The name at the end, Verity Lambert, was one of the first executive producers of Dr Who in the 60’s. She was a big reason the show got made.
Except they didn't really have "Executive" producer. She was billed as "Producer". I think at the time she was the only woman who was a producer for BBC Drama.
@@andyleighton3616 that’s probably true. I was simply using modern day terms. And she may actually have been the FIRST female producer, not just the only one at the time. I’m genuinely not sure on that point, I’d have to look it up. Regardless, we all owe her a big “thank you”, I should say.
Awwwwwwwwwwww!!! The elderly man in this episode is related to the NEXT companion the Doctor has!!!! Such a sweet man, love his character…… 😭😭😭
Verity Lambert was the first producer of Doctor Who, largely responsible for the creation of the show. Also the first woman producer at the BBC.
Congratulations - you are the first reactor I have seen to recognise Kylie (or show it) during the video on UA-cam.
Also the first reactor to recognise Russel Tovey. Double contgratulations to Travis.
Verity Lambert was the founding producer of Doctor Who from 1963 to 1965. The guy who played Mr Copper real name Clive Swift died in 2019.
Fun FAct : Astrid is an anagram of TARDIS
Ahhh yes, the one with Kylie! And killer halos! 😄
The next companion is actually my favorite companion of his!
That guy was speaking in a london dialect, he said "i dont half love you". Its a phrase that just means "you wouldnt believe how much i love you".
Having grown up loving British TV I absolutely loved this cast. The man playing the ship's captain starred opposite Judi Dench in the wonderful Britcom "As Time Goes By", the man playing the Tour Guide to Earth was one of the stars of the hilarious "Keeping Up Appearances", and I've been crushing on Russell Tovey since I first saw him on the British "Being Human". And, of course, there's the magnificent Kylie Minogue. It's a shame she was only in this one episode.
Yay one of my favourites. Not just Kylie and Russell Tovey but a great speech too. 💜💜 and ofcourse can't forget the amazing wonderful Bernard cribbins ( underground overground wobbling free).
Younger me had such a crush on Kylie, I was so hoping she'd become the next companion.
Banakafalata loves saying Banakafalata so much that Banakafalata refers to Banakafalata as Banakafalata even though Banakafalata indeed IS Banakafalata
Lovely to watch your reaction of this Xmas episode. It had its sad moments, but can't help but feeling happy for that sweet mr Copper in the end. Looking forward to see your reactions of series 4 🌞
ALLONS-Y ALONSO!
My daughter was named after Kylie Minogue. I was watching an episode of The Vicar of Dibley when I was pregnant with her, and the village was all excited that Kylie Minogue was coming. I loved the name so much, I chose it for my daughter.
Also, I'd totally recommend another show Russell Tovey is in called "Being Human". (Make sure it's the UK version, not the bland, beige thing that was the US version) It's such a lovely show about a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost living in a house together and trying to pass themselves off as normal humans. Russell Tovey is adorable in it as the werewolf, George. Oh! And the girl that was one of the couple that kidnapped Martha in Gridlock is also in it as the ghost, Annie.
Verity Lambert was the first producer of Doctor Who back in 1963, and at the time, she was the only female BBC producer and the youngest. Her influence on the show made it last longer than anyone expected, where people "in the know" figured it would last a few seasons and then fade away. It remained popular all the way through her tenure on the show. (And after, of course, but you know what I mean.) The in memoriam bit at the end of this episode is because she passed away in November of 2007.
I LOVE Vicar of Dibley! ❤
Series 4 is my favourite series. So many good stories in there
Kylie!!! She was one of the most amazing and memorable guest stars ever, and that's saying a lot! This was definitely a highlight episode, one of the best specials. And this was one of the best seasons... but the next season is even better IMHO. They just keep getting better and better (and I feel like the current 2024 season is one of the best, as well - no spoilers!)! Thanks for another fun reaction.
Oooh, there he is. So lovely!
"I don't half love you" means he really really loves her. "Don't half" is British slang for "very much". As in you don't "half love" something, you love it ALL the way.
Such a great episode. Kylie was fantastic, I wish she'd stayed with The Doctor for a while but I guess she's a very busy woman. Also that guy who got everything wrong about Christmas on Earth was so funny. 😂😂
I literally checked an hour ago to see if you'd done the next episode yet. So happy now :)
Boy, have you got some treats to come
This is almost as depressing as the actual Titanic
KYLIE!!!
Kylie would have been a great companion 😢
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Did you watch Time Crash?
How to tell when someone skips the intro...just didn't meantion the new intro!!!!!!!!
The bit where the overweight guy is angry at the overweight woman for spending 5000 credits doesn't make any sense because if 50 million credits is 1 million pounds then 5000 is only £100.
I was so disappointed that Astrid didn’t become the next companion.
The best Tennant is yet to come. More Martha. More Jack. More Everyone!
