    Rata should use your video as a "start here" resource for new buyers!
    I just got my Nomad this week, and I've been looking all over UA-cam to find tips about how to use access and organize my notes efficiently.
    Your video is THE VIDEO I've needed.
    Well done! Thanks!

    Roderick, as always my friend, a great video. Thanks for the shout out! I always appreciate your perspective and flow. I tend to quick access folders because I do short notes, but if you do longer notes, your approach is much better. Since you asked about highlighting, I agree, kind of. Right now there is not a highlight tool in the app but a marker. What the could do would be to have the keyword function recognize and highlight simultaneously. I have been wanting that for ToDo items as well.

      Hey Ed! Great idea for the highlighting. Someone else in the comments suggested a set of tools when you highlight something, sorta like the selection tool has. Lol, I just like thinking of ways to make things better.
      Thanks for stopping by :)

    Ratta seemed to have made some great decisions early on in the development of the Supernote platform, and have built upon that sound foundation. I do not think there is a more mature note taking system out there in the e-ink world, but it will not be complete until they roll out the same fantastic tool set found in handwritten notes, to ePubs and PDF's.

    • @rantsabouttechnology
      @rantsabouttechnology  2 місяці тому +2

      Agree on all points. They really need to beef up the tools and options in their reader app. It simply needs to be better. It's my only caveat with the Supernotes... well that and the wonky gestures, but I won't start that rant here, lol.
      Thanks for the comment!

    This is a brilliant video. Very well presented and so informative. I've learnt more from this than I have in a couple of weeks looking through text and manuals. Thank you very much. One question is it possible to delete keywords as in when you go to add a keyword a screen shows select from recently used, and I want to delete some of the recently used as they were added in error.

    • @rantsabouttechnology
      @rantsabouttechnology  10 днів тому

      Hello and thanks for the compliment. Yes, you can delete keywords. I've done that when I wanted a capitalized keywords over the non capped one. Go to you notes and go to the index menu. There you can select keywords, and there will be an "x" by all keywords if you sort by "keyword". Hope this helps :)

      @@rantsabouttechnology hi, thanks for this. What I was trying to do was when I go to add a keyword to a document it comes up with the screen at keyword and then a section saying select from recently used. I want to delete some of the recently used ones but can't find a way to do this.

    The quick access is such a great navigation tool. I just wish that if you add a page to the list, you could rename the link to say something else than just the notebook name + page number. I’m currently using my Supernote as my BuJo and the quick access is how I navigate between the different sections for example calendar, weekly overview or collections. Currently I have all the BuJo sections in their own notebook because that is the only way (to my knowledge), to give the links a distinguish name.
    I don’t use keywords so I’ve never thought about the highlight/keyword connection, but now that you mentioned it, it does make sense. I have though many times wished that you could use the “convert handwriting to text”, feature on highlighted sections of a notebook. I write a lot of braindumpy text when I’m writing things for work and thought how nice if you could highlight the parts of the text you wanted to convert instead of having to convert the whole page. Or, if that is not possible, then have the lines highlighted also in the word document so it’s easier to pick the notes you need from pages of text you created.
    But both these things are minor issues and nice to have features, not deal breakers. The handwriting conversion is the reason I got the device in the first place and I’m happy to have it even the way it now is.
    Great videos as always. It’s always nice to see how other people use their devices because you always learn something new in the process.

      I think seeing others workflows is always useful. Never know how someone else's brain uses information. Could get interesting real quick.
      On the highlighting topic. Someone here in the comments suggested that we get options when we highlight something. Sorta like the selection tool does with its tool bar. I thinks that would be a versatile and elegant solution, that would solve a lot of problems, even you're handwriting to text idea.
      Thanks for stopping by and contributing to the conversation. Laters! ✌🏾

    Great video. Regarding keywords, I like them separate from the standard highlighting and wouldn't want automatic keywords generation from highlighting. However, it would be useful after highlighting some text if the icons that are presented have an additional one for optional keyword creation. Do you have any thoughts on Supernote devices feeding Notion pages/databases inclusive of images, ocr text and keywords? Many of us use central information tools like Notion and Obsidian with Notion being more popular and use various methods to feed these repositories.

    • @rantsabouttechnology
      @rantsabouttechnology  2 місяці тому

      I like your thoughts on the highlighting. That would actually be the best of both worlds. Like a selection tool for the highlighter. More options are always good.
      On the Central Information Tools, I've not used any, honestly. But I do see the usefulness. Think I'll spend some time familiarizing myself with them, though. I've been wondering about for some time now.
      Thanks for stopping bgy.

    Today my boox go 10,3 got stolen. I need to get a new e-ink device. I have been following your channel and you also have the Nomad. My question is, should I go for supernote or boox? I love that the boox has so many possibilities, but I find myself not using the potensial. I use it for work, taking notes in meetings and opening documents corresponding to my meetings. I need a device that can sync two ways with personal onedrive, open pdfs, and other doc formats. I need my mail and outlook calendar. I think supernote has all this?? I probably can not connect with onedrive client built in from Ratta because of restrictions from my IT department (I can not on boox) but If I can sideload MS outlook and onderive, they will work. With your experience with both boox and supernote, what would you recommend? Also, how is the nomad size for note taking? too small? I know the A5X2 is coming and tomorrow Remarkable has big news. Thanks!

    • @rantsabouttechnology
      @rantsabouttechnology  2 місяці тому

      I think the Nomad is too small for proper PDF viewing, and that would be my only concern recommending it for what you want to do. Plus the PDF reader on the Nomad isn't all that good to start with. So if PDF/Document viewing is a major part of what you do, the Supernote platform ain't there yet, imo. The new A5X2 could be my useful but who knows when that's shipping. Even then, if they're using the same viewer, even that's going to be inadequate for what you are doing. The viewer has no real option for tweaking your visual/navigation experience.
      Honestly you had the best device for what you do, and I'd buy that again. The Go 10.3!
      Just so you know, if I lose mine, I'm buying it again as well. It's just that useful.
      Hope that helps.

    I don't understand why there are different heading grey shadings. They look all the same on the Headings TOC (no differentiation whether is dark or light grey). It's a bit confusing why they have that feature.
    great video

    • @rantsabouttechnology
      @rantsabouttechnology  2 місяці тому

      Yea that confused me too when I first saw it. I initially thought the different shadings did different things (which would be dope), but that's not the case. It's purely cosmetic.... pity!
      Thanks for the comment.

    supernote has the best pen by far with the HM2, but for me the book go is just my go to.... the nomad is just to small for everyday notes and PDF's for me. we will see if the A5x2 can out do Boox whenever it arrives or even a remarkerable 3 if they can give us a better OS and functions. the Viiwoods on paper looks and sounds great but is it going to be Real!!! is the big worry

    • @rantsabouttechnology
      @rantsabouttechnology  2 місяці тому

      Well the Viwoods is real, but is it good? The verdict for me is still out until I see it, or see one of my favorite eInk channels I watch has it in hand. The Supernotes aren't good for reading or PODF imo, just the best note taking. I agree the 10.3 is Boss rn if you're only getting one device.

      @@rantsabouttechnologynot good for PDFs or EPUBs? No!!!!! OK, seriously, I agree on PDFs when it comes to the Nomad, just too small. Wait until the A5X2 though. Keywords and Stars on those formats, brilliant. 😁

    Not a fan of the star system. The stars are difficult to make and the indexing is full page previews instead of a single line like headings. On Boox you can make stars or asterisks.

    • @rantsabouttechnology
      @rantsabouttechnology  2 місяці тому +1

      Boox not only has stars and asterisks, but boxes as well. They even have "Headers" if you use the tags. The search just takes too long though, well that and a few other issues. But once they add indexing, or somehow speed up their search, it's gonna be a serious problem for Ratta.
