I live near Hershey, PA which is the considered " the sweetest place on earth ". I can honestly say these Turkish confectionaries personally seem more appealing to me than any type of chocolate. They are so unusual to where I live & I'd love to try every single one. I have had many Turkish delights over the last few years but they are hard to come by where I live because it's all about Hershey chocolate.
Haci Bekir has the most amazing old school charm. Their selection is second to none. Went shopping there while I was visiting. Got stopped by US Customs upon returning home. They thought all those boxes I had were for sale 😅. Had to explain how long I planned to store and consume them...
What a remarkable story. What a legacy that has been passed down and the changes made to adapt to new ideas and resources whilst using the same values of this great business
I love that Leyla is wearing "Rumi Su" beaitiful silk scarf by Turkish sisters, Pinar Yegin and Deniz Yegin Ikiisik ! 😄 "Haci Bekir" Turkish sweets looks delicious ! Must try in Turkey ! In Singapore, there's "Mediterranean Delight" located at Orchard Exchange #B1-04 (Orchard MRT) selling similar sweets. I tried the sample but was unable to find something I could NOT resist ! 😂
There are so many varieties of Turkish delight made in different shops and they're not all the same. Haci Bekir has the most remarkable Turkish delight I've ever had (turkish). I would recommend the one with clotted cream filling. It's extraordinary.
If you ever tour the Pacific Northwest of the United States, you MUST try out the variety of Turkish Delight that's been made for the past 100+ years; Aplets and Cotlets. I'm from Wenatchee Washington, and I lived a short distance from where the factory that makes them is at. Almost everyone in the central Washington area eats these heavenly treats~!
As a child I loved watching my mother make Turkish delight and other candies. She made everything from scratch. I considered her Original America because she didn't forget the old ways. She didn't have any formal training, she learned everything from her mother, relatives and by practicing. I'm so blessed to have learned from her. Now days holiday candies are every day candies just packaged in holiday wrappers. I feel sorry for New America or even New World people because they don't get to experience real tradition.
I love ❤the candy of haci bekir, everytime I visit Istanbul I will buy some to take back home. I love the Lokum and before Haci Bekir I never liked hard candy, until I tried it here
It's an irony that violet candies are 'new' to Hacir Bekir when Parma Violets have been a staple in British sweet-shops for many years. These look much tastier, though!
It is not about producing them but selling them to people who have their own choice of tastes. As the world is now more global and people travel all around the world there probably has been a demand for it lately .And Hacı Bekir is not the only company producing sweets in Turkiye. So probably there are many others who produce it but more traditional flavours are expected of Hacı Bekir: That is their strength at the market
Most of these candies we have. It's because American companies came in and over produced these candies. Made them cheap and universal. This is real candy!
This is decumentary about turki sweets or about owner of the shop ? Confused 🤔 me. I want to see more about sweet not more owner story than Turkish sweets...
Without an owner there are no sweets. And this is no ordinary owner . A young woman in carrying out the legacy of a 240 year old brand . I am a Turk and I was imagining a 75 year old conservative man to be in charge of the business until I saw this video
The way I perceived turkish delight was that it was so good you would betray your entire family for it. Then I actually tried it and discovered that it's definitely NOT worth betraying your entire family for.
It's so hard to have perspective from a distance. Everything about Turkish food culture tells me it must be a wonderful place to live, but the strong presence or orthodoxy gives me deep pause. Gotta wonder what's coming.
For Edmund, yes. 1) It was WW2, where sugar was very expensive. Poor Ed probably hadn't eaten anything sweet for a few months. 2) A real, authentic Turkish Delight is absolutely wonderful. 3) The Witch might've made the Turkish delight tastier by using magic.
why does this video have subtitles? is it really that hard to understand the woman's english? I'm not hurt or anything, just curious (I wish I could give a link on youtube comments, there was a wonderful joke about this. it was about a jihadist getting offended by subtitles :)))))

Everything looks so delicious, I love how it’s a family business .
A work of art in every bite.

In Chicago, Turkish delight is expensive. But I really like it. Rose water flavor is my fave.

I read it as “sweat shop” instead of “sweet” so I was mildly concerned reading the title for a sec

This dessert was made similar to it in the 12th century in the Kingdom of Morocco, and it was called ma'asal 🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦
Do they also make Narnia's Turkish Delight?
