Hi Jen! I don't even own a Rose, but found this very interesting and you did a great job presenting it

Another great video! My first two Shetlands come home in about a month and I can't wait to start spinning my own wool.🙂 I love all the information you have on the Majacraft line. Is there a specific wheel that you would recommend for a beginner?

thanks! I am so excited for you to be getting shetlands - you will love their wool! I would suggest either the Suzie or the Rose to get you started. They are wonderful wheels for beginners because they are so smooth and easy to use. Good luck!

I have a question, I have the older Rose… that I received from my daughter… which has been very busy with her boutique store, and no time for spinning. I wasn’t given a manual, or video disc to learn how to set up the wheel or learn how to use it. There is no one in my area that teaches. Before I decide to sell it… is there anything for self teaching, and I would like a manual if they are available. I really would like to use it. The bottom of the Rose that I have has this printed: Glynis Poad Rese K399

Hi there. So the manual is available for download from the website, here is the link: www.majacraft.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/rose_instructions_web_1.08.pdf. They also have a spinning manual to help with tips and tricks, here is that link: www.majacraft.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/spinning_manual_web_1.06.pdf. I have an entire playlist on the Rose wheel, but I don't reallyl have any videos on the basics of how to spin. I hope this helps!

I was able to download and printed both. The manual was 32 pages… 😉 Thank you again ☺️

Which wheel is more versatile, in terms of yarn weights you can spin on it, the Rose or the Suzie? I currently use an espinner but would love to get a wheel again. Can one wheel spin laceweight through to art yarns?

Hi Sarah - thank you for your comment. The answer to your question is both wheels can spin lace weight to art yarns. But to give you more detail, the Rose is better at spinning finer yarns because of the larger drive wheel which yields faster ratios. But if you install a High Speed head on a Suzie, you can get to the ratios for very fine lace weight. Both can do art yarns, and to optimize them for art yarns you can purchase a jumbo bobbin with an art yarn flyer and use the slow whorl to get a nice slow rotation with a stronger pull. When it is a choice between the Suzie and the Rose I think it is more about which one appeals to you aesthetically. All Majacraft wheels can spin all types of yarns, but they all have been optimized for their own special purpose. You have inspired me to do a video on the topic of comparing all the wheels, so thanks for that!
