- NEW 'ROBINSON REVIEWS' EPISODE!!!!!
The SALOMON XA FORCES MID is a lightweight, all conditions tactical boot for moving fast in the most critical situations.
IS IT THE BEST HIKING & TACTICAL BOOT AROUND?
Based on Salomon's iconic XA PRO 3D, the upgraded XA FORCES MID is a Special Forces oriented boot that is more durable in every way, and also has a beefier outsole than the traditional XA PRO 3D.
the XA forces have a WEIGHT of around 490g or 17.3 oz
The OUTSOLE is a Contagrip MD with a Dual density midsole that has what Salomon calls "EnergyCell" technology. This provides high performance Lightweight cushioning, stability and motion control which also has built in shock absorption as a bonus.
Contagrip is a combination of rubber compounds and aggresive lug geometry that optimizes grip in rugged terrain. Maximum traction rubber combines with high-durability rubber added in zones that receive the most abrasions and wear and tear.
These boots have a plastic 3D Advanced Chassis that is Puncture resistant. When you see the term "EN" in the name, that means that the soles are Anti-static, anti-slip, and have anti-puncture capabilities. EN stands for European Norm and this just means that the boot meets strict European safety standards.
The UPPER MATERIAL features an Anti-debris Mesh with a Medial protective abrasion pad on the instep, Non-reflective materials which won't give away your position, a Protective mudguard, and PU coated leather.
The UPPER CONSTRUCTION features a Gusseted tongue to help keep dirt out of the boot, a Lace pocket, and a Protective toecap with the SensiFit system. This sensitfit system connects the midsole of the boot to the quicklace kevlar system that keeps you from banging the front of your toes against the front of the boot. I can attest that this sensitfit system does minimize blisters, rubbing and bruising on your foot over periods of long wear.
This Boot's LACING SYSTEM is kevlar Quicklace which provides a standard anatomical fit for less foot slipage in the boot. The built-in lace garage keeps everything tucked in and out of the way during operations. For instance, when climbing ropes or scaling structures of different kinds, these boots won't allow your foot to get caught on rogue objects and they will not cause abrasions.
The LINING MATERIAL is Mesh with a Molded OrthoLite sockliner insole. This is a fairly basic insole, but still comfortable to stand in for long periods of time.
Salomon is based in the French Alps & they have been designing outdoor products for over 75 years. They do have both a Gore-Tex version which is more suitable for wet & colder environments, and a regular non-goretex option is available as well. This is the go-to boot when you need to be light, quick and fast on your feet.
These Salomons are my favorite boots for both hiking & mountaineering where I live in Colorado. The terrain is rocky and rugged, which demands a certain type of sole and boot. These XA forces are comfortable to wear for hours on end, yet breathable enough to allow your foot to vent extra heat in extreme temperatures. I've had these two pairs in coyote brown and ranger green for almost 4 years now, and they are still going strong without any major damage to the boots and soles.
These are simple, no-nonsense shoes that are rooted in backcountry mountaineering design, yet good for a variety of real-life urban applications weather on special operations, law enforcement and swat team applications.
There are other boots out there that you might prefer from other manufacturers and outdoor companies. However, these Salomons are my top choice and my favorite lifestyle boot for the mountains. They are a rigid, well-rounded boot that I know will not let me down whether I am working around the offgrid property, hiking miles in the backcountry, or hunting. Heavy duty use is certainly not a deterrent for these boots!

I’ve used the mid XA Forces for work and hiking for the last couple years and they’re still holding strong. Mine are non-GTX because my feet get hot and I’ve never had a better boot in my life.
@@alpolo007 XA Forces Gang 🤙🏼
Also have salawas firetail evo’s and arboro evo 2’s for tree work and like both those too…shoes/boots always been something I’ve loved since mom kept us in Jordan’s all through 80s/90s in school and wish I had all the sets she bought us…
Been wanting to give the Salawas a try, on my list! Also been considering the Belleville Boot Vapors which have a tennis shoe type sole on a tactical chassis, have heard mixed reviews reviews on durability though on those. The Altama Maritime assaults are also some of favs right now, especially in @relvcamo
The XA Forces in Earth Brown looks the best to me.👌🏿 Wish they sold these in my country. 🇵🇬
@@gregyangavi2552 thanks for watching! 🤙🏼
Had my forces 4yrs and still like new but I havnt used em n mountains yet but my quest 4d’s I’ve had since 14’ and still hike in eastern Ky jungles…shoe goo keeps soles goin when they start delaminating and havnt busted and seams I couldn’t fix yet but gettin close to the end…I’m hard on em though bending and scuffing alot on rocks and takes a good pair to hold up around here…have the ultras and xa pro’s 4yrs and prob 7yrs on low tops…soles on them are soft and eat away fast I found but traction is second to none…
Dang, sounds like those are all troopers and have lasted you a long time! Tough kicks. Eastern KY ain’t no joke either! Thanks for watching! 🤙🏼
Hello guy, I am undecided between the salomon xaforces mid gtx and salomon quest 4d 3forces mid model. I will not walk very long distances, but I will still walk and the transitions in the camp also make the parachute, wrist support is also important for me, quest force patterns and I can be very comfortable or after a soft sports shoes. It seemed a little harsh, the outdoor models were more comfortable, and now which one do you recommend for durability with the characteristics and features of xaforce mid? Should I endure the slightly harder and rougher quest model? I would be very happy if you could help me. Thank you for the review. It was very good.
@@huseyin1312 thank you for watching! I have not been able to try the Quest model boot yet. I would favor the mid gtx xa forces mostly because that is what I am used to and comfortable in. They haven’t let me down yet!
@@RobinsonReconnaissance teşekkürler dostum
Solid looking rigs. Seem comparable to the Lowas.
Definitely comparable to Lowas. Haven’t tried them yet, but need to give them a shot too. Thanks for watching! 🤙🏼
I have a set for work. They are good shoe/boot but I much prefer regular laces as compared to these speed laces.
Laced Salomon’s are always a good option too! Thank you for watching!
I got a black low edtion one, only thing I found not satisfied is the leather would get faded a bit and showing the dark green color
@@XueEddie yeah all the colors, OD Green, Coyote/Tan, Chocolate Brown and Black do seem to fade in the sun a bit and after getting weathered a bit. Consider em broken in haha!!! Thanks for watching!
Do they breathe better than the quest forces 4d - my favorite boots but I have trouble wearing them above 65 Fahrenheit, the v8 ignite with my upgraded insoles I tend to roll my ankles.
@@johncouture6752 I would say they breathe about the same or on par with the quest forces 4d. Maybe a little less boot than those around the top of ankles.
Would these work in snow
@@anon1231 would work for a bit in snow, but probably not the optimal solution for deeper snow. They hold some water & don’t dry super fast unless you put in front of the fire or heater.
@@RobinsonReconnaissance okay! Live in Scandinavia so need some that work in summer and snow ❄️🌨️
Their sizing is fucked up
@@Captainslow556 perhaps. Seems like some of em definitely run a pinch small to me. Usually wear an 11 and fits more like 10.5 in some
Always us euro system.
