I feel even sadder realizing that Lumine's journey first really had no hope of seeing us cause we were still sleeping. She didn't even get to meet Aether while we at least got the message that "ya I'm alive, I'm fine I just want you to journey before you talk to me"
They don't show other people their true feelings and many times they just "act", pretend to look happy and cheerful. It's funny how I got this idea even from the start of the game but I never thought I would get a confirmation of this
@MaiShiro478 theres also a bunch of people in general that the traveler knows and while they may not fill the void of their actual sibling, there still fun, quirky and good to be around in their own away, again taking away from the sadness once in a while. Compared to Dain and Lumine, who probably do care for each other deeply, but both are deeply suffering
Paimon might be a god with diminished powers but Dain was literally, figuratively, and emotionally broken person after the fall of his people. I think the short shows how cold and distant he was as a travel companion compared to Paimon's enthusiastic friendship. This short gets more tragic each time I watch it because of how lonely and painful the sibling's travels were. Also, I hear the Pari vocal musical motif just before the scene with the animals in the snow. I wonder if that was intentional like when they put the trailblazer theme in If I Can Stop One Heart From Breaking for Firefly.
We've all been joking that Paimon is the emergency food but without her, Aether would be as lonely and broken like Lumine at the end of her journey. Dain was distant and traumatised, he probably didn't have the emotional energy to take care of her, like how Paimon constantly cheers us up.
my honest takeaway from the animated short was that paimon is a better traveling companion than dains, dains seemed very to himself and not very interactive while paimon is more lively and talkative, now i really wonder how the story would have went without anyone to guide aether
I mean, Dain did just lose his entire nation😅 he was grieving himself, while Paimon is Paimon😄 but yeah, thei travel companions were probably a reason for their different journeys
I think so too. In fact, it was the Sumeru Archon Quest that really made me realize just how lonely the world of Teyvat is without Paimon. If I were a Traveller wondering the land...it would be so lonely to the point that I'd break down by the time I hit Inazuma, and want nothing to do with anyone or anything. When Paimon talked about how she saw us disappear in the Samsara and she waited, and waited, and waited...and we Never Returned. I honestly felt horrible, because I know what it's like to worry about family. You start to panic, your heart races, your eyes start darting everywhere, and you feel restless. And as expected, when we return, she gets so angry and yells at us...because That's what family does. They get mad because they care. Dain and the Abyss Twin....probably never such a bond...and it's truly sad..
To be fair to Dain if this is taking place closer to the fall the khaenri’ah he’d probably be very emotional unavailable and dealing with his own demons
That was so rude of them to not warn me that I was going to be SOBBING in the middle of the live stream
Honkai Impact 3rd: "First time?"

We always joke about the traveler forgetting the reason for their journey but we all know they’re just depressed and haven’t forgotten at all. 😭

tbh from what i can see paimon might be the reason aether isnt dead inside like look at lumine with dain she looks so done with it

no matter how much i see this animated short...i can only guess that we in for a world of hurt in the next archon quest
oh gosh you're right... now i'm REALLY not ready

It reminds me of the Caribert quest. It was really unsettling and Paimon wasn't there to lighten up the mood

I wasn’t able to speak when I was watching the live stream. It’s so touching.😢
