I've had this song stuck on "repeat track" for a while now lol; it's quite the earworm. Personally, I hear an eclectic collection of influences leaning heavily into the 80s. The gated snares that show up at the very beginning and then subtly throughout are a dead giveaway that this is a deliberate pastiche of 80s new wave with some Gothic post-punk thrown in. Initially, I hear the same droning synthesized harmony behind the vocals with an eclectic beat as in The Church's "Under The Milky Way Tonight" (not sure if the lyrics are also hinting at it with "under the ... sky") and Tears for Fears' "Memories Fade." The darker lyrics and tone are reminiscent of Bauhaus and "Bela Lugosi is Dead" in particular, both in the introduction and the "ooh ooh ooh..."s. Finally, they channel a bit of Echo & The Bunnymen as the bridge brings to mind "The Killing Moon" but this is more of a gut feeling and I can't quite put my finger on why. This song really sounds like it could have been released in 1986 and topped the charts, but at the same time it feels intensely contemporary.
dude... i've dug into Juanita Steins other songs and there is nothing like this. Not even remotely. Who wrote this song?... because it's not her... this song is GOOD.
If you check out Howling Bells especially Radio Wars you can hear some similarities. I have no idea who wrote this but she probably had a lot to do with it.
It took me 5 minutes to find this song but I got it... Runaways took me here.

Wonderful Song!
Shazam came in clutch while Google and spotify failed.
Yup. Hulu captions were happy to tell me the rap artists, but were so fucking helpful to say I was listening to for this song. Thank you, Shazam.
Reminds me of Veruca Salt a lil bit. That's a 90's band, if you too young to know.
I ❤ Veruca Salt!
