love this story. Third time.
Watch the Arena/ BBC rendition of this tale with Holden in lead role. Incredibly horrific!
I've always been meaning to read this one but what better way to experience it than read by Ian!! Awesome, thank you so much!!
Some of James's power is the Victorian fear of the ancient fathers

I listened last night...twice... I've read this, my favorite ghost story, many times over the decades... But listening to it read actually revealed new things, thanks thanks...my co workers on the other hand do NOT thank you 👻
Wonderfully read for a cold evening indoors.
Halloween is almost here.......spooky stuff. O.O
Thanks very much for the work I know you put into this one Ian, I am very much looking forward to listening, thanks man
Old-school archeology more or less centered around scraping everything with the same knife, and maybe banging shit on a table
A classic chiller that still gets to me; James was one of a kind.
I would love to hear "Three Skeleton Key" Author George G. Toudouze
Hi Chris, if you think it's a public domain work, please feel free to forward your request here: www.horrorbabble.com/contact
HorrorBabble I submitted the info
@@kryss187 Thank you for recommending this one! One of my favorites.
The BBC made an excellent film of this starring the late great Michael Hordern, and directed by Jonathan Miller of Beyond The Fringe fame. You can check it out right here on UA-cam
My favourite M.R James story.
And a wonderful re telling, thank you.
👍
Weather is getting ready for horror babble season here in New Jersey. Thank you both for making my favorite season even better!!
Mr. V 2 100% agree sir!
Been wanting to get into M.R. James, and as much as I love reading, I find I prefer listening to short horror; this was a great presentation.
And I certainly didn't expect the "Sir Not-Appearing-In-This-Film" joke in the prologue!
This story scared me almost to death as a child! Thanks!
An amusing, alarming, visual and haunting story. Is it your intention to read all his ghost-stories ? The Colonel is very amusing.
Thanks again James - I'll certainly be recording others in the future.
I just watched this movie & have decided to try painting some watercolors as a tribute & the *Stalls of Barchester* also ...this audiobook should help set the mood 👍👍👍👍👍🎬 I'm all 👂👂 here
The writerly asides are hilarious.
One of my favorites by M.R. James, I listen to it an almost nightly basis.
m r james is worth listening to, over and over. thank you.
Love this....lots going on here, but james would have thought it not cricket to talk about that in anything but Latin. Poor old Templars, killed for being bad catholics, condemned by the major for being Catholics. Umberto Eco has written lots about this lol.
Awesome story and narration.
Any guy that blows a whistle in a house in the middle of the night is awesome!
This is a great story!
Thanks!
Probably my favorite MR James story
I just can’t stop listening!
I haven't listened yet (I know it'll be good anyway) but I recognised this story because they referenced this in Alien Covenant. Not a great movie but such a good villain.
Lots of hidden jokes. The daughting apostle, the daughting professor , the naughty catholic heretic warrior monks, the character who thinks they are too catholic lol
Excellent
This is wonderful stuff!
Holds up well; Mr. James was amazing in so many ways. Appreciated.
Our dear Parkins tries to be sooo rational and ends up being overly skeptical.
The winter is upon us soon.
Please make more videos fast.
Have heard different versions of this story? Would like to know which version is the actual MR James one?In one version HES taken to an asylum first thing in the morning a gibbering wreck, never to be heard of again???
Bit of a nerve changing such a famous writers work!!!
As far as I can tell, this reading is true to the original story.
Read it
I really enjoy M R James's stories but I believe that the narration would be even better if Benedict Cumberbatch did the reading. 🙂 🤔
No disrespect to the current narrator, but I rather nod to Michael Horden and his readings of the '70s.
